Me too an same with thoughts of Mary Jane the version on the time of no reply album its got a better vibe than the main one kinda like this version of man in a shed it gives a different approach but all versions are good.
Same. I just listened to the remastered version, and I’ll just stop short of saying the remastered version is terrible. Glad I have my original boxed set. Stupid Apple Music doesn’t have the old version.
My life, Drake understood melancholical moods, unrequited love and depression so well. I just hope one day some one will come and mend my shed, and stop my world from raining through on my head. Cause I can't do this forever.
Well there was a man who lived in a shed Spent most of his days out of his head For his shed was rotten let in the rain Said it was enough to drive any man insane When it rained He felt so bad When it snowed he felt just simply sad. Well there was a girl who lived nearby Whenever he saw her he could only simply sigh But she lived in a house so very big and grand For him it seemed like some very distant land So when he called her His shed to mend, She said I'm sorry you'll just have to find a friend. Well this story is not so very new But the man is me, yes and the girl is you So leave your house come into my shed Please stop my world from raining through my head Please don't think I'm not your sort You'll find that sheds are nicer than you thought
Nick had what idiot doctors call psychosis. The decent doctors call it, now, Distress. He was a total gentleman and gentle to a tee. It's time we woke up to the fact that mental illness does not exist in the manner doctors and media think of it. Start a Nick revolution and speak out FOR distressed people, because it just might be someone as special as Nick Drake. Nick Drake's songs are about God mostly. You can say he is a genius or a crackpot. I know where I stand on this.
Those of us who survived or are surviving from what Nick was, presumably, suffering...yeah, I hear you. No way you can combat that on your own, without God. Taking pills, meeting new people and all that garbage. It doesn't help everybody. It certainly wouldn't help me. Certainly didn't help Nick. This world is cruel and you're especially lonely when you are that sensitive and lost. I don't believe Nick had any serious mental condition that could be treated only by doctors. I also think he was distressed. By the way, one of his favorite poets, Blake, was a very religious person. And I agree almost all of Nick's songs have that special grace about them. I've realized it recently. He didn't write a single evil song. Despite most of them being melancholic. He was incredibly gentle and kind in his art. I don't know any other songwriter like him in that sense.
@@garrywindshield1 What a beautifully written reply - you win the prize of all my youtube responses. In my mind, you are completely correct, in your armour and distinction in distress and the world. I would urge you, no matter what persuasion, to pray to Blessed Mother Mary - she would proabably die for any one of us, so praying to her is most healthy. Tell her anything at all. You sound like an intelligent sort - I'll say a wee prayer for you. Say one for Nick also, as he'll be praying for you.
What a beautiful song. Very interesting lyrics. Indeed.❤
This is definitely my favorite version 💚

One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard
I'm in my shed , listening to this .

Eloquently stated.
Don’t worry.....somebody is going to share your shed and is never going to rain through your head again.❤
said beautifully
Thank You Nick. Bless You
His voice caresses your soul
Oh!....that’s well said.
❤
❤ A beautiful song ❤
Very very beautiful!!!! Nick was very special💿
This song describes my dad perfectly. Love it.
They lived in sheds, you guys had the same dad maybe
@@tylers7048 my Dad too
@@royferguson3909 That shed must have been a rockin, don't come a knockin
The phrasing at 00:48 - 00:57 is exceptional.
this is beautiful.
Love this version
Oh perfect.
Well there was a man who lived in a shed
Spent most of his days out of his head
For his shed was rotten let in the rain
Said it was enough to drive any man insane
When it rained
He felt so bad
When it snowed he felt just simply sad.
Well there was a girl who lived nearby
Whenever he saw her he could only simply sigh
But she lived in a house so very big and grand
For him it seemed like some very distant land
So when he called her
His shed to mend,
She said I'm sorry you'll just have to find a friend.
Well this story is not so very new
But the man is me, yes and the girl is you
So leave your house come into my shed
Please stop my world from raining through my head
Please don't think
I'm not your sort
You'll find that sheds are nicer than you thought

Thank you very much for writing the lyrics. English is not my first language.
This boy was outta this shitty world. He surely came back to his galaxy. Here is just disappointing at its best.

Anyone know what tuning this is, because its different to the recording on five leaves left.
Try open B. From there you gotta fiddle with the tones from there. I may be off but it's in the ballpark friend.
@@sanctionedtaco2109 cheers, I'll have a play with it later
Five years late, but the tuning is BEBEBE.
