Speed is a massive advantage in striking and we saw it recently with max vs geathje too, and also volk vs max 3 where max couldn't do anything to volk. Islam is a rediculous talent honestly and in a scary way (and I just realized it recently looking back on his other fights) he just started to really work on his striking recently and he is already at a level where he can out strike 2 of the best striker in the ufc (volk, poirier) something even Max couldn't do. Oliveira was considered the best submission artist in the history of the ufc, and Islam decided to subbed him like he was nothing. Volk was considered by many the best striker in the ufc, and Islam outstriked him in the 1st and koed him in the 2nd fight. And lastly poirier who was thought out by many to be the best boxer in the ufc snd Islam decide to just out boxe him. Some people can make the argument he is both the best :wrestler, grappler, bjj player and also striker in the ufc too, and this argument has solid proof to back it up as well... Honestly what Abdulmanap manage to accomplish with khabib and Islam was otherworldly, he trained two kids from childhood and made them in to the best fighters on earth and both reached p4p king status, and khabib had the potential to be the absolute goat if tragedy didn't hit him and he hadn't retired early. And that's not including all the Olympic medalist in wrestling and judo he he trained and mentor.
