Universally applicable, you need to refer at any stage of your practice, in the best interests of the patient. Patient and Doctor are in an agreement and both parties understand the risk involved, 👌👌 Though their reaction may be aggressive, they know the risk and want to get out of the mess, more than you.
Such an insightful explanation, Sir! Couldn’t agree more--> we must have the psychology of a team! We give our best and then reveal to the patient as well. Very good learning video sir Thank you truly! 🙂
Great tips sir.I remember once I explained the complication on 1st post op day but was not sure about management of that complication at my facility( in my mind )still I asked the pt to come for a follow up and then decide to refer. The pt did not turn up for follow up and I was very disappointed with myself.- A beginner surgeon
Good advices sir. Greetings from Turkey. I would ask to you how we face or deal with complication ? How to deal with thoughts in our mind ? For me it really affects me. If i had complication with one of my patients, i lost my confidence to myself for couple of days. It affect my mood until the pt's condition get better..- A young surgeon
Do watch this another video i have posted. It is very natural to feel bad after a complication. It is a sign of a true empathetic doctor. If i am a patient I would be truly blessed to have an empathetic doctor like you to take care of my ailments. How to process your thoughts, my views on that are shared in this other video.
Great insights sir...a doubt from my side... We understand that the patient and us are a team...how do u make patients understand the same (eg. some special counselling, some special words u use etc) and he should not be thinking it to be doctor vs patient situation...? How do we confirm that he now believes us to be a team together and not against each other..??
Step 1: describe whats the situation at present Step 2: explain how you and your patient has common goal..that is 100% successful outcome. Which is going to give greatest joy to you as treating doctor and you are committed to do your best to achieve. So you as a doctor is also not happy, if patient is not happy.Afterall you are also human just like your patient, but with more knowledge and ability to treat disease. Step 3: discuss what you think is best way to go forward
Thank you so much sir 🙏
