TM88 doesn't get enough credit, I remember before a lot of producers never used gross beat or any other effects to their trap but when TM88 started using it everyone got on the jump.

On the first beat, how in the world does he have 3 different low bands that operate in the same frequency not clash?( 808 drum/ sine wave lead pad and brass) and have 2 arps mesh well with that much control. Is that the PORTAL VST acting up like that? 🙆🏾‍♂️

Its about AMPLITUDE as much as it is WHAT frequencies when something is "clashing". If the ADSR of each sound/sample arent layered over eachother but flowing/pumping into the next then using the same frequency band just makes for a solid low end, you NEED to do it actually, sidechaining is mostly bullshit. Try mixing in mono with one speaker off, no side chaining, just focus on the attack and decay of every sound hitting and getting out the way for the next one, use EQ purely as color THEN start adding the saucy plugins and expand to stereo.

He's definitely versatile as any good producer should be nowadays, very good overall sound but I can't agree that he is the most versatile. I heard him cover types of hip-hop, rnb and house music. Most ambitious producers could be doing this because it makes them more valuable. He has a strong foundation 3 genres of work though. Someone like me can make good hip hop with no samples as I have done years ago but it would've costed me from branching out as I did into house music, drum and bass music and some genres of rock. To me if you start off learning how to make drum and bass music, hip hop, rnb, house and rock could be easier to understand and make well because it's just half the timing except for rock in some cases and they don't really incorporate ghost snares in hip hop.
