- We continue our series of Top 40 Radio Hits throughout the decades with a look at the birth of Rock & Roll. Z-Bear & Lil Chile team up to play some of the top hits from the first 6 years of Rock (1954-1959). In these early examples of the genre, you can really hear the heavy influence of R&B, Blues and Country that inspired the writers and performers of these songs.

You're raising that boy right 👍
Jr. lots of people listening to your choices was your age when these songs were first recorded. Excellent job. parents taught you well. Thank you.
It's very exciting to see a kid get into good music on vinyl. Brings me back to when I was kid playing my dad's record collection. You rock!!
Mahalo, Ryan! We super appreciate you watching and commenting,
Great oldies.
Glad your teaching son early start them you thats my motto
He had his first turnable and records long before he streamed his first song. We believe having a relationship with physical media leads to a greater appreciation of the music being listened to.
I have a lot of these from my parents on 78 instead of 33 or 45.
Hang onto those 78s! 30s & 40s Bing Band and Hit Parade stuff on 78 is common and easy to find. However Rock and Pop from the 50s on 78 is far more rare. It is like trying to find mid 80s albums on 8-Track. They are out there though hard to find.
@@VillaVybes I know, I also have a lot of 40s R&B, Jazz, Swing, and Big Band stuff on 78.
I love that you got Lloyd Price in there. My favorite song of his is "Personality." Maybe in the future you could include some novelty songs. I love The Coasters and Stan Freberg (he released a steady string of hits from 1951 to 1960). His satirical takes are genius, especially of "Sh-Boom," "Try" (his take on "Cry"), "The Great Pretender", "The Yellow Rose of Texas," and my favorite, "Rock Around Stephen Foster" (his take on "Rock Around the Clock"). There are many others.
How beautiful to share with your child ,this passion for music, i remember that i also started playing the recordings of my parents and uncles in theirs turntables and memorizing each melody from the 50,s to 90,s ,congratulations great work

Brings back memories of the heat, humidity and the wind blowing in my face while riding in the back seat of my parents '57 Buick Roadmaster on the way to a day of fun in the sun at Galveston Tx. 🎣😅👍
