That nonchalant attitude the fella had towards the most powerful man in the country? Mr Regular some corrections: 6 in XR6 designates 6 cylinders, and the XR gets remodeled headlights over the XT/Futura/Fairmont, not taillights. BF MK2 designates 6 Speed and remodeled taillights.
ArthurAlcantara it was more of a marketing thing as we had those at the time and back in the day we had the xr gt falcon which also had the twin headlights
tturi2 The XR GT you're talking about didn't have driving lights, and XR was the model name and not the trim level. The first XR series Falcons came out with the EB model, in 1993. As much as I try to understand every little reference you mention, I always miss half of them.. And it pisses me off ! x) I think the only one I think I fully got was the Yamaha R6 review. And I watched it 30 times. Anyways, I like every bit of what I am able to understand so thank you M. Regular :)
RegalCooper As a native English speaker I still only understand about half of the references. I'd have to take an english literature degree and move to Pennsylvania to get them all.
"Falcon is the only word I can correctly pronounce with an Australian accent" Yeah you were only convincing the Americans with that one mate, "correct" is a stretch.
This 2006 Falcon reminds me a lot of the 2006 Fusions. The shape is similar and those rims look exactly the same. But you know, I'd much rather have the Falcon.
Kijiji King same designer. Well same OG concept. Ford Evo?? I think. Right around 06 when the whole global market thing started. Ford needed an egressive design suited for the entire world not just Europe/USA/aus.
Just on an early point, not all the way through yet, our performance falcons of the 70s, 80s and 90s were V8s (351 all the way through, I believe), the xr6 came around in the 90s, but the xr8 was still the proper performance variant. The xr6 turbo wasn't taken seriously when it came out in the bf series, but soon outpaced the xr8. Still, the v8 variant has always been the 'true' performance variant.
The xr6 turbo was the fastest aussie produced car when it came out but the car that held that title prior was the straight 6 e49 valiant charger, and that had been around since the early 70s.. So 6 cylinders were definitely a big part of the au/nz muscle car era.
Not saying 6 cylinders weren't a big part, the e49 charger is my favourite of the big 3 aussie muscle cars (xy gtho and monaro being the others), don't forget the xu1, which was a smaller inline 6. Just saying the v8 falcons at least of the 70s were the equivalent of the mustang, our muscle car, not the 6 cylinder versions.
i've owned a 07' XR6 for 2 years and drove it from 120kkm to 160kkm. you can beat the living shit out of that thing and it still goes. it's also a popular car of choice by many taxi companies because the engine is know to go 1 million km before bust.
It's pretty good considering the car's 1700kg or 3750lb weight. I have an FG series (08-11 years) and on the highway I can average 8.5L/100km or 33MPG. Around town, you'll probably average closer to 12L/100km or 24MPG. It might have to do with the class-leading torque of the N/A engine, you're rarely over 2000RPM in driving.
Complaining about someone using units of measurement that don't mean much to you unless you convert them is the scientific equivalent of complaining that an ATM should just be in English automatically instead of making you pick a language at the start.
kuyan's interesting because they made no where near a million of these cars maybe close to 200,000 and I doubt you stand outside watching cars go past all day
The look, feel, and layout of my GTO (rebadged Holden) is making more sense now. Once I get the suspension sorted out I'll send the email in your preferred format and perhaps a review will happen.
Commodore - your old mate, that is always there for you. Falcon - Your wing man that's always got your back. I really hope you get to review a Holden Adventura (the SX6 & LX8 variants) someday or skip to the HSV Avalanche (wagon or ute) monsters! truly find them to be one of those really odd cars once you peel back a couple layers.
The Adventra is an amazing car - I own a CX6 and it's fantastic. Any of them are great, but the LX6 and LX8s are the peak. They've got the power, the traction, and the luxury. They corner like they're on rails, and event he V6 goes pretty hard with some minor tweaks. They'll also go nearly anywhere.
They nailed it with the final models, the FG & FG X. Even the base models were a blast to drive, let alone the turbos and V8 models. Can't believe how stupid trends have killed off these exceptionally enjoyable sedans, there's nothing else like them for the money. R.I.P. Falcon & Holden's Commodore.
Dude don't you ever change. Been watching your channel for a solid year so far, I was upset when I saw the video of car meet in Newark, NJ that's my hometown but I had relocated before then.
The car is pretty hard to beat runs on 91 octane tows 2300kg does about 6.9 to 100 has 6 speed zf and a bullet proof engine. And it cost about $40k when new.
"Aledged fuel consumption of... What does this even mean?.... 11.3l / 100km " FINALLY A VIDEO WHERE I DON'T HAVE TO GOOGLE CONVERT MPG TO L/100KM. BLESSED BE NZ. DOWN WITH THE IMPERIAL SYSTEM.
I live in australia its funny how normal they are. You see them evrywhere even the older falcons 90s models are still very common on the road. In fact i own a 94 ef myself
My family has always had Falcons from the XD to FG which FG is the next one after bf, and we haven't had to spend more than just the normal service. They are great cars and we are going to keep our Falcon until its goes which won't be for like 100 years.
You touched on the performance models. From FPV, Ford Performance Vehicles. In Australia. When the FPV Typhoon Turbo was released, it was the fastest sedan in the world, about $70 odd grand Australian. The BMW M5 was second, at $250k Australian ......
Im a Falcon guy too we but the FPV F6 Typhoon wasn't quickest in the world when it was released. The W211 AMG E55 had a supercharged 5.4L V8 and did 0 to 100 in 4.7s. The E39 M5 did the same sprint in 5.3s.
The Barra engine is good. I think partly because there was an engine development team at Ford Australia whose only job was to continually develop the Falcon straight 6. Straight 6's are a solid design anyway, and they make a great performance package when turboed. And the continual development and use in fleet service meant that all the flaws were gone and super strong by the end.
As an AU falcon owner (yeah AU does stand for Australia lol) I have to say this really hits the nail on the head. There aren't too many differences between the AU and the BF, other than the Barra engine, the 6 speed auto vs the 4 speed and obviously the much better looking front end. I used to own an old Corolla and it was fun, it was small, it didn't weigh much and it was a 5 speed manual but it was loud on the road, it felt really cheap, it looked really cheap, there was no electric assisted anything and the aircon didn't work. My Falcon has its fair share of issues: the interior light stays on for too long after the doors are locked or the car starts, the control station sits about 1.5mm too low and its headlights are fogging up but other than that it's been a totally solid car. I was really surprised at how good a balance between straight line power and taking corners Ford had figured out with the Falcon. It took corners as a 1.4 tonne car better than my old Corolla which weight like 900KG ish? Plus it's waaay faster in a straight line. I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm glad you liked the modern day Falcon Mr Regular :)
When I drove taxis in Sydney a while back, I would always request an AU II or AU III over a BA, even though the AU's in the fleet had well over 1/2 a million km on them by then. I just loved the way they sounded and their smoothness, even if they felt a lot less powerful. I drove on AUII with 700,000km and it purred like a kitten and the body was tight as a drum!
IndiekidDrugPatrol Servicing a Ford Falcon in UK very is hard as 99.99% of British mechanics have never worked on a Falcon. Nearly all parts have to imported from AU. Effecting a major service or repair is onerous and agonising due to lengthy sea freight transit times and high shipping costs. A BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 or Mercedes E Class beats an imported Falcon in the UK any day in respect to serviceability and reliability.
Russell Robinson The Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore were developed in large part due previous to protectionist trade policies from the 20th century. When imported car tariffs were lowered, which help made these imported cars becoming more favoured and desirable, it lead to the inevitable demise of these large sedans. Since the early 2000s, SUVs and compact cars have been the car type of choice for most car buyers, again, displacing full size sedans. At the end of the day, the Australian Ford and Holden (GM) operations are merely fully owned subsidiaries of the American parent company. Nothing more. Most Australians have never visited Detroit, Michigan, the home city of Ford and GM, so most Australians miss the point completely.
"Loud" stands for "Loudness". It is a filter that boosts the bass and treble, supposedly to help you hear things at low volumes. If you use it with high volume, it combines disco thumping with eardrum shattering highs.
1. There are plenty of V8 Falcons. In fact that touring car war fought with the Commodore was fought with V8's. 2. I'm pretty sure we had Mustangs and Camaros back in the day.
The 1965-68 Mustang was sold here through Ford in very low numbers. Anything after that was a private import. Camaros were only ever private import cars.
Each episode just gets more and more poetic lol. Makes me feel nostalgic for something I haven't experience or yet to experience makes me feel 50 and I'm not even 25 years old yet lol.
Why are you reviewing the non-performance oriented models of famous Australian cars? The turbo version of this car rips, so does the V8 version of the Commodore you reviewed.
I went to New Zealand in 2010 (en route to the eclipse in the Cook Islands) and rented a Falcon for some touring around the North Island. Nice car. :-)

As a Russian with a 2011 Megane RS modified... Thank you France.
France did something right with that car
I was wondering when a Falcon would show up.
I first saw this car in Gran Turismo 4 and have loved it ever since.
Ahh memories. This was our family car that I learnt to drive in. Plenty of power and it stuck to the road well. If only your reviewed a turbo model...
Pretty coool Yank review :-)
I’m a Falcon man thru and thru. You seemed to get it. Sooo sad they’re dead now
"Falcon is the only word I can correctly pronounce with an Australian accent" Yeah you were only convincing the Americans with that one mate, "correct" is a stretch.
That.Grey.Fiesta the XR6 of the 90s beat the XR8 in most comparisons, they had to slow it down
The 351 ended in 1982 the 302 was introduced in 1991 to the xr8 and tickford models so there was no v8 option for 9 years
Chrysler were the ones that were doing powerful 6 cylinders in the 70s with the 265 hemi.
What does this even mean. 26 MPG. What is that? (thats what a european said).
11L/100km - that means roughly 26MPG
joytech22: pretty good for a car with the straight 6.
L/100Km makes no sense to me. I still use Km/L even though I live in NZ.
"they got better again after 2003" dafaq you trying to say, Mr regular
I see these a million times a day.
kuyan's interesting because they made no where near a million of these cars maybe close to 200,000 and I doubt you stand outside watching cars go past all day
I had a 2007 XR6 Turbo with the 6sp... and with some mods. I'm European but it still put a big smile on my face.
The look, feel, and layout of my GTO (rebadged Holden) is making more sense now. Once I get the suspension sorted out I'll send the email in your preferred format and perhaps a review will happen.
I have owned two of these. Such reliable cars and such a smooth drive .They are a very beautiful car.
RIP Aussie Falcon RIP
They were great cars. In the tubo and V8 versions they were powerful, fast, comfortable, and practical. Nothing else quite like them in any market.
Stormlight Archive reference - I approve
Dude don't you ever change. Been watching your channel for a solid year so far, I was upset when I saw the video of car meet in Newark, NJ that's my hometown but I had relocated before then.
The car is pretty hard to beat runs on 91 octane tows 2300kg does about 6.9 to 100 has 6 speed zf and a bullet proof engine. And it cost about $40k when new.
This falcon actully looks very cool. I think I want one.
you pronounced falcon with a new Zealand accent its just falcon
usa pronunciation is fall-con, so he's done well.
yeah lol he did the NZ "Fill-ken"
Benjamin Naismith I’ll always like the kiwi Subaru pronunciation best: “soo-BAY-roo”
Roddy Dykes haven’t heard anyone pronounce it like that tbh
“Soo-bah-roo” is the norm, in the north island
You can also be kinda-racist and go with 'Palcon'
These cars just look good. Clean a simple with a kinda aggressive front end. I like it
"Aledged fuel consumption of... What does this even mean?.... 11.3l / 100km "
FINALLY A VIDEO WHERE I DON'T HAVE TO GOOGLE CONVERT MPG TO L/100KM. BLESSED BE NZ. DOWN WITH THE IMPERIAL SYSTEM.
I live in australia its funny how normal they are. You see them evrywhere even the older falcons 90s models are still very common on the road. In fact i own a 94 ef myself
The Way of Kings is a good book
My family has always had Falcons from the XD to FG which FG is the next one after bf, and we haven't had to spend more than just the normal service. They are great cars and we are going to keep our Falcon until its goes which won't be for like 100 years.
More Australian than the rotary washing line
Seeing this make me nostalgic for my older brothers same model silver xr6 that he got the most tacky airbrushed guns and roses seat covers, good times
I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm glad you liked the modern day Falcon Mr Regular :)
i'm guessing your Corolla didn't have a 4A-GE or 2ZZ-GE
Dion Christie yeah haha it's a 4af/3 or something. Really slow
Ford really dropped the ball by never marketing this vehicle anywhere else.... and then cancelling it
in Britain if you're really really cool you import a falcon over and confuse bmw drivers at traffic lights
My uncle has an Xr6 and it is this colour too. It's my favourite generation of falcon.
Would love to see a MCM and RCR collab at some point!
Gussechan RCR reviewing all the MCM builds would be awesome!
They were mostly low volume niche stuff, the official car of I love americana so much that I imported a base model mid 60s Mustang.
The 1965-68 Mustang was sold here through Ford in very low numbers. Anything after that was a private import. Camaros were only ever private import cars.
Johnny Gardner Then how do you explain Allan Moffatt’s Coke Mustang or Kevin Bartlett’s Channel 9 Camaro?
mat2000100 P R I V A T E I M P O R T
And the Monaro was essentially our Camaro
The was deep and I have a whole new appreciation for Falcons
Id like to see mr regular react to the turbo territory hahaha
If this was to arrive to the US (which I know now more than ever there's no hope for), I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
Wasn’t the MAD MAX car a modified Falcon?
Yep an XB Falcon
As an Australian, I just gotta thank you. Nice review.
You need to come to Australia and review the XR6 Turbo with the Barra Motor.
Each episode just gets more and more poetic lol. Makes me feel nostalgic for something I haven't experience or yet to experience makes me feel 50 and I'm not even 25 years old yet lol.
Murica needs this
David Hill. Not really, Ford has been showing concepts of another rwd car for the US market under the Torino name.
Damn right.
GM tried bringing some Australian cars to the US and putting more familiar badges on them, but they didn't sell enough to keep doing it.
wasn't cheap
Andrew Samy sadly electric cars will be here before Ford USA gets a RWD Sedan. That’s why I’m keeping my panther body as long as possible
The camera work seems more polished than older reviews. I like it!
Watching from Australia! you guys should pop over some time, we've got some real gems over here! anyways love your videos have a good one mate.
Finally read the way of kings. Damn this guy's culture goes deep in all types of different niches
I love australian cars
Being Australian, having someone excited to see an XR6 Falcon is incredibly amusing
THE BARRA!
Love this car! It looks like a more fit G8.
Thanks for this NZ trip Mr Regular!
Nice car. :-)
