It is so sad to hear that the government officials are so corrupted. Just imagine the richest family in India spend millions of dollars on one marriage ceremony, but yet millions are living below poverty.

Incredible level of organization from the protesters and the striking workers honestly. I'd be interested to learn more about this.
It was a spontaneous movement which started when the medical college authorities where the incident took place started trying to cover up the incident. They called the resident doctor's parents and alleged that it was a suicide brought on by acute psychosis, without even an autopsy, denied letting them see her even when they begged and pleaded for 3 hours with the principal. Thereafter the anger which was simmering about the State and Central governments turning a blind eye for safety of women and doctors sparked this. The shamelessness of those in power needs to be pointed out, they need to be answerable to the people. Our colleague also deserves a fair, transparent investigation into her brutal murder.
@@sohinichakraborty1697Did the medical college authorities have the right to keep them from seeing her? And slandering a woman who went through something like that to hide their own terrible mistakes just sounds absolutely disgusting and atrocious.
I can not imagine the stress of working in a hospital where you are trying to help people who are sick and having to worry about your own basic safety.

I truly hope to see an India where women are respected and can work and live in peace without fear of facing such atrocities in my lifetime. As someone from the US once said on Twitter, "The strongest people God made was Indian women". It's no surprise that his tweet went viral and received thousands of likes, despite everything you all go through, you all show up and protest and make your voices heard even though the system is against you. Believe me, the whole world stands with you. Indian girls and women deserve so much better.

R**e and murder is extremely common in places like India unfortunately. They lack the skills and funds for proper DNA testing - Not to mention the police and government is extremely lazy and/or corrupt. Same reason its the headquarters for practically all scam centers - and the Indian police and government do nothing to stop it - many probably profiting from it. The entire nation is corrupt.
My husband wanted to visit India several years ago. He came back early quite disgusted how they treat their elderly, even when waiting for a flight at the airport.

I'm in the USA. I'm having such a hard time finding information on this poor doctors experience. I found a few Indian RUclipsrs talking about it, but they're speaking half their own language and half English, so I'm missing so much info that's lost in translation, I guess 😢

What needs to be done is that India should be isolated from the international community until it starts treating girls and women properly, otherwise this will never end. The men know there is no consequences for their actions, just a protest that leads to nothing.

We doctors of India are suffering since so long, 36 hrs duties, getting beaten up by patients and their relatives, now this horrible act by cowards, No more, doctors of India will not suffer in silence now we will stand up and make this a global news, People of India should consider themselves lucky where doctors provide one of the swiftest world class treatment and surgeries free of cost, go to any govt hospital in India and you will find a skilled resident doctor to take care of you in 5 minutes, go to USA, UK and other European countries where you'll be waiting for months to get and appointment and the cost of treatment will strip you down to bare bones. My non medico friends should consider themselves very lucky to have the fastest world class and most affordable health care facilities available throughout the country.
