Is no one going to ask why the switch for the gate is outside?! When you install a door do you place the key side facing inwards? Great trailer with plenty of feelings but another one is the man with the grenades detonating himself quite close to the reinforcement, the last one is a quibble because 3 grenades might not reach the rangers with a human and 2 mutants in the way.
@@The6Master6Mind6 dont think I've seen it in the video but in the game they have switches on both sides and usually the outside one is kept depowered unless in emergency cases or there's stalkers/explorers coming in
I feel like strength of this trailer comes from the two different meaning the look of sadness on the guy closing the door's face has. First "I'm sorry" then at the end "I've done all I can"
After almost 4 years i finally realised why this trailer is named "Mobius" ... We all know that the "jerk" at the beginning turned out to be the hero. We, as the viewers are making also this transition in our thinking seeing this. It is an analogy to the "Mobius Strip": When you start on any point on the strip and go all the way around until you reach the start point again you are on the opposite site. Like in the trailer: "Man this guy at the start is a dickhead, he condemns the child and everyone else to die ... oh ... he sacrifices himself to save all of them from more monsters..." the feels man, the feels. Awesome!
Oh... I thought this video was named movious because it went back to the first person we met, but never thought that the movious strip actually sends you to the opposite side of where you began...
I kinda understand why he would "condemn" everyone, even if it wasn’t for a sacrifice. That station was clearly overran, it would have only been a matter of time before it would have been wiped and if he just let them continue. They would have probably gone to take more stations in the process.

You see a man locking the gates as the kid is crying out for him, you think of him as the worst of people you ever imagined. But then you see what’s happening inside, a blind man being attacked by a creature, a man holding a beast by the tail to save a baby, a mother protecting her children at impossible odds and a man who decided to end his life, almost smiling, happy to finally die and leave this awful world, you don’t even blame the man for wanting to flee. Then you see more people dying and people fighting back, until it reaches to the point where you come back to the man, who can no longer fight, but can save everyone. And he does.

One of the journals that you pick up in the game says "I wonder if these monsters have always been around hiding in bowels of the earth and the only reason they come out now is because the human population has dwindled." (or something like that) Makes you think. Very cool, such mystery. Love it! Hope they come out with a 3rd metro.
i consider this to be the greatest game trailer in gaming history... period; no other trailer has ever, EVER, woke up the same level of emotions as this trailer.
This has to be, one of the best cinematic game trailers in history. Every frame tells a tale without using a single word and the music is simple but it fits so god damm well with the atmosfere of the trailer. I have no words to describe how good this trailer is.
This, this is a work of art. It captures so many emotions in three minutes that most films nowadays fail to in three hours. It is without a hint of sarcasm that I say I am proud to have given the ten thousandth like on this video.
This is peak grimdark. Not hopeless. Nor super optimistic. The point of grimdark is to make the heroism shine brighter. And this trailer does that wonderfully.
The details small or big are beautiful in this trailer. To a man closing a door on a kid with doom coming right for the kid to a man desperatly trying to protect the baby in the crib to a woman with 2 kids holding a torch waiting for death panned towards a man who lost his everything ready to end it all going towards the hero on top of a great beast trying to shoot it through its head while his friend is being squeezed then we see a tough soldier who pulled a pin on one of his grenades smiling in deaths face to the little details in the reinforcements where you can see the soldier near the gate aim over the kids giving you the thought that he spotted the kid and is gonna stop the monster that is about to pounce him. And then back to the man who left his kid what we first thought for death, was left for life while he sarcificed himself. Metro always brings out alot of emotion its really something else
That is just how the human brain works, what I find sad is that no one else just assumed the child could not be saved at it was a hard choice to make for the greater good, everyone seemed to go automatically with the ''what a dick!'' narative.. Does say a bit about the general expectations of people :(
As a guy who has played both the Fallout and Metro series, I got to say that Metro has the storyline hands down. While there was no EXP system, no perks, and no special cool nuke launcher. The narrative of a story about a young man given the choices to take back the old world or begin in a new one was interesting. While Fallout was about how "War... war never changes..." Metro was about how "The old laws no longer apply..." Also, in my own opinion. The Rangers were a lot more cooler and were less dicks compared to the Brotherhood of Steel. I don't care if they have Liberty Prime or Power armor, the fact that the Rangers actually try to be the knights of the apocalypse at a station's darkest hour is quite romantic. Plus, Fallout doesn't have that one thing that ALL Metro players passionately DESPISE... biomass.
Boris of the Cheeki Breeki I feel like the main biomass was fine as a “boss” of sorts in the game that didn’t have any. The exploding amoebas, on the other hand, were absolutely fucking stupid and didn’t fit the game at all.
The Brotherhood was never supposed to be the good guys. Besides I think it is pointless to compare them. Fallout is about (at least when Bethesda isn't in charge) how humanity acts after being bombed back into the stone age. Metro is more just that cold Russian pessimism.
@@wrengaming1519 That was Bethesda's revised BoS, and not one I really... Consider canon. I have a hard time accepting Bethesda's games because after about 200 years all the people in their games are still in tribes despite knowing how to manufacture guns, repair and use computers, and have science and research happening. At least FO4 does give a reason for why there hasn't been a united community/nation in the commonwealth. It is a stupid one, and one that sorta clashes with Shaun's 'We're not evil' attitude about the institute. But lets be honest, Bethesda doesn't seem to want to create compelling stories anymore.
The story of fallout clearly says that the brotherhood were not "the good guys" the whole point of fallout is that no faction is perfect and that you need to choose which one you think is the least bad
1:50 this scene effected me the most you can see a smashed birthday cake and a child lying dead on the ground. The man who is his father decided his life doesn't have a meaning anymore and ended of his life after seeing death of his child on his birthday. What a scene, definetely a masterpiece

Since the release of this trailer, I always come to watch time to time. It has been 8 years now and still the greatest game trailer of all time. So special ❤️
I love how sight plays such a big role on this trailer, the sight of the viewer and the people in it. The soldier closing the door can't see the mutant approaching the child 0:27 thinking hes saving him and the soldiers cant see were the mutant is going to shoot it. 1:59 these soldier can't see the stray bullets hitting one of them because the light is blinding them. 2:26 These guy only see's the huge monster in front of him and not the entire clown car of soldier he's gonna take down with him when the grenades explode. Even this here 0:52 shows the importance of sight and of corse the ending. A very beautiful trailer
Actually, it's possible that the child would be saved since we see the Rangers pouring out of the train car right next to the door so they should be able to kill the mutant before it reaches the kid.
I never saw this trailer up to now. Monakh did an unbelievable job with this, the emotion, and the scale was done perfectly. And the progression in that it takes you back to the first scene with a different perspective and changes everything. Amazing work, and amazing game too.
Note to self: 1-Work out more. 2-Purchase an M60 3-Purchase an ammo press. 4-Press tons of ammo for that M60, in case of apocalypse. 5-Alternatively, learn how to make flamethrowers.
+John “DaBatKing” Kirsch If I'm going into the Apocalypse, I'm taking the gun that literally shot so fast that it's designers were scared into crimping it's balls; MG-42 First Generation. If the Nazis did anything right it was building that gun.
Goosebumps video. Starts with seeing a coward, ends with seeing a hero, the same person. After watching a few times I think the survivors are saved. Reinforcements are rushing in in huge numbers, the big ass mutant is pretty much killed, the situation is going to be contained. Eventually. The station is gone obviously, total evacuation is going to be in place. I love the Metro universe, amazing! Huge respect for this trailer. I am still having shivers after many replays and rereads.
sad and epic and amazing... I feel so sorry for the guy locking him self out of the metro to try to help say the metro. I also feel sorry for the dad fighting a monster and with his last dieing breath he grabs the tail of a nearby beast to try to save his new born child. how tragic..
Larry Kingsworth That's not really the correct things to say here. If you've read the books there is actually a story Hunter tells about two frogs. In a nutshell they are both stuck, one of them is rational and realises that there is no hope of survival so he just accepts death, while the other one fights no matter what and escapes the cream that just turned out to be butter. The guy closing the gate is doing the same. He is holding onto some small hope of the others retaking the station, instead of just not caring.
Beautiful. A selfish, guilty soldier is seen locking a set of doors to save himself. A child, about to be mauled is reaching for the closing gap in the gate out of desperation. The scene then pans to desperate defenders holding back the mutants, several already having fallen. The wounded are left to fend for themselves as the field hospital is overrun. You then see people fighting back any way they can, boiling water, butcher knives, open fires. A man, pinned down by one mutant, yet still holds on the tail of another to keep it away from a baby. A mother armed with only a burning torch, standing as the last defense for her kids before a swarm of mutants. Stations guards lay down fire into oncoming hordes in a desperate fight with pistols, AK's, Gatlings, and flamethrowers. A man, destroyed by his Childs death on their birthday commits suicide. More guards, can be seen being mauled and dragged down by mutants, but still fighting. Two groups of soldiers fight back to back, one firing into oncoming hordes of mutants, the other firing on a Rhino brood mother. Soldiers clamber on the brood mother to try and take it down, many having already been ended by it. Another man is being swarmed, but smiles as he pulls the pins on his grenades, knowing he'll bring the mutants down with him. Behind him, Spartan Rangers rush into the overrun station to aide its defense. The scene is brought back to the desperate child reaching for the door, but not out of desperation, but out of grief. As the scene returns through the gap in the closing door, empty guns and spent bullet casings litter the ground. The soldier, holds a smoking bastard rifle with an empty magazine. That look of sorrow revealed to be grim determination as he locks himself, and countless oncoming mutants outside of the station, sacrificing himself to save the rest.
It's astounding how so much emotion and storytelling is conveyed with such little. I don't think I've watched anything that gets more heart-wrenching than this. The perfect combination of the terrifying horrors of the metro, but there is also so much raw beauty that shines through. I must have been no older than 8 years old when I first watched this. It probably popped up randomly on my youtube feed. I guess it took a special place in my heart, after all I still remembered it to this day and found it again after almost a decade. Truly remarkable work. I still can't get over the final scene. Absolutely stomach twisting watching him seeing his son in his last moments. Just an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness even though these people aren't real and this never happened. The guitar solo is the cherry on top. I don't think I can listen to the guitar the same ever again.
I have a feeling this is that mission in metro 2033 where the ghosts are blocking the entrance. in that mission you see a bunch of dead soldiers and mutants.
Five years ago and still one of the best game trailers I've ever seen bar none. The trailer started out drowning us in despair only to move onto defiance, sacrifice, and a glimmer of hope before coming back to the man we started with, introduced as a coward only to end with him shown as the biggest damn hero of them all. This is the world of Metro.
I like how at first you think they are all doomed anyway. But at 2:29 you see tons of reinforsments arrive from the other station. Which gives them a chance and the door closing becomes so much more important.
Gun caps? Empty... Guns? Exhaling a smoking weigh... The fist? Firm, holding the condemnation of the own soldier... The mind? Serene, accepting his fate...
I like how they make the guy from the beginning look like an inhuman monster for closing the door on the kid who is about to get mauled by a monster and then at the end of the trailer you see the same guy with about a billion monsters behind him and he is closing the door to save everyone in the station... Ta totalement raison merci au toi du passé avec qui j'ai grandi
11 years later and still hits hard.. One of THE BEST universum ever..
What gets me most, is that the creatures can be seen at the very beginning, but everyone including myself remained fixed on the focal subject.
That is just how the human brain works, what I find sad is that no one else just assumed the child could not be saved at it was a hard choice to make for the greater good, everyone seemed to go automatically with the ''what a dick!'' narative.. Does say a bit about the general expectations of people :(
Fauerholm almost 1 year late, but child is saved by heavy infantry reinforcements jumping out of the train in the end. It wasn't a sacrifice
The best trailer ever!
As a guy who has played both the Fallout and Metro series, I got to say that Metro has the storyline hands down. While there was no EXP system, no perks, and no special cool nuke launcher. The narrative of a story about a young man given the choices to take back the old world or begin in a new one was interesting.
While Fallout was about how "War... war never changes..."
Metro was about how "The old laws no longer apply..."
Also, in my own opinion.
I think new Vegas has the only story that rivals metro
This freaking trailer... it gives me the shivers every single damn time
1:50 this scene effected me the most you can see a smashed birthday cake and a child lying dead on the ground. The man who is his father decided his life doesn't have a meaning anymore and ended of his life after seeing death of his child on his birthday. What a scene, definetely a masterpiece
I didn't know drastic camera angles in a still picture could tell such a good story
Прям гордость за то, что эта игра была сделана на постсоветском пространстве.
100 из 10
Каком к черту постсоветском? 2034 год - начало игры. Даже бомбы были сброшены в 2013..
Gold StormСама игра была сделана!!! не сюжет.
TheYarik87 Где ты в ней что-то "советское" увидел? Приведи примеры хотя бы, постановка миллиона восклицалельных знаков не делает тебя умнее.
Gold Storm Восклицательных*
Gold StormТы врубиться никак не можешь. Компания, изготовившая данную игру находиться на Украине- государстве, состоявшем в составе СССР. Так понятнее?
Lie Down....Try Not To Cry.....Cry A Lot :'(
Man, this is art!
Six years later, and this is still one of the best trailers for a game imho. So simple, yet so deep.
Since the release of this trailer, I always come to watch time to time. It has been 8 years now and still the greatest game trailer of all time. So special ❤️
It’s been 7 years, I haven’t seen any other game that has this awesome of a trailer, except of course the newer Metro game, Metro Exodus.
I get chills every time I watch this. Truly an excellent video.
I never saw this trailer up to now. Monakh did an unbelievable job with this, the emotion, and the scale was done perfectly. And the progression in that it takes you back to the first scene with a different perspective and changes everything. Amazing work, and amazing game too.
This trailer is so fricking deep.
that gave me goose pumps love how it tease hes being a wimp when really hes being brave
This trailer gave me shivers
This was so beautiful , the music , the cinematography , the angles , I could watch this all day and not get bored.
the guy closing the gate is a damn hero
Returned to rewatch the masterpiece. Still hits like truck as always.
I just read the title as "Morbius" and got fucking whiplash
I love the part where the Rangers come in and morbe all over the place.
Seeing this again after so many years, and it still holds up.
Absolutely incredible trailer. A fine fit for the series.
shivers everytime I watch this,,, I still watch this ...
This is why I love Metro series...
I just repeated this more than 10 times lol
Note to self:
1-Work out more.
2-Purchase an M60
3-Purchase an ammo press.
4-Press tons of ammo for that M60, in case of apocalypse.
5-Alternatively, learn how to make flamethrowers.
An M60 like the machine gun M60?!
I'll put it in the basement, behind a glass that says "IN CASE OF APOCALYPSE, BREAK GLASS"
jonasgrant Nice. An M249 SAW could work as well.
+John “DaBatKing” Kirsch Пошел к вам ! Используйте PP SH 41 ! ЧИСТАЯ РОССИИ изобретательности !
+John “DaBatKing” Kirsch If I'm going into the Apocalypse, I'm taking the gun that literally shot so fast that it's designers were scared into crimping it's balls; MG-42 First Generation. If the Nazis did anything right it was building that gun.
This trailer is perfect it shows so many different story with just one frame.
The director, made sure we'd see all the guns and empty shells by the ranger's feet.
Fabulous. After all these years, still great. My favourite Metro trailer. Congratulations to Alexander Bereznyak.
You can see a birthday cake at 1:49
It had 6 candles :(
i thought: near the cake is lieing a number: "7"
He was actually a 23 year old midget only candles are hard to come by.
@@TaquitoBomb There is a kid's hand.
@@londomollari1082 it was a joke. Black comedy for sure.
@@sharilshahed6106 Ah, ok, sorry. I'm no native English speaker and didn't know the word 'midget'.
sad and epic and amazing...
I feel so sorry for the guy locking him self out of the metro to try to help say the metro.
I also feel sorry for the dad fighting a monster and with his last dieing breath he grabs the tail of a nearby beast to try to save his new born child.
how tragic..
It's futile, though, he's only blocking out the watchmen. Nosalises are coming into the station from the back and through holes in the wall.
something worth fighting for is worth dieing for even if its futile its better that he even tried instead of not caring ;-;
He should have tried to get a better understanding of things before making his judgment.
He is holding onto some small hope of the others retaking the station, instead of just not caring.
yup better to fight then to surrender
Artyom really was a legend...I've read metro 2033 and 2034 ....and still reading metro 2035....he is my Inspiration....he is just freakin awesome...
I don't think I can listen to the guitar the same ever again.
probably the best trailer for any game i have ever seen
Amazing!!! It's truly breathtaking!
I have a feeling this is that mission in metro 2033 where the ghosts are blocking the entrance.
in that mission you see a bunch of dead soldiers and mutants.
you mean the attack of cursed station? hmmmm kinda seems like it. good observation.
Yeah I think it was cursed station. That's what I thought while watching this
Justin Streb
although cursed is a bit different, the layout i mean. heck i don't know. some part of me thinks it is khans station.
bostonianful but zero mention of khan
Justin Streb it can't be the cursed station. In the vid the Spartans are fighting, the cursed station had more of a militia group
Лучший трейлер,из всех,что я видел...потрясающе...очень атмосферно,берёт прямо за душу
This is the best trailer i have EVER seen! Completely amazed!! :-O
this trailer gives me the goosebumps every time
by far the best trailer i've ever seen
been playing this since day 1, and i've just found this trailer. makes me want to think for a moment, contemplating my life. so touching
One of the most depressingly awesome videos I have ever seen
Five years ago and still one of the best game trailers I've ever seen bar none. The trailer started out drowning us in despair only to move onto defiance, sacrifice, and a glimmer of hope before coming back to the man we started with, introduced as a coward only to end with him shown as the biggest damn hero of them all. This is the world of Metro.
Thats just badass.
I JUST saw you on a Payday 2 trailer that was similar.
I absolutely love this game and its trailer, straigh chills every time I watch it.
1:49
His eyes... full of despair
Awesome video!
Feels so good shooting things up in this game.
I like how at first you think they are all doomed anyway. But at 2:29 you see tons of reinforsments arrive from the other station.
Which gives them a chance and the door closing becomes so much more important.
7 years later and this is still the best trailer I've ever seen
1:49 anyone noticed the birthday cake...
Damn. He just died I. His birthday. Fuck I'm crying again
That is extremely cool the way you made it look like one continuous picture. Very clever editing.
Gun caps? Empty...
Guns? Exhaling a smoking weigh...
The fist? Firm, holding the condemnation of the own soldier...
The mind? Serene, accepting his fate...
Oh my god... this trailer is just fucking amazing!
This atmosphere...
One of the game trailer that really hits me in the feels
this is (in my opinion) the best cinematic trailer ever
That is an amazing trailer, really well-done!
One of the best story and gameplay in the history of games......
Man at 1:30 is the real guy! So sad..
One of the best trailers I ever saw!
jesus christ this is most well-made trailer i ever seen
I love how with such a simple trailer aspects such as the beauty and bravery of the Spartans are represented in an incredible way.
That ending.
