I am paying student loan debt.. Although I am not eligible for student loan forgiveness, I am okay with loan forgiveness. If it is good enough for corporations, it should be good enough for regular Americans.

I have student loans and i had auto pay on my account and my company made a new website and told me my auto pay will work on the new site but they shut down payments while making the new sites and when they finally resumed without letting me know my auto pay didn't work and i was charged a ton of interest. I still can't pay online and have to wait 2 hours if i want to pay my bill now. Ive never had any credit cards act like this and ive had way more credit card debt and paid it off cuz they make it easy and convenient to pay. You can't convince me student loans aren't a scam when they operate like this.
I dont believe the government should forgive student loan debt. They knew what they were getting into and signed the paperwork. Same with banks and corporations and businesses. Not the governments responsibility to bail people out of the mess they got themselves into.

I worked in financial aid at my college, and we were NEVER allowed to tell a student something like "only borrow what you need". I worked hard after graduating. Found some good paying jobs and life was moving along as expected. I find myself in a job that I love with great pay and travel, but didn’t mesh well with my boss. I won’t get into details about that situation, but my time at that job was nearing over. Instead of hiring on with a different company, I went and interviewed recruiters at all branches of the military. I was still young and military service felt like an itch I just couldn’t scratch. I served honorably for 13 years in the Army and National Guard with a combat arms MOS. In one of my contracts, I have in writing that during my time in service my current outstanding student loans would be paid in full. Well guess what. Through all the ref tape over the years, the military never paid a dime towards my student loans. I’m still fighting them to this day to make good on my contract. More than 20 years after graduating they are still outstanding and tanking my credit scores. I’ve actually been denied jobs for only having a 650 score because I was viewed as a potential risk for embezzlement. Now according to your logic train, I should just go get a job and keep paying every month. Well what if I can’t get a job to pay these loans because of a low credit score that I can’t improve with either getting a job to make an income to pay the debt or if the military finally makes good on my contract to pay the loans off. I spent 13 years of my life in uniform prepared to defend your right to to keep supporting views that ruin my life and that’s ok. That is freedom. That is America. But that that doesn’t change the fact that you’re just an asshole.

You can be irresponsible with your credit cards and get the debts settled or canceled to avoid having to pay all that back, but if you want a higher education, you will be financially ruined for the rest of your life because other people find it "unfair."
I always had a feeling, despite the liberal-progressive propaganda that student loans were going to be paid off. Realistically, there was no way someone making $12/hr in retail is going to subsidize someone with a Gender Studies degree and also be talked-down to by said degree holder. I knew it was never going to be implemented and I kept paying off my student loans even during the deferment period. SO GLAD I did, as I’m almost done now with about a year left until fully repaid.

I like how people are all for handouts with things like social security and even healthcare, but higher education is where you draw the line. Just know that if and when you finally reach the eligible age to draw social security, it will be paid for by the wages of those working after you, not your own.

Then for my government student loan, I consolidated it with a private loan company and chose the 7 year payment option. I only chose it just in case I had a financial hardship someday but put an additional $200 on top of the payment so that I could finish paying in 5 years. I had 53k too and if it wasn’t for my aunt teaching me how to budget, I would have still been carrying it.
