Tommy Ivo was able to experience both of two exiting worlds, the first big decade of the "TV age" and the first big decade of organized drag racing, all in southern California, what a time and place.
I'm pretty sure that's the voice of Keith Jackson on narration. Those were the days when it didn't take a crew of 42 guys in 6 semis backed by an 8-figure budget to race top fuel.
How light were these frames? Ivo is not a big guy. He carries it like it's nothing. Very cool video. I met Mr. Ivo, and he is a great guy. We talked old, and new drag racing, for a while.
The frame was a well balanced lift, but the way he handled the rear wheel got my attention initially, not a lot of apparent effort for a somewhat awkward object.
I love the narration of these old classic videos. No drama and no sensationalizing. Just to the point and entertaining.
I believe that's Keith Jackson doing the narration.

I remember him, I was 7-8 when I used to see him at the Fremont drag strip in Fremont California!!

With chrome moly you can use a thinner wall thickness tubing which is lighter and still is stronger than mild steel tubing...

Go Tommy, go!
Back when anybody could build and race a pipe rack.

Tommy was pretty well dressed for building a car
Yep. It's just about that easy!

the supercharger doesn't push in more fuel. it forces in more air.
