Came back for my third listen with Ryan and have another Cry. Even more beautiful every time I hear this. And I have to agree with Ryan. Kanami Tono is my Guitar Hero.
I think Kanami and Miku kind of share a part of their music brains. Miku says she listens to the music and then writes what it makes her feel. I'm sure there's more to it than that, has to be at least some collaboration, but their ability to match music and lyrics is really just ... something else. Saiki's ability to interpret and convey the emotion just hits you right in the feels. Miku was right, these 5 finding each other was a miracle.
I always piss off when I drive through road cameras with 40 km speed limit. The road goes nowhere, nobody cross it, yet they put f… cameras. But when I put Anemone, I became suddenly peaceful and calm, and I enjoy driving slowly, even at 20. That’s the power of this song.
Anemone is basically the perfect song, and easily one of the best I've heard in my life. The fact that Kanami can then turn around and arrange it as an intimate acoustic piece, with Saiki nailing the lead vocals, is nothing short of amazing.
Kanami is my guitar Hero! And such a brilliant composer! There are a lot of players that are technically better than her. But what she has is feel and emotion. She compliments the song. Makes it better. In Nashville we call leads like her's Tasty! Band Maid Forever! I'm a songwriter and I was always caught up on lyrics. Yeah they are important. But the Maids in general and Kanami in particular have taught me so much about how music compliments lyrics. I don't have to understand any lyrics to get what their songs are about! Watched this twice! Thanks Ryan! 😊😎✌🤘🤘🤘🤘
Kudos to Miku for seeing the talent in Kanami and reaching out to her to help start the band. Miku describes it as a miracle. Kanami -- not into fashion and appearance, "clueless" -- was often overlooked at auditions, I believe. People didn't look past the surface. Miku did brilliantly talent scouting Kanami. And Kanami pulled in Akane, who pulled in Misa. Miku got three outstanding musicians and one outstanding composer when she found Kanami. No wonder Miku calls it a miracle. Her dream band, still playing many years alter. Pigeon did well. Lots of people start bands. Miku started a _marvelous_ band.
Kanami is one in a million. She's something else, and it's not about technique - I've never heard someone surprising me so often with unexpected guitar parts, harmonies, arrangements and of course compositions. There's so many great musicians but original ones are much rarer - and she's the very definition of originality.
The most amazing thing though, is how she might have faded into obscurity or simply never developed what she is capable of doing today, if not for the fact that Miku reached out to her. Kanami’s songwriting is amazing but it’s only possible because of what each of the other girls bring to the table and their absolute trust in each other as well as the emotional and technical support they give each other. I also think it’s easier and less stressful for her to be able to write whatever she wants without worrying about lyrics… because she knows that Miku will handle the rest after she’s done, and well her role is just to compose.
This is the testament of how far and how wide Band Maid can reach. That bittersweet solo of the rock version, that broken voice of Saiki in the acoustic version, the lyrics, in short, all the feeling that these girls can display ... amazing. This band is a sharpshooter. As soon as they have your soul in their sight, they do not hesitate to hit you. Kanami, guitar hero ... she is a true muse, goddess of music. At least it seems to me. Great job Ryan. I'm really enjoying a lot walking with you throughout your journey listening to Band Maid.
Great Reaction & Review! This band needs to be illuminated. I like to imagine Kanami walking in public totally anonymous, while some street reporter randomly interviews someone pointing at her and stating: "Would you believe if I told you there goes one of the greatest living guitarist in the world" I guarantee no one would believe it and that is a real shame. In fact, it should be criminal that Kanami and the rest of the Maidens are as obscure as they are. What really is criminal Band-Maid has less than half a million subscribers to their channel. Meanwhile, some kids have millions of subscribers watching them play video games. That is a real shame.
Mincho made a comment how she would like to write music that people 100 years from now will enjoy.... imho she has accomplished that, Kanami and Band-Maid are a gift to the music world. Hush.....Angels are speaking .
Definitely. They are rising to fame rather slowly... but steadily. In 100 years, I'm sure they'll be in the common list of "classical music of the 20th century."
The acustic version is so beautiful. When you mention how the lyrics match perfectly with the song it's something that always blows me away how it works so well, Kanami writes whatever the f she wants and then Kobato finds the right words to make the song complete. P.S. Nice t-shirt.
When the screen text popped up saying "it's like falling in love, over and over again" .. I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely beautiful and amazing song.
You are the only reactor I return to, on occasion, for the same song. Some times you want a friend to hear/share your favorite shite with And yes I still cry when i hear this.
The moment I heard the solo on thrill all those years ago I knew right then I was certainly going to love this band, 6 years later I'm stunned at how emotionally invested I am with regards to Band Maid, I feel a kinship with other musician's who can appreciate who and what this group of artists, pioneers, musician's, influencers are all about, thank you Ryan.
As I as watching this video a thought came to me that was, how does listening to Band-Maid make me feel. There are a ton of emotions but Anemone in particular makes me feel like I am hearing rock music for the 1st time in my life. The music that Kanami and the band put together is unlike anything else. Truly a unique, special, talented and amazing band!
These girls bring me to years, they are so sweet, humble and immensely talented. They have a natural synergy that few bands have ever had. Always cheers me up and restores faith in humanity when I listen to them. Love the maids!
they are without question responsible for the most holy shits out of me and no other band is close at this point. And the 2nd solo in Anemone is top 5 Kanami for me. I really hope they do it full electric some time. I'm sure they'll get around to it. As for the tearing up....they've done it to me many a time. This is an extraordinarily special band. If I am ever in the same room as these women I will probably unapologetically weep like a baby.
@0:02~ I knew you were a psychic, because it's miraculous that you chose a female band living in the Far East from among the many stars! Gosh.. I'm literally crying :"(
Hi Mami-San, just wondering if all is well with you? I know you’ve been a mega fan of band-maid for a long time, but I feel like you have been commenting a lot more on videos and reactions in the past few months compared to before. Please take care!
I liked seeing how you gradually developed love for Kanami after many reactions. For many instrumentalists it’s typical to see one got hooked on Misa and Akane after the first listen cuz they are just great. But for Kanami, it takes a bit time and when you realize how great she is, it will be exactly like your expression right there!!
imagine being in that crowd puzzle into anemone you could hear a pin drop. and such respect from the crowd not holding cell phones in the air videoing this. just being in that intimate moment.
Well... Trying to record a concert is also an expression of love. People want to save that amazing live show for posterity and re-watch it many times after.
Don't worry Ryan, i believe you when you say you've only listened to the intro of "Anemone", i really don't.😏 What i do care about is your love of the Maids & you bringing their awesome music to new listeners every day with your excellent channel.👍
I remember the day I made the horrible mistake listening to this song on a tram on my way to work and tears started to well up as kanami's solo kicked in...
The depth that this band has is staggering, wait till you hear MISA sing, not sure if I have ever heard Akane sing but certainly wouldn’t surprise me 😎 they continue to give you MORE in every department .
this is the song i would like all 5 to sing in an acoustic setting Miku and Saiki harmonizing lead vocals Kanami, Akane and MISA harmonizing back up vocals
Those who are members of the fan club have heard Akane sing (I mean "really "singing, not miming to Saiki ^^ ). Let's just say there's a reason she's usually miming ... Now, I'd really like to hear her plays her trombone, really!

This is the only song we play live , my duet partner and i. We even have a video of it on RUclips :) I love this song. the acoustic version of it just reaches my innards.
Saiki is a wonderful singer and really does justice to this lovely song but Kanami's ability as a composer and guitarist is beyond words. Not technically perfect they say - really? - but she plays with and from her heart. She can encompass emotion in her playing like no other I have heard. And coming from such a gentle, sweet soul it is pure perfection.

Caught up with this late, but thanks for continuing with BAnd Maid. I agree, Kanami is a genius, and we would never have known if not for the magic connection she has with Miku and the rest. She is also the most humble and modest superstar you will ever meet.
Gotta add here that while Miku and Saiki have such similar voices which make their harmonies some of the best. Kanami's voice is so soft and feminine I contrasts perfectly to Saiki's more powerful voice. It sends a chill through me every time I hear this version.
My favorite thrash metal music genre... But band maid changed everything although they r women...but their music feeling caught my heart... I dont know what happen may be i m maidiac now hahahhahah. I thaught we r same ryan.... Heheheh
Akane's drumming in the original version is brilliant. Her combinations at the right moment accentuate the sing so much! The acoustic version is beyond magical. If it doesn't give you goosebumps, then nothing ever will. Kanami's vocals are spot on. They support and highlight Saiki's vocals. They need to do more of these types of songs on future albums.
THESE GALS ARE JUST THE BEST.....THANKS RYAN YOU ECHO MY FEELINGS TO THE LETTER.....KANAMI IS A BRILLIANT GUITARIST.....AT 67 YEARS OLD I HAVE HEARD THEM ALL...FROM CLAPTON..RORY GALLAGHER....ETC.....KANAMI....A MASTER....
Anemone is a masterpiece. And a masterpiece that is rarely played live. Kanami's solos in this song screams so much of emotion. Not that technical but the soulfulness can felt dominantly and abundant.
The electric version is awesome...Kanami's neck pickup tone on the solo.......The acoustic version is just heart crushing....Saiki puts so much emotion into her delivery, and Kanami's backups are so sweet and pure....what can I say?
I used to rate "Anemone" as the best ballad of theirs. For now, it's only second to "About Us". The melodies and transitions of "Anemone" feel like watching the glittering stars until the sun rises. It's so atmospheric and emotional. As for the passionate solo ... is Kanami playing her love song to Saiki? ❤️❤️❤️ And Saiki's outro often brings me to tears … 😭
Ryan! They are getting better and better with love songs and ballads while keeping up with untold intricacy! This is a sure sign, if one hadn't known it yet ,that they are attaining musical adulthood. It is becoming more and more sweetly difficult to imagine what hey will come up with next! Interestingly enough, the pandemic might well have contributed a lot to their progress with more time to work and compose and practice in spite of their unreserved love for live audiences. I absolutely concur with you, Kanami is a phenomenon already surpassing the likes of late Stevie Ray Vaughan who came many a time to Japan, Carlos Santana and even more. Wait until Misa tempts her into some Jimi hendrix's riffs! A heroine, she certainly is, and she will need all our humble support to help up her along soaring even higher in the company o her crew! No need to say I love your comments! LOL Best regards, kampai and all that! Robert-Gilles
My Friend i have seen SRV and Jimmy page live And I absolutely Agree with you 100% This young Savant is the best all around I have seen Digitally of course but hopefully that will change! She is very special!
A-Maid-sing, ahhhh really!!! It is so perfect how they fit together as a band and individually. As we know there are so few groups that members get along and even less that enjoy each other’s company. That translates big time when performing live - by the way - the world is waiting to be Dominated by the ladies playing live.
My favorite is the line they sing at 16:10 together. Saiki sings it flatter and Kanami sings it with more emotion. Translation is: "Soaked with your kind lies, my heart Would soon destroy everything"
This was my first time hearing the acoustic version, and I'm not afraid to say , I think someone was cutting onions in my vicinity. Been a VERY long time since I have been so moved by a song. And Ryan, as always, you so eloquently said what I was feeling.......Thank You... And always....Thank You to the Ladies...
Great comments Ryan. I totally agree. Kanami is a guitar rock hero (for me Jimi Hendrix is a god and Kanami is a goddess). Daydreaming and Anemone are the most beautiful BM ballads I have ever heard. I am unable to choose between the two versions of Anemone. Emotionally they are both magnificent. If I really had to choose, it would be the acoustics because of Saiki's sublime and moving voice accompanied only by Mincho's delicate guitar playing (and voice). I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Beautiful
I love this song so much. The music is amazing, the lyrics are heart wrenching. I have a very painful brain tumor and I start every morning with a couple of hours of Band Maid and a lot of it is my favorite reactors like you. Their musical energy is so energizing and pain relieving. I just love these girls so damn much and I love your reactions
Tom, thank you, and I am sorry for your condition but I'm glad I can help, even if it's only because BAND-MAID gave us both something brilliant to listen to. I know if I don't get to listen to them during the day.... I'm not as good as I could be. Wishing you well, Mear
Ryan, I discovered these amazing musical wizards just a few months ago, and I agree with you, they put more music in one song than most other artists have in three. And don't feel bad about the tears, they do that to me too. I hope they handle success well, I don't ever want to lose them.
The Zepp Tokyo Performance from the World Domination Tour in 2018. The concert's runtime is just over 2 hours and The acoustic versions of Puzzle and Anemone are tracks 12 and 13. It is an incredible concert. I can't imagine how amazing it would have been to be there. This concert also has the versions of Onset and Real Existence that we all love. And a version of Play that is a lot of people's favorites (although I prefer the LINE Cube version).
Some live performances of Play have an intro. The one people are familiar with is from Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017. When this song was on RUclips, it gathered finally more than a million views, before it was blocked. Line Cube Shibuya has the same intro, as well as all other live versions until recently. Sometimes they would skip it, though, and start with the main part of the song. The same intro they have used during the European tour in 2019, by the way. Just check the Hamburg recording: ruclips.net/video/6rdkUL9--HA/видео.html They have changed the intro only on The Day of Maid OKYUJI. And it's pretty interesting, I should say.
Sat here for 20 minutes after watching and listening to this, staggered, and all that that's running though my mind is: "I'm lucky to be alive." Thank You Ryan.
Great reaction. Every time I see this acoustic version it blows me away as well as the studio version, Kanami is a rock goddess, I think her guitar style is all her own but you could say she's a cross of Santana (which she's said is a heavy influence on her), Eddie Van Halen and The Edge.
I don't know if Mincho is the most skilled guitarist, that matters very little to me, what really matters to me is the emotion that she is capable of transmitting when she plays. That is not learned, that is true talent. The same can be said about Saiki singing... "Anemone" is an awesome song, and man... it comes rigth after "Daydreaming" in the album... Too much for the faint of heart 😄
I absolutely love the electric version of this song because of Kanami's lead & solos. Like you said, "SRV as hell!" I always got a Ritchie Sambora vibe from it too. I guess it makes sense since they both employed the Strat single coil neck tone in alot of their music. I wonder what Kanami recorded it on... 🤔 She said she used a PRS Silver Sky on a couple of solos on Unseen World, but I don't know if she had one at the time of World Domination.
Finally. One of my favourite song from them. This ballad is too good just like daydreaming. I really really hope they put 1 or 2 ballad songs in their next album :)
Band-Maid is a group of world class talents but Kanami Sensei is the musical genius in the room, a tiny rock and roll Mozart that is just hitting her stride. Lucky us. Thanks for sharing your ride down the pigeon hole Ryan it makes me feel slightly less nuts at how much I like this band.

The electric version is awesome...Kanami's neck pickup tone on the solo.......The acoustic version is just heart crushing....Saiki puts so much emotion into her delivery, and Kanami's backups are so sweet and pure....what can I say?
Watching princess tono and SiKi there's a modern art masterpiece
The acoustic version is one of those that reaches right into your soul.
I agree with you 100% she is legitimately the best over all guitarist in the world
I think they are the best band going. The acoustic Xmas 2021 show, will make you speechless.
this song is a perfect moment of ZEN...
And Saiki's outro often brings me to tears … 😭
i love your reaction.
please next one is AWKWARD from BAND MAID!!
The live version if possible. It's amazing.
LOL
Best regards, kampai and all that!
Robert-Gilles
Thanks, Robert!
Translation is: "Soaked with your kind lies, my heart
Would soon destroy everything"
This was my first time hearing the acoustic version, and I'm not afraid to say , I think someone was cutting onions in my vicinity. Been a VERY long time since I have been so moved by a song. And Ryan, as always, you so eloquently said what I was feeling.......Thank You... And always....Thank You to the Ladies...
Thank you. This is beatiful
Beautiful
This song is one of my favorites in all versions original, acoustic and Band-maiko (ansan)
Batman Beyond shirt! Points for you man! Double points with Band-Maid.
Watch that concert all the time - truly great - even seeing how the crowd reacts.
Just check the Hamburg recording:
ruclips.net/video/6rdkUL9--HA/видео.html
They have changed the intro only on The Day of Maid OKYUJI. And it's pretty interesting, I should say.
Love this song and love the acoustic version with just Kanamincho and Saki even more. Thank you for listening to this song.
anyone who appreciates Band Maid gets my Attention! Subscribed!
It's going to be amazing when we have the opportunity to experience them live at a concert. I might die, but it'll be worth it.
Saiki doesn't just sing she makes you feel.
SiKi has won me over as a life long fan and admirer of her beautiful vocals.
Sat here for 20 minutes after watching and listening to this, staggered, and all that that's running though my mind is: "I'm lucky to be alive."
Thank You Ryan.
Great reaction. Every time I see this acoustic version it blows me away as well as the studio version, Kanami is a rock goddess, I think her guitar style is all her own but you could say she's a cross of Santana (which she's said is a heavy influence on her), Eddie Van Halen and The Edge.
The Kanami solo reminds me more of November Rain. Beautiful
Kanami and Band-Maid have given me more than any other band. Kanami is awesome, Ryan is awesome, both have sincerity and talent on their side.
There used to be a mv to this song.
The emotion and expression Saiki puts in the acoustic version blows me away every time I watch and hear it...
When I listening this song I always wanna cry. Kanami, her guitar solo sounds is so emotional all the time. Thank you for react this song.
PRS's had a coil-tap.....
@@RyanMear true, probably what she used.
I believe it was late 2016 when she got her first PRS, same year that Miku went for Zemaitis.
World Domination was released early 2018, so Yes.
Saiki sounds so good here
Now we all want an acoustic album from them... What a wonderful performance
Saiki is a great GREAT singer. Kanami...excellent guitarist. The whole band is excellent. Phenomenal talent. Thanks Ryan for this react video.
Finally. One of my favourite song from them. This ballad is too good just like daydreaming.
I really really hope they put 1 or 2 ballad songs in their next album :)
Band-Maid is a group of world class talents but Kanami Sensei is the musical genius in the room,
a tiny rock and roll Mozart that is just hitting her stride. Lucky us.
Thanks for sharing your ride down the pigeon hole Ryan it makes me feel slightly less nuts at how much I like this band.
Great video great music song. 👍
