Nagato class is also a Fast Battleship, this should be taken into account. Almost every single battleship built in the same era where only 20 or 21 knots capable while having just 305, 320, 340 or 356mm guns. Nagato could reach 26.5 knots carrying a insane 410mm main battery. She was basically the fastest, biggest and had the biggest guns from her era.
@@ryanh2621Actually the first "Fast Battleships" were the Queen Elizabeth class. That was even what the navy called them in WWI because their 25kt speed was 5kts faster than anything else in their navy and just about 4kts faster than their contemporaries in the Kaiserlichmarine.
@@asdsafasf3The Japanese had early automated systems in the 1920s. The guns had a firing cycle of 24 seconds at loading angles. When the ships were upgraded in the mid 1930s, their turrets were replaced with Tosa's turrets that were modified in storage to allow higher elevation angles and allowed the firing cycle to be reduced to 21 seconds.

What I like to watch on WT naval is how the ships feel like actual ships instead of RC models in a lake like they do in World of Warships. But, on the flip side, you would reach tier 10 in every tech tree in WoWs in the time it takes to reach top tier in a single nation in WT lol.
You also need to look at how terrible is the battles. If I'm not wrong, nagato is a VIII Battleship at WoWs where here we saw nagato fighting agaist a Nassau class, Hellgoland class and also old and weak russian battleships. There are few ships capable of taking down a Mutsu in WT
@@moonlightsparkle2690 well yeah it's a new ship. That's how Nagato-class would actually fare had she entered a interwar naval engagement. Even USA on 1940s were nore wary of her and Mutsu even more than the Yamatos because the two actually function and join combat

I wonder if we will see the original South Dakota class. All 6 were laid down, nearly half were more then 30% complete, with their hulls laid down and 70 Mark 2, 16in 50cal guns made for them. All of the hulls were scrapped and the guns sent for testing and to coastal batteries. Many can still be seen today in displays, museums, training areas and one orbital gun(two of them put together) abandoned in Barbados. That would be interesting since they carried 12 guns each in 4x triple turrets. They were nearly idendical in characteristics of the Mark 7 of the Iowas, just heavier. Its a WW1 design that was meant to counter Nagatos and Queen Elizabeth class ships. Also, shockingly for a US WW1 era ship, they had a fire rate of 2 rounds per minute for a heavy gun.
13:48 Dollar got Bismarcked, just with bombs instead of torps. 14:22 Enemy Fuso got that Hood treatment. 14:34 Dollar got quarter Bismarck treatment, getting focused by two ships.
@@datcheesecakeboi6745 he got Bismarcked, then he destroyed that Fuso by exploding its ammo compartment. While it may not really be that accurate since Dollar got Bismarcked first, it happened within a short amount of time from each other. Plus, one could say the other ships that he destroyed with a single volley got the Hood treatment. It's just that Fuso one happened within like a short amount of time from when Dollar got Bismarcked.
Nagato refit will be a slower but trade off with better armor and better AP penetration. But I wonder what will they do with Iowa and Yamato. Both of these two classes only designed to fight at closer ranges.
@@robertharris6092 That wouldn’t make much sense as historically Nagato still reload the same rate as her un refit ones. It just have better AP shells that have longer delay fuse, to maximize the damage. And Nagato have slightly better armor after refit as she is adapting American All for nothing armor scheme.
"How are these boats so survivable" Read about the Johnston Dollar. TL;dr: a destroyer refused to die, right up until the japanese realised it was a destroyer and the AP was overpenning... so they swapped to HE. OFC by that time, Johnston more a large piece of swiss cheese rather than a boat... Looking at these things I wonder how Hood performs, since it's also tier 7.
I have no knowledge of ships in war thunder but when i saw the caliber and size of this thing i expected it to be a post ww2 battleship, absolutely filled my pants when i heard it's a ww1 battleship.
Interesting fact: Even with the introduction of other WW2 era battleships, the Nagato class will be the biggest for a while because other WW2 16 inch armed ships measured at exactly 16 inches (406) as opposed to the 16.1(410) that Nagato has. (Note that this doesn't mean that just because the Nagato's are bigger by 0.1 inches will mean that they are the most powerful. I'm sure the 16 inch 50cal super heavy AP rounds that the Iowas can fire would gladly claim that.)
They have to get bigger, balanced maps. 16" guns is just overkill at the current ranges. I never though they'd go above cruiser 8" or the German 11" guns.
Ya Bot Ships spawning on all your sides at the start of the game is annoying as hell. You cant move left or right at the start to move out or avoid incoming fire without ramming one or being rammed. Also the spawning of Coastal boats facing in the wrong direction.
Later in the year we will get IJN Nagato herself along with others from the Big 7 (Nagato, Mutsu, Colorado, Maryland, West Virginia, Nelson and Rodney) plus most like Bismarck, Roma and Dunkerque

I feel like naval battles have huge potential if Gaijin would actually work on it. Tbh the whole game has a lot more potential if they could do things like dynamic battles and game modes on bigger maps.
We need more space between capital ships when spawning in , simulator to how wows handles the starting positions on certain maps , aircraft carriers can also work similar too in terms of control mechanics. I just hope for the best possible future.
I was planning to get this while grinding for the naval event But alot of bugs where happening which was frustrating especially the infinite repair thing So i lost interest Please make them change naval bro at least the spawn points
With guns that big and slow you should really consider using ranging shots to range and probe so you don't miss with full salvos trying to zero in on enemies.
ouch that first fight, should have had secondaries and primaries bound to a single key enabled in the options menu. A little extra lead downrange always helps ;) (you also didn't launch your torps against that large mass of ships either)

Dollar, the fun fact at the beginning is that Nagato Class is a WW1 era (circa 1917) battleship💀
The Japanese sure had the knowhow to make the best ships but didn't have the resources to run them at full potential.
Nagato class is actually whats known as a second generation super dreadnought, not a fast battleship, those didn't come until the interwar years
Well, they were completed in 1920, and 1921
@@ryanh2621Actually the first "Fast Battleships" were the Queen Elizabeth class. That was even what the navy called them in WWI because their 25kt speed was 5kts faster than anything else in their navy and just about 4kts faster than their contemporaries in the Kaiserlichmarine.
a ww1 410mm battleship cannon reloads faster than an is2 lmao
granted that the whole mechanism is bigger than the tank and it is competing with one (1) soviet man
@@Parkourboy86 One soviet man fed entirely on potatoes.
Fed? Doubt that@@The_War_Pug
did they already have the fancy automated setup like in the Yamato? the yamato's reloading mechanism is probably the only one I know about
@@asdsafasf3The Japanese had early automated systems in the 1920s. The guns had a firing cycle of 24 seconds at loading angles. When the ships were upgraded in the mid 1930s, their turrets were replaced with Tosa's turrets that were modified in storage to allow higher elevation angles and allowed the firing cycle to be reduced to 21 seconds.
Also, the modernized battleship Nagato will have a reload time of 21 seconds for its 410mm guns! :)
Oh my god, that thing will be dangerous
and might capable to use Type91 APCBC

Love the Japanese Nagato and Fuso class vessels. Something about the Forecastle and superstructure that does it for me

What I like to watch on WT naval is how the ships feel like actual ships instead of RC models in a lake like they do in World of Warships. But, on the flip side, you would reach tier 10 in every tech tree in WoWs in the time it takes to reach top tier in a single nation in WT lol.
Is it that fast in wows? Holy cow

06:43 too soon man, too soon.
i havent played war thunder in a long time, but i think Mutsu has only like 4x1 76mm AA guns

@@datcheesecakeboi6745 he got Bismarcked, then he destroyed that Fuso by exploding its ammo compartment. While it may not really be that accurate since Dollar got Bismarcked first, it happened within a short amount of time from each other. Meanwhile, Yamato in WT mobile:
Nagato refit will be a slower but trade off with better armor and better AP penetration.
But I wonder what will they do with Iowa and Yamato. Both of these two classes only designed to fight at closer ranges.
Someone said the reffit should have a 21s reload.
Finally I knew this was coming and I have been waiting for this

"How are these boats so survivable"
Read about the Johnston Dollar.
Interesting
There are more examples lika a russian river boat with more holes than hull that got to port
I have no knowledge of ships in war thunder but when i saw the caliber and size of this thing i expected it to be a post ww2 battleship, absolutely filled my pants when i heard it's a ww1 battleship.
Finally i am in one of your videos.

man tanks are one thing but the gun firing sounds of these old battleships are on another level💪❤
These are new sounds for 410mm guns. Pretty good ;)
Ground vehicles: *literally caught up to the modern day in some cases*
Boats: *Not even world war 2*
the fact that they allow ships to spawn bunched up like that is THE most ARSED idea ever.
We definitely need bigger maps for these guns. Otherwise, armor won't be very effective.
Naval spawns are the wosrt spawns ever especially for the large battle ships, its just a race to see who can shoot the other person first
the anti air didn't work because you have to set it to aim to plane ( you can even set it to aim to boat eather)

They're remarkably survivable and quite punchy (your advice you gave me in another vid about keeping the crew below decks by having the repair set to manual rather than automatic has allowed me to have better matches and finally spade the Omaha class, so thanks for the tip!)
