This is so heart wrenching and hopeful at the same time. I'm 16 days clean after a horrendous year long relapse with heroin and I can identify with some of her story. But the feelings we all have are basically the same. And we hit our head against that wall over and over again. Some of us make it. Some of us don't . All we have is today. I don't know why I'm writing this. I guess it's because in this moment I am grateful to be sober today. Thank you Erica. I wish you the best.

Alcohol is the start of all failures. Please I beg y’all , stay away from that evil stuff. If you’ve never taken drugs before, you can avoid it for the rest of your life by staying away from alcohol. Alcohol leads to drugs, gambling, homelessness and premature death. You don’t need it in your life to function. Exercise will give you the rewards your brain needs not booze and drugs. You are all in my prayers.

Hey Is right! Been there and even after being on methadone I continued with the alcohol. I actually started having seizures and lost my license. Just because it's legal; doesn't mean it's ok for an addict!

My aunt didn’t get to wake up that one last time, wanting to live. I know that if she woke up then she would have.
I know that she didn’t want to go 4 days before her daughter’s birthday.

24:45 "My disease continues to get worse, even though I'm NOT using."
Sobriety doesn't "slow" the disease down, or "cure" you from it.
The degenerative nature of this disease isn't as well known as it needs to be.

Erica, I think you are a beautiful amazing women. I totally understand why you used drugs and alcohol to dull the trauma you were trying to process. I pray you are still OK today and you have a great relationship with your kids. Love You stranger 💖
