      If Pelinka were smarter he would've tried to sign Zo again and get Caruso back. Zo has improved tremendously with his 3 point shooting and on/off ball defence and definitely would've helped this team out this year had they not made that trade for Russ. No disrespect to Russ but he doesn't fit the system that the Lakers run.

    • @georgiosgrigoriadis6200
      @georgiosgrigoriadis6200 2 года назад +28

      Exactly. Why did they break a championship team? The first wrong move was Mcgee's departure in 2020 and it continued with the complete demolition of last year's team. The 2021 team faced major injuries because of fatigue, but they were still able to paly great defense and reach the playoffs and they would had beaten the Suns with a healthy Davis. This year's team on the other hand, never jelled at all.

      Not a Lakers fan but I believe that they could've won 1 or 2 more rings if they kept this squad and if AD was healthy. That Lakers team was a literally a perfect championship team with shooters, defenders, rim protectors, veterans, rising young players, and 2 of the top 10 players in the league.

  • @markibash2689
    @markibash2689 2 года назад +47

    Amazing squad. IQ was off the charts with these role players. In a game full of non stop action, this team mastered it like no other. Any window of opportunity they were given, they capitalized on it. There’s a reason why the only way to score on these guys, was through isolations like Luka, or Jokic, or Jimmy Butler in the finals. It’s truly a shame this team is remembered as a “bubble ring” team. Especially considering many predicted that the bubble would hurt the older teams and that younger teams would thrive. They were right. The lakers were relatively old and did initially struggle in the bubble and still managed to win the chip that they rightfully earned. To put it simply, the odds were technically against them in the bubble yet they still prevailed, as a champion.

    Haters were saying that if it wasn't for the "bubble" set-up, Lakers cannot win the chip. LoL. That 2019-2020 Lakers squad was built to win it. That team was not perfect but they had all the necessary talents to get the chip.
    And they did. Unfortunately, bad decisions are now haunting them. Lol.

    Moral of the story: Do the imposible to keep the core that brought you a championship together intact, until it's proven it can no longer put you in a position to win.
    Never understood how one player was supposed to supersede the losses of key rotational players that already had built championship chemistry.

    They made "click" with each other and Vogel's system too. It was piece of cake for them everytime they played together. Next year, Lakers became younger and faster but lost key player such as Howard, Rondo, Green and Bradley. Gasol was out of gas, Drummond seemed lost in court and Schroder was pretty erratic. But the team started off with a 21-6.. then covid and injuries ended that roster proyect.
    If healthy... im sure we would've seen (at least) happier season. Post bubble PO was tough to Heat and Lakers. They were exausted.

    This was a great team. People who criticized Danny Green so much were to blame despite winning the title they still want him gone. The Lakers management were also horrible in letting AC, KCP and Kuzma go. They had a great young core

    I hate how this championship is remembered as "the bubble ring" and not "the one we won for Kobe."
