It's not surprising really as he was straight descendant of Ōtsutsuki, has much powerful chakra etc. Normal people like Madara have so much trouble awakening Rinnegan because they're so much weaker and had so little chakra. To the point where Madara had to cheat by fusing with Hashirama cells to awaken Rinnegan lol. That's the main reason why Hagoromo awakened it so easily compare to other characters in manga.
