Same!!. Couldn't have said it better myself. This Era was what got me into the game. The playoffs felt like tv late night dramas. Your vids are very entertaining and leaves me with more questions than answers.
I commented a longer post about the history of shoe colors and stuff. Kenny mentioned a guy on BOS wearing red shoes which was not allowed. Here’s cliff notes if ppl are curious. It’s interesting IMO. *CLIFF NOTES* Early on (most of league history) shoes had to be basically black/white with maybe a very small team color accent. Home white jerseys you had to have at least 51% white, and away jerseys at least 51% black. So it seems like you basically had to wear all black (or mostly black w a little white) w road jerseys, and all white (or mostly white w a little black) with home jerseys. You could have like a very small accent or stripe of your team’s color on them beside that, but that’s about it. Then MJ really changed the game with his red and black J1’s. The league sent him a warning basically banning them in the mid 80s, and Nike used it as a marketing campaign and player’s sneakers started to be a big deal. Then in the 2000s they started to allow you to wear solid team colors, like all green for Celtics or all red for Bulls, or white/black. They seemed to start loosening up during the whole Jordan thing, which led to the solid colors, which led to themed sneaker nights in early 2010s for holidays and the finals, which eventually led to the change in 2018 to where we are now. One more thing. The first player to get a signature shoe deal was Walt “Clyde” Frazier with Puma. The Puma Clydes. He paved the way for signature shoe deals for NBA players. Not even guys like Bird had his own shoe. Converse was the official shoe of the NBA, and while guys like Bird & Magic did commercials for them and really made them famous, I don’t think Bird ever got his own shoe…and Magic didn’t get his own til later. Didn’t do a lot of research in to Magic’s shoes but it seems like he did get a signature after a while, but he was def doing commercials and stuff for regular Converse at first. And as far as I know Bird never did. Regardless I know Clyde was the first ever NBA player. Some pretty elite HOF players never got their own signature shoe. Guys like Duncan, Nash, Bird, Stockton, and I’m sure many others. For non bball players, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, etc. Obviously a lot of young stars don’t have them rn but I’m sure they’ll get them soon. *END OF CLIFF NOTES* My other post has the article (I shortened it to just the important parts) if you’re curious to read it. I’ll reply in the comments with it.
It says “For much of the NBA’s history, footwear worn by all its players has gone through a series of varying restrictions. Historically, all sneakers on a team were restricted to being either 51% white or black, plus a minimal color accent, depending on which team was home or visiting.” “During the 84-85 season, MJ famously received a warning letter effectively banning his black and red Air Jordan 1 sneakers. Nike turned the ordeal in to a marketing campaign for his debut signature shoe and never looked back.” “By the late 2000s, shoes in full team colors were allowed league-wide, meaning Bulls players could wear all red, Celtics players could wear all green, in addition to white or black.” “In 2012, the league added theme nights…blah blah working with sneaker companies to create storytelling shoes for a bunch of holidays and other moments. During the Finals & on a team’s ring night, gold accented shoes were allowed. There were 10 themed sneaker nights in the regular season.” “Now (as of 18-19) the only restrictions are third party logos which will have to be pre-approved by the NBA. And there are still restrictions against any sharp protruding objects or reflective elements such as gleaming chrome.” “Of course a team can institute its own policy. During the early 2010s, Pat Riley famously relayed to Nike reps that “all of my soldiers wear the same colored boots” as the brand was looking for LBJ to wear more vibrant red or yellow colored sneakers.” So really Nike/Jordan Brand/Jordan were the catalyst to get to where we are now, at least more modern day influences. Bird and Magic made Converse pretty famous, but I’m pretty sure neither of them actually got their own signature show. They did commercials for them and stuff, but Converse was the official shoe of the NBA for a long time. They def made them famous though. Clyde Frazier was actually the first player with his own signature shoe deal. He had a deal with Puma. He was known as a super flashy player back then and always dressed well. Players got free shoes and stuff before, but the shoes were really bland. Walt “Clyde” Frazier used to wear Converse with one blue lace and one orange lace to stand out. The existing Puma bball shoes were heavy, bland, and clunky. Clyde wouldn’t wear them, so they asked him what he wanted in a pair of bball shoes. He told them they had to be light, flexible, but still have padding to protect his foot. The Puma Clydes were born. They had the word Clyde on one side, and even tho they didn’t explode nationally, they were huge in NY, and became a street shoe as well as a bball shoe. It was embraced in hip-hop culture, skateboarding, etc. Clyde still has a relationship with Puma to this day. He really paved the way for signature shoe deals.
I absolutely love this era of the nba and I love seeing names that I forgot ever played. Especially the randoms that everyone knew that weren’t even good. Feels like anyone could make a roster back in the day with some of these names 😂
Celtics beat the Lakers in 6, Blake goes to the Clippers and Harden goes to OKC. It's so eerie how similar the first 30 minutes of this video has been to real life
Kenny I love it! One recommendation would be to force win on higher seeds for play-in teams for the realism. Hope all is well. Keep up the good work (:
Let's gooo!! Love the reset! Crazy how everyone just started goin to diff teams. Kobe on the heat is wild. Looking forward to this reset. Hopfully it goes up
23:41 “everyone loves to add one extra inch to their height” yes unless you Anthony Davis who lies about his height so can try to get out of playing center 😂😂
I've recently reset to 2008 and playing with a young Drose and Noah is so nostalgic as a bulls fan, having Richard Hamilton with his face mask and now having a young Embiid and rookie Lavine to carry to the torch...ugh I'm so fanboying right now
25:11 Kenny, you and Kobe both missed Bynum wide open under the basket. That got me tight. 27:28 Ray could've stepped back and pulled up. That got me tight. Lol
Nice catch with the different color shoes. That’s something I instantly noticed (idk why) and was like that’s something you could never see back then. Then you said it lol. I don’t remember the exact rules. I know you for sure couldn’t wear like all red shoes in a BOS/LAL home or away jersey. But I think you could wear like white or black shoes in most cases. Like how one of the Lakers players is wearing black shoes with the purple/gold (they had black trim anyway) ones. I’ll have to look that up bc I’m curious, idk if I’ll find it tho. I know for sure you couldn’t wear crazy colors that didn’t at all match the jerseys, but I forget exactly how it was. I think it changed a little to like everyone had to wear the same color shoes really early on to where some ppl could wear green, some green and white, some white (with BOS jerseys) for example. I’ll edit this if I find some answers. Edit: So I found an article about the history. I tried to just paste the important parts, and edit them to make it shorter, but still long. So I did also write cliff notes right below if ppl care. *CLIFF NOTES* Early on (most of league history) shoes had to be basically black/white with maybe a very small team color accent. Home white jerseys you had to have at least 51% white, and away jerseys at least 51% black. D12 to the 3pt shootout! I really love to see more gameplay when jumping in. It makes it more immersive rather than just looking at text! Just a suggestion, been a fan for a long time and will continue to support
You reminded me to leave it a like, and I went to do it, and already like, I think I like the vide Kenny. Looking forward to more from this series. No need for Mike Breen when we have you Kenny. BANG!
Dwyane wade was the reason I fell in love with basketball. Actually bought a pair of his Li-Ning shoes from china thanks to giving money to a foreign exchange student. So fun to watch
Looking good for me and my Grizz fandom! LBJ feels so right. It also is great to see OJ Mayo hoop, I was all about my mans. He is still a part of every password I have today at soon to be 26 years tomorrow. Different era for sure, no way we are grit and grind, but LBJ at the four with these rosters going to be a problem!
Kenny can you do the wheel of badges rebuild, you could make one for shooting, finishing, playmaking, and defensive badges. You have to make a wheel of badges and say you land on catch and shoot you use the random number generator to get one of the players with that badge then you rebuild 👍
I love seeing older realistic mods that got the detail like the very first player IGUODALA actually looking like he did at the time. It’s beautiful 😂I wish I had a laptop for all that

Man I’m having a bad ass trip and feel shit, but Kenny’s barbershop style of talking is great at comforting people, thanks homie
The 99-10 Decade was AMAZING ❤️🏀
And 11-22 is perfect
Need PT2 -- Pierce has always been my fav player and loved that 2008 Celtics, great to see them all together again.
Selfish comment here but I need the next episode ASAP, banger series! Thank you Kenny!

kenny: “bosh”
Video idea:

Kenny calling 2009 draft the Blake Griffin and Harden draft
Curry: Hello?
I love the long simulation videos hopefully we get part 2 soon. I could watch the whole series in one sitting like its a netflix binge
Hows nobody noticing the magic came back from 3-1 in the finals!
Please make more of these!! They’re great to watch!
20:26 "age of 76"- kenny
Bro Andre Miller was 40 years old his whole career 😂 😂
LETS GOOOOO Kenny with another resimulation! you really da goat appreciate all the work my man!
Lol
absolutely loved this great video man keep them coming
The league sent him a warning basically banning them in the mid 80s, and Nike used it as a marketing campaign and sneakers started be a big deal.
*END OF CLIFF NOTES, PARAPHRASED ARTICLE BELOW*
It says “For much of the NBA’s history, footwear worn by all its players has gone through a series of varying restrictions. Historically, all sneakers on a team were restricted to being either 51% white or black, plus a minimal color accent, depending on which team was home or visiting.”
“During the 84-85 season, MJ famously received a warning letter effectively banning his black and red Air Jordan 1 sneakers. Nike turned the ordeal in to a marketing campaign for his debut signature shoe and never looked back.”
“By the late 2000s, shoes in full team colors were allowed league-wide, meaning Bulls players could wear all red, Celtics players could wear all green, in addition to white or black.”
“In 2012, the league added theme nights…blah blah working with sneaker companies to create storytelling shoes for a bunch of holidays and other moments. During the Finals & on a team’s ring night, gold accented shoes were allowed. There were 10 themed sneaker nights in the regular season.”
“Now (as of 18-19) the only restrictions are third party logos which will have to be pre-approved by the NBA. And there are still restrictions against any sharp protruding objects or reflective elements such as gleaming chrome.”
“Of course a team can institute its own policy. During the early 2010s, Pat Riley famously relayed to Nike reps that “all of my soldiers wear the same colored boots” as the brand was looking for LBJ to wear more vibrant red or yellow colored sneakers.”
