Am I the only one that thought The Creator was a bag of clichés with a poor script? Yes, it looked great, but a decent movie needs more than that. Have we really reached a point in cinema where a movie is good just because it's not a sequel or a reboot? It used to take more than that... As for the review, great job as always Adam!
I didn't care much for the film, which is really disappointing because I want it to succeed and hope it does. It's obvious that the score, the visuals, the sound effects, and the world building are all incredible. However, my issue was the characters. I didn't care for John David Washington's character nor his wife. I felt nothing for their relationship because there was no chemistry. The child in the film I thought was a standout, and she'll get many roles in the future. Unfortunately, I didn't believe in Washington's and the child's bond. It didn't feel deserved just sort of happens. I much prefer Godzilla and Rogue One than The Creator.
“It was a coding error”,,,that was the moment I realized this movie was made by chat gpt. Don’t even get me started on the the inspection scene of the secret weapon or the B movie feeling one liners/ Segway’s
I was blown away by the stupidity of this movie. So AI nukes us, fine whatever. Then we build this giant space laser that roams around the sky blowing up stuff, yet "New Asia" doesn't seem to care. Our hero, if you can even call him that, doesn't want to save mankind but gets interested when he might be able to save his girlfriend. Uh, ok. Then this all-important "save the world" mission to destroy the AI superweapon is given to a handful of wildly unlikeable morons to get the job done. Surprise, they fail. Then we have to watch another hour or so of our "hero" trying to find a girl nobody cares about. I walked out before I'm sure a thrilling ending was thrown in our face. God, help us. No wonder this director was "assisted" in completing Rogue One. With great improvement, Gareth Edwards could become useless.
I have many questions, let's start with this one: Why do the machines create perfect faces on the robots but do not finish the job like the do in Terminator movies or AI!? I think that's stupid, do they ever explain it?
If I'm going to be honest this movie sucked. The acting was crap and the story sucked. However I just got through watching Saw X and it was awesome. I liked that it was prequel and made me want to go back and watch the other Saw movies.
Honestly, the movie for me was a letdown, it felt like someone threw in some popular sci-fi plots (Ghost in the Shell, Animatrix, a bit of AI the movie, etc. you get a clear sense of these) into an AI generator and this is what came out. They didn't build anything new just copy paste. The movie lacks some logical narrative sense, which is the mistake an AI would make. The visuals are stunning, but at the same time, it looks like someone downloaded them off Pinterest and uploaded it to an AI to create the scenes for the movie based on the AI movie script, to the point that if I go on Pinterest I am almost certain I can find the almost identical elements. So overall disappointed ☹
I thought it was an enjoyable film. Potential Oscar nomination for best visuals. I liked how they designed NOMAD. Some questions I asked like if the government banned AI then why were they still using AI?
Visually the movie was gorgeous and the explosions were absolutely beautiful. The music was perfect. I think the dialogue could have been a tad better with scenes being a little too vague for my liking but overall not a bad watch. I’d give it a 7.3 out of 10
0.5 out of 10 movie was complete garbage , made 0 sense , full of plot holes , military made decisions and created weapons we already have better versions of.... like the suicide bomber robot for example. Everyone was like OOOOOHHHH that's so neat when it showed up and I was like "that is the single most retarded syfy military weapon I've ever seen in my entire life... a bomb, that thing is just a shitty bomb with extra steps and easier to stop... a missile can do the same thing but better and we already have those" They can make super advanced androids that look completely human except the back of their heads? WHT why? Why not just make them look 100% human than this entire story just wouldn't happen... the while thing is dumb as fck and honestly you'd have to be pretty stupid or just be okay with eating shit to enjoy this
The trailers for this movie were awful haha. I didn't want to see it because they were so "GLOWING REVIEW PLASTERED ON THE SCREEN" generic. So I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm truly sorry about your theater experience, though. :/ That shit fucking sucks. Probably why I'm gonna wait to watch this at home.
This movie just hit different when you're from SEA. I heard Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian spoken among others. Just replace the L.A nuke with 9/11 and A.I/Robot with communist or insurgent then you have all the wars that the U.S have started after WWII combined like in Vietnam and Afghanistan. Just replace the U.S army bombing foreign villages to bits and executing helpless robots with people and you've got yourself a historical documentary.
The first thing to be clear on - there is not one AI anywhere in this movie. There are at best golems, human-shaped, inexplicably human-like people who happen to be metal. And who exist to be the downtrodden innocents in a movie that takes absolutely malicious delight in portraying the military as cruel-slapstick incompetents. This movie has exactly zero to tell you about our potential relationship with actual AI in the real world. All while piling together a mound of racist stereotypes about Southeast Asia and calling it "New Asia" because the writers just can't be bothered to know anything about the actual cultures. While the visuals are at least interesting, the sound design is terrible - the director has no faith in the performances of his actors and instead horsewhips the audience with musical sound cues for what 'the feels' are supposed to be. Be certain to enjoy the heavenly orchestral strains rising as the US military members die by the thousands in the final reel. It's really more like some sort of revenge film from a doddering old hippy still really mad about the Vietnam War. Up to and including the hyper-futuristic VTOL jets making unmistakable 1970's helicopter noises.
Dude, when someone sits near me in an empty theater I just move somewhere else. LOL. Unless they're a hot female which of course never happens. Like on an air flight. I never get the hot female - it's always the sweaty, "big-boned", shoulda-bought-two-seats male. 🤣

He flinched first and bowed out, not even getting his to go popcorn or mountain dew refill.
@Cold_Cactus all jokes aside, overall I enjoyed The Creator but I still see its many flaws. And I hear you ! Still glad it was risky story telling venture worth making. But good movie or not the theater attending public definitely needs to brush up on proper audience etiquette. Just a couple short years ago we thought theaters would all disappear because of hardships from Covid restrictions. I still have no desire to see this movie, but Adam should get to make the next Star Wars. That was hilarious. The amount of bad behavior at movie theaters is just ridiculous. The Celebration Cinema near me had such a problem with awful children that they refuse to have kids unchaperoned after 5pm. Why is it so hard for people to behave in a movie theater? Some of my fondest memories as a kid are of being dropped off at various theaters, enjoying the arcade games, and then sitting down for my hundredth viewing of The Matrix or LOTR or Star Wars. Hell, Spider-Man, X-Men, Saw...that list is humongous, and now people are so shitty at theaters that you can't even drop off your kids. Next time, get loud, Adam. I either tell people to turn it off, or i get management to kick their ass out. Management won't give them a refund either, so it doubly ruins their time. They just paid 20 to 30 bucks between a ticket and concessions, and now that monetary excursion feels like a fine.
He didn’t have that leading man presence. Nepotism definitely was a factor. There are so many talented stage actors I’ve seen in New York who definitely deserve the recognition to be in a big budget Hollywood movie 🎥
Only seen him in Tenet and he definitely was a high quality action star type that used his characters stoic presence to his advantage. Dude played running back at in a obsecre football league for three years chasing his dream so I wouldn't call him a spoiled rich kid type. That being said I haven't seen the Creator yet though I doubt if I didn't like it wouldn't be because of John David Washington
One of the few times I went to a theater this year and actually thought the movie should've been longer. Could've really benefitted from a longer setup with his wife's character and a little more added onto the ending. Solid film but ultimately felt a little hollow emotionally for me, which is a problem because the movie's climax relies heavily on emotion and I just didn't feel it
I agree. The first 70% of the movie I was amazed at how well the movie was made. I was not expecting that. The visuals, the soundtrack, the acting... it was intense. But unfortunately the last part of the movie was disappointing. It was predictable and cheesy. I think a better ending would have been for the little girl robot to die. Then have the military destroy all AI that are remaining. A sad ending would have been more thought provoking.
Really enjoyed The Creator myself! Run time was smooth and edited well to keep it not so draggy. Beautifully created world and story was unexpectedly emotional to me.
I could not get past the fact that the AI is so advanced and put so much effort into making human faces hyper realistic but, somehow forgot to make their entire GOD DAMN HEADS also realist. I guess they ran out of skin? PS. That rant was hilarious.
I thought this was great! It was really interesting seeing how this movie is sort of a compare/contrast between the fictional perspectives of AI/advanced robotics from the West (United States) and the East (I'm gonna use Japan as an example based on what I've seen from certain anime shows and movies)
It looks like The Creator is going to bomb hard as its projected to only make 30 Million worldwide. I think I may catch it at the Cinema this week. I like Garreth Edwards work and I can't get enough of Sci Fi. With this beautiful big screen OLED I have at home I just may wait for it to come out on streaming.
How did people like this movie?!?! Is writing really so unimportant!?!! Special effects A+, story D-. Such a wasted opportunity. So dumb. We were laughing so hard at these idiots building fake tension by making terrible decisions one after another. So bad.
Everything was great except for John David Washington, He was awful. The plot progression could’ve been better it was lacking in cohesiveness but the visuals and the acting aside from the lead was great. The world building was amazing. It would’ve been better if they casted anyone else as the lead. This was literally one of the worst lead performances I’ve ever scene aside from maybe Captain Marvel.
Love Sci-Fi - Creator was good, not great. Trailer gave away best parts. Story was kinda sub-par - but promising re: effects and overall AI movies to come. Prometheus remains the cream of the crop.
This movie is not for rational thinkers as it lacks everything that would make it even a slightly rational and viable. My problem begins with the half-human faced robots. Why go half way? Who in the right mind would do that? Even Sophia looks more human than the robots presented in this movie made for people with IQ below 90. The problem is, most people who enjoyed this movie fall into this category.
Generally, I liked it. Thought it looked beautiful although the character building was limited and rushed and I didn't really care about any of the human roles because of that. There's just so many questions I have for sci-fi designers though. In one scene an AI robot (full robot not human face robot) holds up a retro looking Walkie Talkie to communicate with another human soldier. Would this basic communication feature not just be built into the robot? I overthink these films too much but overall I thought it was a decent watch.
Yeah, i can't stand the folks with the 📲 cellphone as soon as it goes dark, Adam. Go home, don't go to the theater with us. Do you have an emergency? Leave, Get out of here, phone guy sucks!
the crappy Radiohead track insert took me out of the movie I was following. it was visually interesting but as I could see al the usual tropes being played out I switched off not long after the sloppy montage.
It's begging for a director's cut and probably needs a good 30 minutes more to flesh out some of those scenes. This was a very scene dense movie, which was why the pace felt so rushed.
I didn’t see a single trailer before watching. I love me some sci fi and that’s all I needed. I lasted 30 minutes and left. The acting was absolute garbage. So incredibly cheesy I couldn’t stand it.
Wasn't much of a review, you wast most of your review section by wasting time with a whole lot of tangents and only spent a few seconds on talking about the film itself.
Such a good movie, fresh, exciting, original. best movie I’ve seen all year. I would like to see more Original movies in the future This movie left me with a good experince
I'm Vietnamese and I'm upset they had so much Vietnam War like stuff happening in this movie. Also, John David Washington is not a great actor and just so unlikable in all his movies. Same with Gemma Chan. Great visuals is not enough to save such a terrible plot! Also this movie is more a criticism of racism, the U.S. military, and the war on terror than AI!
Weber’s your reel? I want to see your acting chops. He has to audition like everyone else. If he was a shut actor he wouldn’t get the part. Especially in a Christopher Nolan movie, let alone something Spike Lee or Gareth Edwards.
The movie was actually a huge downhill ride for me when I watched it. I think part of it is because while, yes, it's sci-fi with lots of action... we should really not be expected to *have* to turn our brains off just to be able to move past all of the dumb writing, flat characterisation and absolutely botched takes on attempted philosophical and ethical depth to enjoy them. I went into it with high hopes and left actually pissed off with just how.... mediocre at best it was. Everyone who wants a sci-fi action flick about a group of opressed, generic-asian-themed outcasts chased by the Evil Big Power would honestly do better with Rogue One. Everyone who wants actual in-depth take on the whole motif of an ariticial intelligence depicted as a child capable of its own, human-like growth and the complexities it might bring with it should just watch A.I. Artificial Intelligence from 2001. Hell I couldn't even enjoy the designs in this. Looks great if you have little to no viewer's experience with sci-fi as a genre. My father and myself sat through the whole thing just pointing at almost every single mech that appears and going "it's from (insert a better sci-fi title here)". Overall it felt like Gareth Edwards had a general idea for what he wanted to make the overall prompt for the action, and then struggled to actually fill out the flesh of the story and the characters and any semblance of proper worldbuilding to carry that idea.
The subtle opening and title, then the review being over half way... I knew we were in for a treat! This is really what caused the Joker to snap. Thanks Adam, always a great time!
This movie is a SLAP in the face of Disney. And I loved every second of it. Disney, you are a pathetic looser compared to what Rouge One could have been and what we have here.
@@destroyerzilla7634 I know that. I am comparing on how much Star Wars has fallen. Their devotion to the Message has stolen their ability to create. Now compre the net worth. Disney has ruined Star Wars.
Agree with you on the movie except I didn't like it so much that I would want more of Gareth Edwards, I think he has done way too many things in one films already and may be can take a short break. On the rant part, I am so there with you man. I go to most films alone and this constantly happens with me, people being douchbags, I don't know if it's an age thing but I am seeing it worsen by the day. Now I almost spend 1-2 days contemplating whether I should even bother going for a really worth watching indie/horror/scifi film for the fear of the whole experience being ruined by some 'oh I am so in love' teeny couple or 'hey I can Google anything that comes up in the movie thanks to this tech called a smartphone'. Now a days what I do is take a ticket right in the 1st 3 rows from screen, and mostly it works, if no idiot decides to annoy me by coming and sitting in the same freaking row. For The Creator, I took a ticket for 2nd row but it was getting tough to watch the IMAX screen so I looked at the back and moved to the 5th row , and it was a great viewing experience as mostly there were no d-bags in the general audience. The last time I totally lost it in a theater was in Insidious Red Door where this look at us we are so cool and funny group of 2 guys and 1 girl kept chattering, and I shouted at them. But strangely they made me the butt of their jokes for rest of the movies and continued to giggle and whisper.

Adam I love your camera work. The zooms and spinning, all of it. You are a genuinely funny guy.
I'll say it, John David Washington can't act and is everything wrong with nepotism.
I thought he was great in Tenet myself just sayin
He didn’t have that leading man presence. Nepotism definitely was a factor. There are so many talented stage actors I’ve seen in New York who definitely deserve the recognition to be in a big budget Hollywood movie 🎥
Only seen him in Tenet and he definitely was a high quality action star type that used his characters stoic presence to his advantage. Dude played running back at in a obsecre football league for three years chasing his dream so I wouldn't call him a spoiled rich kid type. That being said I haven't seen the Creator yet though I doubt if I didn't like it wouldn't be because of John David Washington
@@brandoncolley2758 I haven’t seen Tenet…I’ll definitely check it out 👍. That role was probably a lot better for him as you described.
Haven’t watched video yet. But from the title I’m sensing a rant. So I gotta get my popcorn first lol
Dude, you are hilarious!! Ahahahahahahahahaha!
We want to see this as Dune is delayed. Need my sci fix
but that movie is just stupid, very stupid
This film is the Sci Fi version of swiss cheese.
What a great second act Adam!! 😂👍🏻🥂
This movie was horrible
I loved how your self made Star Wars soundtrack keeps on going in the background, while you explain your awesome lightsaber attack moves.
The way you filmed your rant was hilarious, great work man !!
Really enjoyed The Creator myself! Run time was smooth and edited well to keep it not so draggy. Beautifully created world and story was unexpectedly emotional to me.
😂 I live for these reviews and your rants
Adam finally snapped 😂 😂 😂
💩 of a movie
That's unfortunate. That's why the finance people are afraid to invest in new ips. They love a guaranteed return.
Just saw the movie
Big propaganda
Hating Americans
We’re suppose to love AI killing robots
Sucks
And oh it manages to add the number 329
This movie is not for rational thinkers as it lacks everything that would make it even a slightly rational and viable.
My problem begins with the half-human faced robots. Why go half way? Who in the right mind would do that? Even Sophia looks more human than the robots presented in this movie made for people with IQ below 90.
The problem is, most people who enjoyed this movie fall into this category.
Really great original scifi movie that isnt from the MCU. Love the women/mother symbolisms like the floating nuking UTERUS in the sky.
You didn’t get it. It’s actually a dumb movie in smart movie clothes.
The Creator is a good watch. Just don't go in expecting Dune or Bladerunner. Think Pacific Rim and you will be ok.
Great film. I loved it. As for the guy with the phone, WHY GO TO THE MOVIES????
Was the guy the *_"USUAL SUSPECT"_* like the people that like to do commentary at the theater?
I didn’t see a single trailer before watching. I love me some sci fi and that’s all I needed. I lasted 30 minutes and left. The acting was absolute garbage. So incredibly cheesy I couldn’t stand it.
Wasn't much of a review, you wast most of your review section by wasting time with a whole lot of tangents and only spent a few seconds on talking about the film itself.
I appreciate this, and have felt this 100%. I haven't seen The Joker, because someone in the theatre ruined it for me and I was so mad the whole time.
Such a good movie, fresh, exciting, original. best movie I’ve seen all year.
I would like to see more Original movies in the future
This movie left me with a good experince
Great film. Just saw it. Also, the 2nd half of this review was the best. It was Adam’s manifesto video he’s sending to the local news outlets
Handful of scenes where they could’ve done something else with the plot. The whole Drew side quest, holy fshit..
Did you call a robot a little girl? It’s a robot. Other than that I thought I-robot 2/terminator/avatar was fine 😏
John David Washington was absolutely terrible but the little girl who played the robot was brilliant!
I'm with you all the way on John David Wahington, the guy sucks and he wouldn't be in the business if his dad was a plumber from Ohio.
Weber’s your reel? I want to see your acting chops. He has to audition like everyone else. If he was a shut actor he wouldn’t get the part. Especially in a Christopher Nolan movie, let alone something Spike Lee or Gareth Edwards.
Atleast they finally gave us something new...kind of...
This movie looks so bad, Jonh David Washington is not a good actor, he certainly is not his father.
I don't think even a million dollars or his dream girl could satisfy this guy. what a sad individual
This was one of the dumbest movies - on sooo many levels. It was terrible......
There was a lady who brought up her phone and was watching tik tok and I heard it:/ then she walked out…
255th Like and a comment to defeat the evil RUclips algorithm.
I could only tolerate around 20 minutes of it before quitting haha
Bad movie, nepotism, lack of diversity, not going to watch it.
If there is an open theater and someone sits near me I IMMEDIATELY move so they know what they did was dumb.
This movie has one of the most stupid plot I've ever seen plus all nonsenses visible in the movie makes it even more dumb.
I throw popcorn at people on their phones
If AI directed and created this movie it would be heralded as the coming of the next era
Imma watch it again. So good in theaters.
Saw it at a 1:15 show on Friday and was packed and ppl were so nice.
Left early, couldn't take the predictable crap story line
The storyline or lack thereof was so hard to follow.
It wasn't hard to follow at all
@@golfer435 yes it was, it was incoherent.
@@mattdbf no, no it wasn't. What did you not get?
@@golfer435 yes it was, the story was muddled.
The subtle opening and title, then the review being over half way... I knew we were in for a treat! This is really what caused the Joker to snap. Thanks Adam, always a great time!
The script is really insulting to my brain
Nobody puts baby in a corner. Just saying.
The sound track, awards are coming.
Why on earth would you say you wanted to end someone’s life doesn’t that mean you hated the movie very misleading title
Well, I guess I didn’t watch the whole video when I left that message. Sorry never mind
This movie is a SLAP in the face of Disney. And I loved every second of it. Disney, you are a pathetic looser compared to what Rouge One could have been and what we have here.
this film is produced by Disney lol
You take the slap in the face yourself, Disney knows how to manipulate even its haters.
@@destroyerzilla7634 I know that. I am comparing on how much Star Wars has fallen. Their devotion to the Message has stolen their ability to create. Now compre the net worth. Disney has ruined Star Wars.
Omg lol,I can't lol. Hilarious
This is peak Olinger
