I was a trinity fan in the day. My mum was born in New Sharlston her dad was the blacksmith at the pit. They lived in high street. I was shown where the foxes lived. It was one of my great moments in life. I played union at school but I only rarely made first XV.

What a gem,I really enjoyed watching that. I miss Eddie Warring, his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. Poor Don Fox,if ever there was a noble failure this was it.
A week later Don Fox went on local ITV 'Calendar'......They went to Wakefield Trintys ground in the middle of the day and in his day clothes and a pair of carpet slippers .... kicked 20 / 20 conversions....
The man I feel sorry for is Harold Pointing who scored one of rugby league cup finals greatest tries, yet it is now largely forgotten, It is Don Fox is embarrassing missed kick that is remembered.
Don Fox was not a poor lad as the commentator said - he became a very rich lad after missing that very simple drop kick - he was paid off by the bookmakers without any doubt
I was Lucky to have this legend as my great great uncle! 😘😘

Don, Peter Andy Neil Fox are all legends of the game. A great rugby league family

One of the classic sporting moments. I loved the wobbly scorecard!
A great shame for Don Fox, but what an absolutely sensational try to set it up! Terrific commentary as always from Eddie.
Top class game and as you say terrific commentary by the one and only Eddie.
never gets mentioned but probably the greatest try in cup final history
Totally agree it was such a freakish try in the conditions
