You have to do The Elephant story! You are going to laugh so hard. Tim Conway would do this to everyone. But his favorite was Harvey. He loved to make him lose it. And he did it all the time 😂
Tim (the dentist) was constantly able to get the others to break character. Don't know if you've seen it or not but the Carol Burnett skit "The Elephant Story" is not only roll on the floor crazy laughing but shows just how hard it was to always stay in character around him. Harvey (the patient) admitted some time later that Tim had him laughing so hard that he wet himself. They don't make shows like this anymore and the world - in my opinion - is much more sad for it.
Remember watching this skit when it was live. Tim Conway was a genius. This was all ablived. I laughed just as much watching it with you as I did then. My face hurts 😂. Thanks for the memories.
This is one of the funniest skits. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show. Tim Conway was my favorite. He would change & improvise the skits & get everyone to crack up. They did the show live, so whatever direction Tim would take it, they had to just go along with it & hope for the best.
The show was done before a live audience to tape. It didn't broadcast live. They would do a dress rehearsal which was recorded. Tim would do things perfectly in the rehearsals. If the rehearsals recording was good Tim would check with the director if he could change things but wouldn't say what. The director would say OK because he knew it would be good. The cast didn't know what Tim was going to do. Tim lived to make Harvey crack up.
I'm 60 so I grew up watching this show with my family every week. LOVED it! You'd love tim doing the old man skits! Those will make you choke, cry, can't BREATHE laugh with tears streaming down your face! 😂😂😂
I was in high school when this came out. I vote for the elephant skit also. A toothache takes over your whole universe. Yours was a fantastically hilarious reaction. Thank you.
Also agree too💯❣️. A toothache AND an earache 😢 are two things for me anyways, that can completely wreck me😢🤪🙏🏻❣️. Never ever wanna have either of those things, EVER again 🙏🏻❣️.
The Carol Burnett Show has some of the greatest comedy skits you will ever see. Tim Conway was one of the premier trolls of all time. He would run through practice for skits perfectly and then mess with the entire cast during the live taping of the show by adding some of the most obnoxious things and changing lines and making the others break character! 😂 He and Harvey were absolutely dangerous together because you always knew Tim was gonna make Harvey lose it. 😂 Btw, Tim Conway was the voice actor for Barnacle Boy on SpongeBob.
Back in those days sitcoms were filmed live so you had to be extra careful of what you said. When he was telling that story Vicki Lawrence became the first person to cuss on TV live lmao!
@@mycatz2fatgaming It was filmed, so while the live audience heard it "live", Vicki's curse word was never put out over the air. They re-shot the scene without the swear word and that's what was broadcast.
Greg, you're the first reactor to this epic piece of comedy i ever saw actually hit the floor from laughing😅. You GOTTA see the two part ELEPHANT STORY scene. Nobody, not even Tim, survived that one🤣🤣🤣. This was the kind of TV I grew up with, and miss something fierce.
These two are one of the greatest comedy teams ever. Tim's (the dentist) timing is so good that Harvey (patient) often can't keep from laughing. Any Tim Conway/Harvey Korman skit is going to be hilarious.
Tim Conway was a master at improvisational comedy. He excelled at making his co-stars break character. Try the elephant story and the skit with the dry cleaners.
While the Elephant story is a must-see, I'll also suggest the skit where they play the board game "Sorry". Carol (as Eunice) has a lot of trouble staying in character when Vicki Lawrence (as Mama) lays into her.
See you cannnn have a show on TV that's funny, clean, no nudity, no having to make political statements , no foul language and stilllllll be enjoyed and something your children can watch!!!
Tim Conway is golden!! There are SO many skits with him that are just as hilarious and he goes off script, the others who are with him have such a hard time keeping a straight face... you should look up the one with the elephant story... you'll be on the floor laughing as you watch the others trying not to laugh and break character. - just make sure you have a drink nearby in case you start coughing again!
Hey Greg...I am 67 years old. I love watching your reactions to our music from the 60s and the 70s....and now our tv shows we grew up with. The Carol Burnett Show was one of our favorites. Tim Conway who played the dentist started showing up as a regular guest and when he did he would improvise and go off script. Then no one could hold it together. Enjoy enjoy. We did. If you can find the one where he plays the old fireman check it out 💜
They would do dress rehearsals before the live show and Tim would mostly keep to the script but when they did the live show no one ever knew what Tim was going to do. If you watch the elephant story blooper the elephant story was supposed to be cut due to time or something like that but Tim decided to do it anyway. Also remember the era this took place in, the 70’s when there were still censors and strict language and subject restrictions. It wasn’t as bad as the 50’s but compared to today it might as well have been the 50’s.
I have had an abscessed tooth before and the infection was bad and it was the worst pain I had ever experienced. I had to call the dentist about 3 am and he called in a subscription of antibiotics to the local CVS and I went and got it just so I could sleep.
A toothache is one of the absolute worst pains you can experience in life. Whenerver I get the good pain meds for any reason I save at least 1 pill in case of a Friday night toothache.
I've had several toothaches and it's terrible. The worst one was an abscessed tooth when I was a teen. The whole side of my face throbbed 24/7. Pain medication didn't even numb it.
The Show was always live & Harvey was said to be the hardest to break, Conway made it his mission to make him crack anytime they worked together. The Carol Burnet show ran for 11 seasons starting in 68-69 until 1980 Conway would be at home board & would just show up, never asking for pay he only wanted to make the cast break character. Finally by season 8-9 did he become a regular cast member
Okay, I just looked it up because it sounds so far fetched. Conway was a regular for seasons 9-11. How is that even possible? I can’t imagine the show without him as a regular.
Watched it every week..she usually took questions and requests from the audience too. If you get the chance to watch the shows, do it...she is a master comedian.
The elephant skit is another good one to check out . The interesting thing about this show it was filmed in front of a live audience. Tim Conway was the dentist and he made everything up as he went along and the rest of the show crew never knew what to expect out of him.
Love carol burnett and crew! I grew up watching it with my family. I once had a bad tooth, the nerve got infected. I was in such horrible pain i genuinely considered running a smashing my face against a tree in hopes of knocking either myself out, or the tooth. Either way would have been amazing as i had to wait several days to get the damn thing pulled. By that point i didnt give a damn how they did it, just get the tooth out!
This from a time when a show said it was live, it meant it, there is nothing on tv today that can come anywhere close to the comedic level of all the major players in the entire show and yes there was a running bet on who could make the others break character by laughing, Tim Conway won by far, they need more comedy shows like this on air.
The Carol Burnett Show 50th Anniversary Special TV show 2017. The comedic actress celebrates the 50th anniversary of "The Carol Burnett Show" with original cast members and special guests; Burnett reminisces about favorite sketches, memorable wardrobe choices and bloopers, and answers audience questions. During her long running tv show at the end of the season she would show the bloopers and highlights.
The elephant story is a absolute riot. I don't knoe the name of the skit, but if you can find the one where Tim, as an old man falls down a staircase in slow motion, that one is comedy gold.
Carol Burnett show was just funny, hysterical, plain and simple. These are the shows that the whole family could sit down around the TV to watch and have a good time laughing your butt off.
Thanks for the laugh! Enjoyed watching this once again with you. The Funeral with Carol Burnett and Robin Williams is another great skit. In that one u can see the run through with sticking to the script more and then another take with more improv.
Tim (the dentist) and Harvey had a running bet to see who could make the other break character first. Tim always won. Harvey joked that he paid for Tim's kids college educations just from the money he lost to Tim.
The Carol Burnett show was on from 1967 to 1978. I remember watching it as a kid and all the way until high school. I was so disappointed when it went off the air.
The worst toothache I ever had was one of my wisdom teeth. I was really ready to take a leap out the window (second floor) but then he came in and gave me the novacaine. I never had kids and never had kidney stones so a toothache to me is the absolute worst.
Tim Conway was a comedic genius. There was a couple of characters that Tim and Carol played in several skits. Tim was the boss and Carol was his secretary Mrs. Wiggins. She cracked him up a time or two if I remember right. But if you saw a skit with Tim in it you knew he was going to cause someone to break character.
I loved watching you discover this skit! Forever funny! Tim Conway (dentist) and Harvey Korman (patient) were regulars on the Carol Burnett show, and the two of them together were always hysterical, and would crack each other up too!
I was a child during the 1970's, and The Carol Burnett Show was one of the highlights of the week of television! On the show, it was the cast's job to make the audience laugh. it was Tim Conway's mission to make the cast laugh!
I love seeing the younger generation experience true comedic genius. The Carol Burnett Show was absolute comedy gold. Tim Conway (the dentist) would improv many scenes in an attempt to cause his castmates to break character. You have got to watch "The Elephant Story," "The Fuhrer" & so many more. The show was funny the way it was written but the cast breakups were the true, unfiltered humor that the show possessed!
I don't know if one can top that but they have MANY, MANY more for you to see and enjoy. But, not only were all the stars performing on the show top notch but they had wonderful, award winning writers, too. Carol appears in quite a few of them herself and she is equally as funny as those two. The fact that the actor in the chair seemed to be cracking up out of script was not uncommon. The "dentist" did that every time. Just his appearance on the stage made everyone start to laugh and he always came through big time.
Another good one is the interrogation with Harvey Korman, Tim Conway and Lyle Waggoner! OMG, it's hilarious! Lyle was one cast member who hardly ever broke up, but in this skit, he had him in stitches! I miss this show so much! 😂
I was little kid when her show was on each week! I just love to c young people react to skits, shows and music from way back in the day! It makes my heart smile! But, u definitely do need to watch The Elephant Story from The Carol Burnett Show! Again, u will b in the floor laughing! Enjoy!
I've experienced this kind of a toothache. The closest parallel I can give is it's like getting a sliver all the way up your thumbnail, or at least a two-degree burn, and I've experienced both of those as well.
I had a tooth crack, and that was painful, it was during the weekend it was so much pain that I went into the garage grabbed a hooked needled nose pliers and pulled it out myself. It felt so much better got into the dentist on tuesday and they got in there and got the rest of the tooth out and stitched it up,
This show was great. The cast considered their lines as suggestions to be tossed around and left their coworkers trying to come up with lines and not break into giggles all at the same time. I loved this skit even more after I grew up because my husband was a dental technician. Those two characters loved to see who could make the other laugh onstage first by the way. Watch for it in other shows, it was a running theme.
I had no idea this show was going to be this funny, OMG!! Let me know if you guys would like to see more!! ❤🔥❤🔥
Yep!! 😂
YES!
The elephant story... Tim Conway has them all almost rolling in the floor!

"The Elephant Story" is a classic! And Tim Conway is a comedy legend.
tim was as interested in making harvey korman break character as in entertaining the audience

@@busymom4kc Hysterical!
Tim Conway was famous for making the others break character and laugh during these skits.
Tim Conway was an AHOLE….in the best way possible..lol.
KalElvis - Just like Will Ferrel did on SNL.
Harvey ( in the dentist chair) had no idea that this would happen! Tim (the dentist) made Harvey laugh so hard, he peed himself 😅😅😅😅😅
This show and these two were so entertaining when I was growing up
Remember watching this skit when it was live. Tim Conway was a genius. This was all ablived. I laughed just as much watching it with you as I did then. My face hurts 😂. Thanks for the memories.
True story! Harvey admits to peeing his pants. When you see him cross his legs, is when it happened.
Don't know how many times i've seen this skit , but what do enjoy is watching todays young people enjoy so much !
This is one of the funniest skits. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show. Tim Conway was my favorite. He would change & improvise the skits & get everyone to crack up. They did the show live, so whatever direction Tim would take it, they had to just go along with it & hope for the best.

a must-see suggestion is the "Elephant Story" skit From The Carol Burnett Show. Tim Conway (the dentist actor) knocks it out of the park!
Agreed 100%
Watch both parts - you can find them together. Fall down funny.
Came looking through comments to see if anyone recommended it! Yes, he needs to see the "Elephant Story"!
Everyone broke character if Tim Conway was involved. Lol
