    Here's my first recipe using the Philips soup maker machine. Its for easy chicken noodle soup. Add these ingredient to the canister:
    1/2 cooked and chopped chicken breast
    1 cup cut green beans
    1/2 cup cut carrots
    1 small onion chopped
    2 teaspoons of dried thyme
    1 leek sliced
    1 cup wide egg noodles
    1 carton organic bone broth
    Put the lid on and set for chunky soup, cook for 18 minutes. Ladle into a bowl and enjoy!

    Leeks are milder than onions Kathy and should be cut length wise to see if there is grit and washed. My dad would cook them in butter with mushrooms and we would have them for breakfast with bacon and halved fried tomatoes.
    I love soup too 👍💕

    I want to see butternut squash soup & chili as soon as you will! That chicken noodle soup looks so good! I'm not a bit disappointed!! Veggie soup & tomato soup (both chunky & smooth). I don't ask for much do I....but I just love soup so much!! We have a restaurant that serves a soup bar 5 days a week. They have 6 to 9 different kinds of soup & I just love it! But I want to make my own. I like to eat 1/2 of what I make & put the other 1/2 in the freezer!!!! Mmmmm!!!! Tell me, is your soup maker the large or small size? Thank you again Kathy!!!! hugs, & smiles, Judie

    Looks good but I think that the machine should have a button for no chopping as well. On the chunky, it didn’t leave you with a solid noodle....they seemed to be pulverized. I just think that sometimes you want a creamed soup or chunky but also a hearty non chopped soup sometimes. Also being able to do chunky or creamed then being be able to add solid pieces after and turn off either one of those functions and just cook the rest of the way. What do you think?

    • @kathyottersen8100
      @kathyottersen8100  4 года назад +4

      I think you have a great point, Debbie. I think they need some kind of way to stir it, though because the heating element is on the bottom and comes to a boiling temp right away. But yes, it would be nice to be able to add more chunky or fragile things as you finish it up. I was thinking maybe two types of blending options would have been nice. Maybe a blade like it has for blending cream soups and then an option to use something like a paddle for just mixing. I'm with you on this idea.

But I'm going to remain open minded to this appliance will help you get more variety in a short time.

    I think I'm liking this more than the VITA-Mix. I was so not liking the VITA-MIX because everything was just creamed and the heat for the soup was just from friction from the speed of the blade. This seems to be much more practical.

      Using a blender to heat soup is a gimmick. Blending long enough to heat soup fills it full of tiny air bubbles, and I hate that. What's the problem with using the VitaMix to blend the ingredients just long enough to get the texture you want, and then dumping that into a pan to heat on the stove?

    • @crystaldawn722

      I have the instant pot Ace blender and it has a heating element on it. I make all kinds of soup in it. I cook the chicken right in the blender.
      You just set the timer and go.
      You can also leave it chunky or plus it for not so chunky, or blend it smooth.
      I love that thing.

    Hi Kathy, this soup looked delicious! I was wondering how much smell gets out of the soupmaker while it is cooking? Is it pretty sealed/no smell until you open it or is it closer to having a pot on the stove? I have severe nausea and have been trying to find some way to be able to make more food at home. I am on a restricted liquid/purees only diet so this would be right up my street if the smells are pretty contained. I use my hot logic all the time after seeing you use it and it has been a life saver for me! But if you notice anything about the smells on this I would really appreciate any info you could share (or any other appliance/ device that cooks with low/no smells?) I live in Canada and often have to special order these things so it's nice to have the info ahead if possible :)
    I hope you and Rick have a very Happy New Year! I really appreciate all the recipes you share and have made and adapted many over the past couple years so I can eat them. Thanks, and I hope 2020 brings you only good things :)

    • @kathyottersen8100
      @kathyottersen8100  4 года назад +2

      Thank you for the great comments and questions, Annie. We are happy we could help with your cooking to make your life easier. Ok, there is some steam that escapes a little from the spout, but very little. You could tell that something is cooking in the house though. You won't get the smell like a boiling pot of stovetop soup until you open the lid. So I don't know if that's enough of a difference for you. I find that cooking in a pressure cooker of some kind is pretty contained smell during the cooking time. You might get the indication that something is cooking, but you won't get the full blast of the fragrance of cooked food until you release the pressure. So that might be a good thing to try. If you don't have a pressure cooker yet, there are lots of different brands which you can watch on both Rick's and my channels. I'm glad the hot logic is working good for you. We love it too! Thanks, Annie, Happy New Year to you too!

    • @kathyottersen8100
      @kathyottersen8100  4 года назад +3

      Right, they didn't hold up as well as I thought they would, and I didn't add enough to be able to see them. They were in there, but few and they were soft. First, I should have added more noodles, but I came up to the fill line, so I could have added less of some of the other ingredients to make more room for the noodles. And next time I will use a more sturdy noodle, perhaps a bow tie. The egg noodles proved to me too soft, I believe.

I have one planned for tortellini and veggies, broccoli and cheese, Chili and more. But icksnay on the hambone. LOL No bones could be used because of the blender blade. You can put chunks of meat in there though. The handle is great for pouring into a mug or bowl, but not for on the go because there is a spout shape to pour, and although it closes tightly, I wouldn't carry it around in case it leaked out the spout. Some steam escapes at that area. Thanks for your great questions, Susan!

      Right. Well the soup came out good, but normally I would make my own bone broth or cooked the chicken raw when making a big pot of soup. I guess I have to say this appliance has a function that is based on making a small batch of soup and rather quickly. I have a cookbook that came with the Philips and Rick bought me two other cookbooks for the soup maker. And every recipe for soup containing chicken or turkey involves meat that is already cooked. That was surprising to me too. But I'll be experimenting, you can be sure. Thanks for commenting. This was my first run with the soup maker, but I'll be testing it out in different ways.

    Your floor needs help. Squeak, groan... quite distracting.

    I really love electronics and robots but that soup is just ridiculous, I mean obviously I'm gonna buy it but no for that reason, it's incredible that you're unable to make a decent soup by yourself, that's soup is just a joke I'm sorry but you just disappoint me, what will be the future of the new generations, cheers.
