This is what happens when genius meets genius! Neil is great once again, as he is on a Black session in Life on Mars. Or as he is anywhere everywhere...
Was he offending bowie by saying oh dear not again etc when he sung bowie cover ashes to ashes I wonder maybe not i like Neil hannon but I feel he got alot inspiration from bowie even sounds, like him
@@theyouofyesterday6254It was. I was there. And you're right. He was joking because every performer at the festival was obliged to play a Bowie cover. It's the only song I remember from the concert, it was so good.
Ok, der Gesang ist (zumindest in den höheren Lagen) nicht voll überzeugend. Aber dennoch ist es eine sehr schöne Version, insbesondere wegen der Geige.
I need an official studio version of this immediately.
thanks for uploading! Always enjoy his covers. This one could well be the best! Wish I'd been there

Bowies, clone kind of genius
a very obscure one indeed!

live only, it seems
A Bolan cover ?
Why not ?

... He just plays this cover a lot
Think this was recorded at Bowie's Meltdown Festival (possibly 2002?) so it was a bit of an 'obligatory' cover! :-)

Was this recorded in a tin can? In a small compact submarine? Who recorded this? It sounds like an interesting cover but it's impossible to tell...
I was at this performance. Royal Festival Hall, London. It was part of the 2002 Meltdown festival, curated by Bowie.
