ASICS GEL-NYC 2055 vs GEL-NYC

In this video I'm reviewing the latest model from ASICS and that is the GEL-NYC 2055. But I'm also comparing it to the very similar GEL-NYC model.

I've never been able to find a colorway of the Gel NYC that combines the colors and materials into something I'd buy. I like the open mesh more than the closed mesh, but most of the good NYC colorways use the closed mesh. I really like the initial 2055 colorways and material combinations. The pair in the video are really nice.

To your point, it's probably the same strategy as New Balance 2002r and 1906r. Same cushioning, different look, different feel. Yet you still cooped afew 1906rs. 🙂

IMO those models have more differences between each other on the upper of the shoes that provide different features/functionality and looks than these two.

agree on “why did they make this!?” - I’m guessing Asics wants keep momentum of launching new products each year, could also get them more shelf space at retailers (but as someone who owns gel nyc as a consumer I don’t neeed this)

Prefer the OG. I wished they would have kept the same toe box. The toe box on the 2055 looks too busy and makes it look more pointy than it is. Side profile looks the best.

I own the 1130 , 2160 , Kayano 14 .. I find the gel nyc is bulkier out of the bunch. My question is are the 2055 less bulky or the Same one n size

Toe box is little more narrow on the 2055. Might give an illusion that is less bulkier.

To be honest, IMO, the 530 looks better on women than on men. Same with the 725.

To me they feel so identical it’s hard to say but the toe box does look wider on the GEL-NYC.
