That's why it's nothing for Apple to threaten to remove Twitter from their monopolistic app store. I don't think you're informed on what happened, just based on your words it's obvious you let other people form your opinion for you. You know WHAT to think(the video you watch just told you), just not HOW to think.
I'd advise you to do your own research and form your own opinions, rather than just watching a video and repeating what the person in the video told you your opinion is.
The scary thing is how many of you there are. I wonder what the root cause of this is, laziness? Indoctrination?

PS. I meant that Elon should not threat Apple as he has no monopoly here. But I was aware that possibly Apple has one and it may be an effective argument in court. But still, threats are not a good solution here. Elon needs lawyers, not twits.

LBRY is wanna be decentralised RUclips. You could see why there would be concerns with the content on a decentralised network. I'm not entirely sure what kind of moderation is in place on LBRY, but it would definitely not be the same as RUclips or other large players, hence Apple's concern.

Still their discounting of LBRY based on that quote alone is leaving me with a bad aftertaste. As far as I've heard that is the best actually applied use of blockchain I've ever seen, and it seems to kind of work.

      @@9SMTM6 Interesting.
It can be an issue even without the lack of an algorithm. Say you want to share some content that is explicitly hate speech or something that the internet unanimously agrees should be present. One could share this content via say Google Drive (or something similar) but then there is someone with the power to censor it.
With something that is truly decentralised, that entity would not exist.
Personally, I would like to know what keywords Apple asked LBRY to censor? Was it political in nature or something else entirely. I'm not a fan of how LBRY are not providing details.
Apple is usually not the good guy with App Store related incidents, however, I'm leaning towards them until more information on this comes out.

@@benjaminmeusburger4254 that's an awful analogy for starters. The value of most of these things is based on potential interaction, for example prime time TV advert slots cost way more than 1am slots becuase more people will watch them. This is the same, just becuase companies are dropping out for ideological reasons doesn't mean others wont see the benefit of being able to advertise to an even bigger audience. As usual with musk it's short term turbulence for long term gain, look at Telsa, or paypals early years vs now. Plus it's now actually being run like a business not an adult daycare center for privileged Californians who can't handle anything outside their safe spaces.

6:40 to answer your question - if an online social media service does not have certain levels of safeguards or can not answer questions from Apple then the app gets pulled from the app store - a number of Alt-right apps have been removed due to their lack of moderation and safeguarding some have returned after changes.

An alternative could be that many platforms get declared "common carriers" (under US law). That's more relevant to Facebook, RUclips, ect. but that and the anti-trust cases could worry Apple and Google.

Major mistake here - Apple is not a private company, it is public.
Private companies are not traded on stock exchanges because they don’t issue shares.
The “private company” argument is often used to justify “censorship” but the thing is, censorship is completely legal even given the “free speech” argument for any platform except the government.
Other than that, I generally agree with your video. Apologies for being pedantic but those are very important legal, financial, and political concepts.
