Eminem’s concept album drops alongside other eagerly awaited projects like Common & Pete Rock's "The Auditorium, Vol 1," and BLP KOSHER's "Scarecrow," as well as new releases from Action Bronson, Cory Gunz, Juicy J, $NOT, and more. These follow other tracks that dropped throughout the week, such as YG's "Stupid" featuring Lil Yachty and Babyface Ray, and BossMan Dlow's "PJ" featuring Lil Baby. Eminem’s new album, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)," takes aim at Diddy and Ja Rule while also humorously referencing other artists like Kanye West. The self-proclaimed Rap God has described the project as a “conceptual album.” Ahead of its release, he provided fans with a warning and some insight into the album. Eminem took to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday (July 11), to explain that the track order is deliberate and essential for understanding his artistic vision.
“Public service announcement: the ‘death of slim shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense,” he wrote. “Enjoy.” The concept album showcases Eminem in a lyrical battle with his alter ego, Slim Shady, and includes several remarks about other music artists such as Lizzo. Most of his pointed lyrics target Diddy and his multiple S A lawsuits.
On “Antichrist,” Eminem references the infamous CCTV footage of the Bad Boy boss assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie in 2016. “Next idiot ask me is gettin’ his a- beat worse than Diddy did/ But on the real, though/ She prolly ran out the room with his f--’ dildo/ He try to field goal punt her, she said to chill/ Now put it back in my a- and get the steel toe.”
