Rana Sabbagh Accepts 2024 ICFJ Knight Trailblazer Award

While accepting the 2024 ICFJ Knight Trailblazer Award, editor and journalist Rana Sabbagh dedicated her accomplishment to her brave colleagues in the Middle East facing difficult conditions and death threats. As senior editor for the MENA region for the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and co-founder of Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ), Sabbagh has spent her career uncovering corruption in the MENA region and fighting for freedom of expression with her fellow reporters. "They represent the best of Arab society," Sabbagh said. "And with this award I salute their courage - and sadly, all too often, their ultimate sacrifice."
