Nagato class is also a Fast Battleship, this should be taken into account. Almost every single battleship built in the same era where only 20 or 21 knots capable while having just 305, 320, 340 or 356mm guns. Nagato could reach 26.5 knots carrying a insane 410mm main battery. She was basically the fastest, biggest and had the biggest guns from her era.
@@ryanh2621Actually the first "Fast Battleships" were the Queen Elizabeth class. That was even what the navy called them in WWI because their 25kt speed was 5kts faster than anything else in their navy and just about 4kts faster than their contemporaries in the Kaiserlichmarine.

What I like to watch on WT naval is how the ships feel like actual ships instead of RC models in a lake like they do in World of Warships. But, on the flip side, you would reach tier 10 in every tech tree in WoWs in the time it takes to reach top tier in a single nation in WT lol.
You also need to look at how terrible is the battles. If I'm not wrong, nagato is a VIII Battleship at WoWs where here we saw nagato fighting agaist a Nassau class, Hellgoland class and also old and weak russian battleships. There are few ships capable of taking down a Mutsu in WT
@@moonlightsparkle2690 well yeah it's a new ship. That's how Nagato-class would actually fare had she entered a interwar naval engagement. Even USA on 1940s were nore wary of her and Mutsu even more than the Yamatos because the two actually function and join combat

@@LarryPigeon1 Overrated ship. Outclassed by all other battleships built in the same time period yet gets infinite glaze because it sunk a ww1 era battlecruiser with a lucky shot.
Its cuz their designs are based on old sacred buildings called "Pagoda". Go to google and take a look on "pagoda mast" and "pagoda temple". Pagodas are beautiful (and the ships forecastles are too
honestly i think that would be a fun event that plays out like BF1 operations, first stage is all navel second stage the winners of the first can either spawn on the beach's with a tank or stay in ships and provide navel artillery as the attackers 3rd and final is a more traditional tank on tank RB battle with no navel
I have no knowledge of ships in war thunder but when i saw the caliber and size of this thing i expected it to be a post ww2 battleship, absolutely filled my pants when i heard it's a ww1 battleship.
Interesting fact: Even with the introduction of other WW2 era battleships, the Nagato class will be the biggest for a while because other WW2 16 inch armed ships measured at exactly 16 inches (406) as opposed to the 16.1(410) that Nagato has. (Note that this doesn't mean that just because the Nagato's are bigger by 0.1 inches will mean that they are the most powerful. I'm sure the 16 inch 50cal super heavy AP rounds that the Iowas can fire would gladly claim that.)
13:48 Dollar got Bismarcked, just with bombs instead of torps. 14:22 Enemy Fuso got that Hood treatment. 14:34 Dollar got quarter Bismarck treatment, getting focused by two ships.
@@datcheesecakeboi6745 he got Bismarcked, then he destroyed that Fuso by exploding its ammo compartment. While it may not really be that accurate since Dollar got Bismarcked first, it happened within a short amount of time from each other. Plus, one could say the other ships that he destroyed with a single volley got the Hood treatment. It's just that Fuso one happened within like a short amount of time from when Dollar got Bismarcked.
They have to get bigger, balanced maps. 16" guns is just overkill at the current ranges. I never though they'd go above cruiser 8" or the German 11" guns.
Ya Bot Ships spawning on all your sides at the start of the game is annoying as hell. You cant move left or right at the start to move out or avoid incoming fire without ramming one or being rammed. Also the spawning of Coastal boats facing in the wrong direction.
Nagato refit will be a slower but trade off with better armor and better AP penetration. But I wonder what will they do with Iowa and Yamato. Both of these two classes only designed to fight at closer ranges.
@@robertharris6092 That wouldn’t make much sense as historically Nagato still reload the same rate as her un refit ones. It just have better AP shells that have longer delay fuse, to maximize the damage. And Nagato have slightly better armor after refit as she is adapting American All for nothing armor scheme.
Love your naval content, Dollar. I'm grinding up the British tree, hopefully they add the Nelson in whilst I'm still chewing through tier IV. I hate to ask, but what skills should I be focussing on my bluewater naval crews?
With guns that big and slow you should really consider using ranging shots to range and probe so you don't miss with full salvos trying to zero in on enemies.
Later in the year we will get IJN Nagato herself along with others from the Big 7 (Nagato, Mutsu, Colorado, Maryland, West Virginia, Nelson and Rodney) plus most like Bismarck, Roma and Dunkerque
I feel like naval battles have huge potential if Gaijin would actually work on it. Tbh the whole game has a lot more potential if they could do things like dynamic battles and game modes on bigger maps.

That is one sexy firing angle on those rear turrets. Also, is it just me or Dollar doesn`t understand deck pen. At long range you would be expecting to pen through the deck.
Much love from another Naval Player, good gameplay of having fun on it also! Still love the 5-inch guns reload speed, but wait yamato?! Nah we get Bismark before that :b Either way Aux Cannon Life
Remember when USSR placed a 400 mm and 420 mm high velocity naval cannon on a tracked artillery platform? Yeah, one of these guns was at one time put on an artillery piece and they are still sometimes paraded around Moscow
Maybe someday we could see a video about Admiral Graf Spee? This is a completely unique vehicle with the most powerful guns for 5.7 and it would be very interesting to see, how you would manage it.
I think the reason the AI are so survivable is is because you're using an AP shell and completely over-penning them. Bet results will change if you use HE as those have the proper pen for the smaller ships' armor.

Dollar, the fun fact at the beginning is that Nagato Class is a WW1 era (circa 1917) battleship💀
The Japanese sure had the knowhow to make the best ships but didn't have the resources to run them at full potential.
Nagato class is actually whats known as a second generation super dreadnought, not a fast battleship, those didn't come until the interwar years
Well, they were completed in 1920, and 1921
@@ryanh2621Actually the first "Fast Battleships" were the Queen Elizabeth class. That was even what the navy called them in WWI because their 25kt speed was 5kts faster than anything else in their navy and just about 4kts faster than their contemporaries in the Kaiserlichmarine.
Also, the modernized battleship Nagato will have a reload time of 21 seconds for its 410mm guns! :)
Oh my god, that thing will be dangerous
and might capable to use Type91 APCBC

What I like to watch on WT naval is how the ships feel like actual ships instead of RC models in a lake like they do in World of Warships. But, on the flip side, you would reach tier 10 in every tech tree in WoWs in the time it takes to reach top tier in a single nation in WT lol.
Is it that fast in wows? Holy cow

3rd and final is a more traditional tank on tank RB battle with no navel
imagine geting blasted by naval

Nagato and Mutsu, pride if the IJN
Can’t wait for the Wisconsin and Missouri Desert War Refits

Naval is quite a bit of fun, I just haven’t played it in a while
Wow naval look as fun and as ballanced as rest of the game
They have to get bigger, balanced maps. 16" guns is just overkill at the current ranges. I never though they'd go above cruiser 8" or the German 11" guns.
Ya Bot Ships spawning on all your sides at the start of the game is annoying as hell. You cant move left or right at the start to move out or avoid incoming fire without ramming one or being rammed. Also the spawning of Coastal boats facing in the wrong direction.
We definitely need bigger maps for these guns. Otherwise, armor won't be very effective.
Nagato refit will be a slower but trade off with better armor and better AP penetration.
But I wonder what will they do with Iowa and Yamato. Both of these two classes only designed to fight at closer ranges.
Someone said the reffit should have a 21s reload.

I think the reason the AI are so survivable is is because you're using an AP shell and completely over-penning them. Bet results will change if you use HE as those have the proper pen for the smaller ships' armor.
