  • Hanauma Bay snorkeling tips. See the best place to snorkel in Oahu Hawaii. Hanauma Bay State Park is a great place to take kids snorkeling in O'ahu and it is not too far from Waikiki Beach. Hanauma Bay was formed by an ancient volcano, so it is very unique. The beach, which is one of the best beaches in Hawaii and the world, is also protected from the large surf around Hawaii. The water is clear for snorkeling.
    We saw these great fish and sea animals on our dive in Hawaii
    Bird Wrasse Fish
    Spotted Boxfish
    Unicorn Fish
    Convict Tangs and other tang fish
    Reef Triggerfish
    Spectacled Parrotfish and many other types of Parrotfish
    Milkfish or Ladyfish
    and cometfish.
    There were also crabs, sea turtles, sea slugs, sea urchins and much more sea life to explore at the Bay.
    We also have many tips for visiting. There are parking tips at Hanauma Bay, snorkel gear rental tips and how to help protect the sea animals and marine ecosystem in Hanauma Bay.
    If you are looking for the best spot to see fish and sea turtles in Hawaii? Watch on new video on snorkeling at Hanauma Bay in O'ahu in 2018.

    You are so talented! Wow what an amazing video and cinematography! Love how you explained the reef and keyholes plus all the tips when visiting I plan on going there one day and will be watching this again before going. I love creators like you who make youtube as amazing as it is! I left this video feeling inspired and like I learned something new! All while being entertained by the great narration and beautiful wildlife! ****Side note what kind of camera did you use to film these underwater shots?

    • @Sciencewithkids
      @Sciencewithkids  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement! For the underwater shots, we used an Intova Edge X. It’s a 1080p @60 FPS camera safe to a depth of 60m. It’s designed specifically for underwater video.

      Some constructive criticism, your voice is really bland, how about spicing it up?

    It's so beautiful there. My husband's cousin's military family just moved back to the "main land" from Hawaii. They're in the cold of South Carolina now and want to go back to HI. lol

    Omg.... so beautiful... it would likely be protected from sharks too because of that coral, no? Amazing... is this place close to Disney’s Aulani Resort?

    • @Sciencewithkids
      @Sciencewithkids  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, Hanauma Bay inside the main coral area is protected from large sharks. I saw some photos of a small shark in the coral area, but nothing to get worried about. Beyond the main coral area sharks have certainly been seen. Disney’s Aulani is near the East side of O’ahu. Hanauma Bay is on the west side. It is about an 1:15 Drive. Longer when there is traffic, which is most of the time. You might make it in a hour early in the morning. We visited the Disney Aulani Resort on this trip and I spoke to some people who were coming out of the lagoon in front of the resort after snorkeling. They said there were no fish at all. There are some good dive spots near there and on the Western and North shore which are not too far from Disney. There are also boat trips to take you out near Disney.

    • @Sciencewithkids
      @Sciencewithkids  5 лет назад

      I would have loved to see when the Hanauma Bay reef was alive. The sea life there was still very amazing and so worth the visit. I have snorkeled at one of the last remaining coral reefs off of Marathon Key in Florida. The reef was alive and wonderful to see. The sea life at Hanauma Bay was a little better, although we did see a shark, lots of Parrot fish and tons of jellyfish in the Marathon dive. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.
