I cannot wait to get my hands on Endless Legend 2 ! The first one is one of the best 4x ever made, and if Amplitude give to EL2 the same level of love they gave to the first game, man, we're in for a true marvel of a video game
Can't go wrong with Endless Legends II. Probably. Hopefully. Rest doesn't look too great, but given that many of the 4X of the previous years are still in development (because what game isn't perpetually unfinished these days) it's not like there won't be anything to play. Stellaris v.4000 for example will probably be worth a look too. Well, after it's released, and got a few patches fixing the worst bugs and introducing some new bugs.
Games always look the same. In the age of Command & Conquer we had Dark Reign, 7th Legion, War Inc, KKnD, Total Annihilation, and more. It's a genre, if they get too different it becomes another genre.
Some really interesting options here for varying gamer tastes. Nice overview Zach. I've played and owned all Civilization games. However Civ VI has left me feeling burnt by the publishers. I'm sick to death of paying for what are stripped out gaming mechanics that should be in the base game as an optional DLC. Personally I hope Amplitude (or whatever they call themselves now) do well. They have always been very active in working with their fan base and have run competitions where new factions and ideas are put into the games. That kind of behaviour is very welcome, as is you banning racists and so called 'culture warriors'. Good one.
I think one of the next few changes to 4X ground based games, could be to have a form of teraforming alowing you to reshape the land one or a few tiles at a time. Turning a mountain into a pit or chasm pit, or a combineing a few hills to get a small mountain.
Yield! devs need to change the color palette at the very least. That looks like one of those Alpha Centauri Civ games but presumably is happening on Earth. Beyond Astra seems interesting. Also, I don't "hate" Civ7. I dislike certain changes I see in it. It just is what it is.
So far I'm pretty content with playing Zephon but I'm very excited about Endless Legend 2. Still considering giving Old World a shot but something stops me.
4X is the genre that stands for eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. In some definitions it must also have some form of Diplomacy, so games like Civ and Stellaris are 4X games, but games like HoMM are debatable because there's no form of diplomacy in them.
I don't hate the "game" just the price. It costs standard $120 AUD and $200 AUD for Founders Edition! And I need a new CPU. The game looks great but I have not even finished Civ 6.
Civ has had its day, more cheesy leaders isn't going to help. None of these other games looks promising. Shaping up to be another very disappointing year. Just don't buy these games, studios are going to have to figure out something much more elegant and engaging.
Studios go in this direction because it works. Civ 6 is the most played and most profitable Civ game ever by far and it's the number 1 most played 4X in the world. It's not just people bought it, they play it more than any other Civ and any other 4X by a wide margin, like it's not even close. There are only three 4X games in the top 100 most played on Steam, and Stellaris and Civ 5 are distantly behind Civ 6.
I want to play Civ7, but with it having Denuvo and a ridiculous price, I'm going to be a Patient Gamer and wait for a few DLC's to drop and the price to come down. Old World is really good and I'm having a good time with it even if it's got a lot of micro-management.
Then you should consider the Civ series dead for you. Civ 5 was the most played and most profitable Civ game by far, until Civ 6 overtook it by far. It's not just gotten way more profitable, it's way more played too. The series will continue in the direction you hate with Civ 7 and Civ 8 will go even further. There is no more Civ for you.
Civ 7 really doesn't look that interesting to me. Played since Civ 2 and not excited at all. Add in some woke nonsense and its probably going to be the first civ i don't buy. But we will see, if it turns out to be amazing maybe i'll give it a go
All you talk about is 'woke' and culture war BS. Because of bad actors, I have to ask you to specify exactly what you mean by woke in this context. As in say what you're referring to and what you think about it without shortcut terms. I'm sure you're reasonable, but because of who I am, that term is used as a racist dogwhistle by some people and the efficacy of a racial dogwhistle is not in that nobody knows who you’re clearly talking about, it’s the plausible deniability. I don't allow the plausible deniability on this channel anymore because of those people, so please define it or I have to ban.
@@touger9759 Yeah, in many cases people use the word, and when I ask them what they mean they get straight up racist. Not exaggerating, I then look into it and they literally have Nazi stuff on their banners and bios. Why?
@@touger9759 Oh you edited in a rant about 'woke' with no definition that I specifically asked for? Banned bye. EDIT: Of course, it's always the first time commenters called 'firstnamebunchanumbers' lol. Really trying to maintain that plausible deniability huh? I always ask what people mean, but if you ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to define 'woke' and keep using it, then hmmmmm what do you think? I just ask people to define what they mean and there are reasonable definitions, but for SOME reason, there are people who will avoid defining it at all costs while still using the word in every other sentence. You're saying the word, why can't you tell me what it means to you? And if there's someone who keeps using the word but never replies to my enquiry, well then you don't need to comment since you're just spamming and never reading anything. Tombunchanumbers isn't banned yet, I just asked them to define what they mean. No reply, then I have to guess. Please, it's not my first day on the internet.
@@Didius13 Thanks! There's a reason why my comment sections aren't a complete mess. I have a lot of experience at this point and that gives me very clear methods and reasons for everything.

Elaborate Lands sounds quite appealing. Sometimes I don't want combat.

Thanks for the list, a couple look interesting. Looking forward to endless legend 2, I hope its good.
Me, watching the video because I loved how Civ VII is coming together but still want more 4X :3

I'm HYPE for Civ VII, but hyped for anything Amplitude Studios as well.
Always a good day when @GamerZakh posts a vid!
Endless Legend 2 looks great I have high hopes for it! Thanks for showcasing these I never heard of these!
im actually quite optimistic for Civ VII, but in the case that doesn't work out, im looking forward to Beyond Astra
I'm still on Civ 3, so I have some catching up to do! Although I didn't enjoy the little I played of Civ 6.
I haven't played Endless Legends, but I adore Endless Space II.
It's a great game, Humankind took a lot from it
I am glad lots of games are coming out but man do they all look the same.

Amplitude is still Amplitude, they just switched publisher to Hooded Horse (famous for Manor Lords and other strategy games)
Really looking forward to Endless Legend 2! Still have hopes that Civ 7 is good but, im scared! hold me!

Nice overview, I wait for a sale of Civ 7, have too many games to play already. XD

Disliking certain changes isn't hate at all, I don't consider you to be hating Civ 7.
Atre looks like it has HOMM vibes. Be interested in seeing that played.
Endless Legends was where Civ 6 stole on-map districts from
I wish they revamped the CIV graphics a little. It’s a little stale looking. Mind you probably fun anyway.
So far I'm pretty content with playing Zephon but I'm very excited about Endless Legend 2.
Still considering giving Old World a shot but something stops me.
Thanks.
I really hope they add more depth to the unit design in Endless Legend 2. While it was cool in EL1, it wasn't enough to have much effect
>If You *HATE* Civ VII
Now, you have my attention!
Can i strongly recommend Zephon!
What does a “4x” game mean?

Dude CIV 7 isnt out yet and you alredy hating? :D
Not me, lots of people though. I'm quite enjoying it actually. And to note personally, I have access to the game right now so it is out for me.
How can you hate Civ 7 if it's not even out yet?
Ah you'd be surprised haha

The only reason I dislike Civ7 is the mandatory civ switching. Which will still be there in the proverbial two years. Unless they make it optional.
Only Sid Meier Civilization !
Diverse Armies?🤔 Oh no!😵💫 My mind just tried to scare me!💩
