What’s so messed up about the toxic positivity is that these people are so complacent with the flaws. Like?? Shouldn’t we all want to game to be the best it can without draining our bank accounts or without copious mods to fix professional developers’ mistakes?
THIS!! The minute you complain about a bug issue, the fact that they are releasing kits, packs when the game is broken, the fact that they dont care about us, you are immediatly a hater and you are attacked by ppl saying you shouldnt play or that you hate the game. What??? I paid i dont know how much money for a broken game and i cant talk or complain about it ?? How tf you are defending EA smh ppl really be taking EA side and its ridiculous
For the sims specifically, A LOT of TS players legit don't play other games. They don't even know how badly EA is exploiting them because they have no experience with any other publisher. On top of the fact that like 90% of TS players are extremely casual gamers, when people start talking about how EA is just robbing them, they get weirdly defensive.
@@invu232 tbh i dont play that many other games except some rpgs but the reason why i know EA is exploiting sims 4 players is bc I played the old titles. I know how good wr had it you know. I feel like the players that defend EA started playing sims with sims 4 idk its my personnal opinion. Not all of them ofc but its just not logic to defenf EA actions if you played the previous titles. You either a sellout or just a sheep
We're simply just not allowed to wish for the best in our games. Despite our love for the franchise, it seems these surface level thinkers deem us as "haters" when we want the best out of our games, and refuse to accept poor quality assurance as "the norm".
Some things to remember: when people complained about no dog houses in the cats and dogs pack. The director (I believe) said they didn't add dog houses cause pets should be inside and cozy in the couch. Something like that. While there is no dog houses. There is no water bowl either. They can only drink water from puddles. They often give excuses for the lack of resources or effort.
I remember getting a mod for the water bowls. It seemed like such a basic feature that got left out. Dog houses you could sort of make with the half walls.
@@sweethistorteaidk why I wrote lilsimsie. I meant LittleMsSam. 😂 Yea, like a majority of my mods folder is basic features or fixes. Modders basically keep this game going tbh.
Sadly some of those puddles are dog pee. Since I tend to have pet glitches either I watch them like a hawk to stop them or I don't play with them. Weird that the sims and dogs have a hidden thirst need. Why hidden?
No bc their standards are in HELL. I deleted Sims 4 a while ago and went back to the sims 3 w/ like 3 expansion packs and the game is so full of life and substance it’s actually insane…
I only play sims 3. Ive never played sims 2 but it looks fun especially the town creation function! 😊 It's nice enjoying good things while avoiding refuse
I ended up having to just “agree to disagree” with my sister the other day about the sims for just this. “Agree to disagree” because we’re in our thirties and I’m not going to actually fight about something like this but god did it piss me off. Her opinion is that this is just how the game industry is these days and we who complain are just being overly “idealistic”. Like… what the fuck? Idealistic for wanting a decent game?
Is exactly because of people like her that the industry got to where it is. They are abusive and lazy, and the consumers are "oh well... here take my money". But when others try to rise and demand change these people turn to us? They defend the freaking abusive and lazy system.
Same! I started pirating Sims games after I lost my EA account & I wasn’t able to recover the games my parents bought. So when Sims 3 came out I just started pirating. I was 14! Lmao.
I agree with everything you said! It’s not that I HATE this game, I don’t, I play it, but I don’t pretend that it’s perfect and when people criticize it I don’t start an argument about it. That’s what we are talking about.
It still baffles me how the developer of a 10 years old game franchise is deserving a comfort hug after getting criticism for their BUG-ROT game..... Make it make sense girl. TS4 community moves like a cult and I'm so glad I'm nowhere near them 💀 Thanks for always being one of the voices!!! You rock
I literally got attacked by LilSimsie fans the other day 💀 I’m like I literally watch all of her videos but she’s still a sellout. I remember her watching the 25th anniversary video and saying “yeah idk what they’re doing for that” but today she’s like oh yeah the sims were at my house ??? Like. They told you in a week that they were gonna come to your house?? 😭 right girly.
I used to like her until she became sellout to her impressionable young audience and became extremely hypocritical. I hardly trust anyone who is in EA Creator programs except for one person
Dude she is the worst. I remember when she had integrity. Now she is a millionaire and drunk on the attention and influence via proximity. Like the audacity of a millionaire to ask for you to use her code to make a commission. You are literally bought and paid for.. there is ZERO argument against this. I’m noticing other creators who have contracts to stream dreamlight valley. It’s disgusting. They don’t play what they want to play. They are just pushing products.
@@kelly-bo-belly that’s honestly so true 😭 like I try my hardest to believe she’s a good person bc she does all this fundraising for St Jude & stuff but you can donate to charity and still be a bad person.
Wait, you’re criticizing that she didn’t reveal something that she likely had an NDA for? At the most it was something meant to be a fun surprise for her audience-of course she’d pretend like she didn’t know. Criticism is okay, but this feels like a reach.
None of the packs work together, Live mode is TRASH and glitchy, the gallery is a hot mess full of 10 years' worth of unorganized content, and every expansion pack feels like it is still in beta mode. Then the kits are just micro transactions in disguise. I've played almost every sims game since the original The Sims game was released and EA has completely destroyed the franchise.
@@midgematic They're definitely on to something, but the pushup bug is a feature 😭 It's from the eco-lifestyle pack and happens in any neighborhood that has the fitness neighborhood action plan or w/e tf it's stupid name is. Unless there's even more pushups happening??
a betterhelp sponsorship right after that last vid?? Damn lilsimsie stans are VICIUOS 💀But seriously, we didn't get basements, toddlers, pools etc by being ✨positive✨We said add that shit NEOOWW or we're sticking to sims 2&3!
I firmly believe ppl like lilsimsie killed the sims franchise as we know it!! It allowed EA to getaway w mediocre work at best and that then encouraged EA to keep on giving us BS bc ppl like lilsimsie will eat it up and gaslight us
@jasminekt5204 it's honestly kinda irritating to see her sugarcoat how flawed The Sims 4 really is. She chooses to be in the EA creator network and, more recently, release her own kit. Even though she had had the choice not to. I can't defend her anymore istg 😭
lol that’s what I thought when people were commenting that they were excited about the new hobbies pack. Like how are you gonna be excited about something that can be free?
@@neen2660 i think their point is that EA is just regurgitating concepts from previous packs now - like a pack about businesses and hobbies is so similar to the theme of Get To Work, which also came with businesses, right?
And also a hobby pack when you already have so many other hobbies locked behind an absurd amount of other packs, like why have the idea in the first place. In the sims 2 it worked because there weren't many packs and they all were very distinct and unique, so while one could make the same argument even back then to me it feels extremely nitpicky in comparison to what this one is screaming at me right now. I think it's a bit too late, honestly (and even saying "a bit" is already very nice from my part).
as someone who had only played the sims 4, i tried the sims 2 this year and its so much more fun! in sims 4 you have to make your sims do fun things while sims 2 sims just decide what direction they want to go in
In TS4 I only have fun creating stories and commanding my sims as a director does to their actors in a movie. But that only lasts until the repetitive gameplay gets annoying and Im tired of doing everything. However, I managed to install ts2 again on my computer. I had the MOST fun and relaxing time of my sims player life in the last decade watching my sim do daily basics. Watching they cook, watching tv with them, watching them go around by themselves and doing stuff out of their own. I intent to play the sims 3 again soon, as well. Oh how I miss those pyramid dungeons and completing all those skill challenges ❤
About the pronoums feature on The Sims. I was excited about it. They made such a buzz about it. Turns out years later it still only available in english. I can't use it. The gender customization pannel doesn't allow full customization and it is VERY LIMITED. Not just these things but also the "cultural" infused packs. They barely put effort into the cultural aspects of it. Yet they make it clear while promoting the pack. They just want to earn points, they don't care about the people they are representing. If they really cared, they would've fixed that already or even better, made it right from the begining.
I understand, that changing the pronouns, could have taken longer for other languages. Czech has much more complicated gendering, where even the fricking verbs are gendered. However it's been like forever and if they actually TRIED. It would have been in the game already. They don't care.
@@D.P.Throat exactly, they don't care. I wanted to make my friend but without the pronouns the only way is to use the gender I want then change the body frame but guess what, if you do that your sim gets automatic melons lmao. So yeah. The gender panel is BS. It is limited and not the big feature they think it is. It changes the whole sim which is not ideal most of the time.
The one thing that made me laugh about the Veilguard situation is that they always recall every bit of the story as if you have memory loss. Really nails down the bad writing there.
A lot of people have been coddled and it shows. They’re unable to debate or even listen to another’s opinion without feeling “attacked”. They haven’t learned how to decentralize themselves. It’s quite sad. They just accept whatever scraps are given and they beg to lick the boot. We do deserve better quality and not have to depend on modders to fix the game. They basically are the other reason why the Sims 4 is still around.
To be fair, this applies to topics across social media. Politics, beauty, pop culture, etc. No one wants to listen to an opposing view, so many people believe they are right, and they will die on that hill, no matter what.
The toxic positivity is so weird. I get annoyed when ts4 fans say “the game is fun you just need to be creative.” There’s no difficulty, and the multitudes of different pack systems were not built with the others in mind so a lot of gameplay features clash and it comes across like nobody at ea asks themselves, “is this fun to play with? does this gameplay mix well with the previous packs? will this constant popup be annoying in gameplay?” Hot take i know, but you shouldn’t have to imagine to make the fun scenarios you like in a life sim. like before lovestruck came out, you just had to pretend your sims were actually affected by being cheated on or mod in cheating reactions yourself. In-game, it was like nothing happened. Why did it take them that long to add in something so obvious? And many people play this game FOR the drama, it has that reputation that would make you expect this level of depth from previous sims games. I’m not upset that ppl can still find enjoyment in ts4 for what it is, but pretending something like that is acceptable, especially when sims 2 exists and is proof you can make a life sim that feels impactful, is wild to me. But i think most of the ones who can’t accept criticism of the game have never experienced previous sims games. i can’t think of any other reason why they’d find ts4’s regression in content and quality acceptable otherwise.
I agree 100%. Something I've noticed over the years is that if a game has people telling you you need to user your imagination to play it (and it's not a text based game) then the gameplay is weak. At that point they've created a platform instead of a game. Tangentially related, if a developer adds a super hard difficulty mode to their game they are COMPLETELY out of ideas.
Remember when "binders" were added? Silly ol me thought it'd be a cool FUNCTIONAL ITEM that I could use for gameplay and make trans ocs and stuff...... then i watched a pixelade video and found out it was just a tank top...💀 AND EVERYONE WAS PRAISING IT LIKE WHAT- gurl this is not representation it's laziness WTF BRUHHH😭😭😭
🤦♀️ It's not like they lack the resources to do it. That's disappointing, but I'm unfortunately not surprised these days. So many companies claim to be inclusive but only do the least they can for clout. Smh.
It’s insane how anytime I comment on how EA takes advantage of their player base and they’re basically scamming I get absolutely shit on… like these people are the reason this company can keep getting away with this
Honestly, when people already praising EA for a new leak expansion (businesses and hobbies) which should be included as a feature in get to work or at least a pack refresh (remember those anyone?) it's already over
the amount of simmers ive seen actively shut down people who rag on EAs stupid business moves is bizarre, saying its 'toxic' or 'not important' why are we defending a garbage company so badly instead of wanting a better game 💀
If we are complaining it is just because we know the potential and want it to be better. Sims 4 players mostly don't know what sims game can be and it is hard to get used to older graphics, cas, build mode. I didn't see someone criticized sims 4 complaining about CAS, building or graphic style. Cause they are good we all know that, now show the same effort for the rest of the game.
I still don't understand why i need Mods for Basic shit that should be in the Base Game to begin with. - Pool Tables/Other Bar Activities that were removed from TS2, TS3 (Do they think that nobody Plays Pool anymore??) - Pull-up Bars and other Fitness related Equipment - Home Invasions and Robberies (Because of course, Burglars don't exist in real life Silly!) - Poker/Gambling (A Touchy one for some, But i personally like being allowed to have my Sim Bet and Gamble) - Cars and Transportation (The excuse of "It's not Open world" Doesn't apply when TS2 Had Cars, Stop defending EA's Laziness) The List could go on and on... Thank fuck for People like Anaidus who have their Updater, Never paying for DLC ever again.
What really puts me down about the state of The Sims is that this was my childhood game. I used to save up my lunch money so I could buy most if not all of the packs. Makin' Magic and Vacations being my favorite ones. The issue is that this game is not attainable for me anymore. I'm from Latin America and the cost of The Sims 4 is not something I could realistically shell out ever... It's a shame that they made this game completely unattainable for me and no. Having a free base game to obfuscate the absurd cost of having a 'complete' game is not enough. I'm always so thankful that you chose to speak out about all of these issues. Thank you so much you're a real one!
i vibe with this comment so much, used to play the sims with my sister after school. I have so many amazing memories associated with this franchise I completely agree it’s sad to see this franchise turn into another cash grab by EA 😢
As a long time Dragon Age lover, I personally believed Veilguard was going to be a flop when they changed the title from Dreadwolf. But its more than a flop- SPOILERS FOR THE TRUE ENDING OF DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD If you do absolutely everything right, you unlock a post credits scene that explains away every 'evil' action, notably Loghain betraying Cailan in Origins, and Varric's brother taking the idol and abandoning Varric, Hawke and co in the Deep Roads in DA2, and all of these actions are some strange 'other beings' manipulating the world, more powerful than the elven gods. So not only did they ruin the story, not only did they undo close to two decades of work, they had to go and retcon previous games away. And the continuous laziness- assets from inquisition reused, poor plotlines, weak characters with stupid arcs, the 'we all have issues that stop us from focusing on the world falling apart'- the stakes have NEVER been higher, but its still Rook and the Gangs First Blight vibes it's just awful. I don't view it as canon 😅
@farebones Same. The core, ultimate core theme from Origins, that the rest of the series was supposed to be built on, is personal sacrifice for the greater good. And that included the morality of oneself. Loghain was the perfect example of this because *he, the entire time*, believed he was doing the right thing; that the Blight was a lie, and Cailan was just trying to bring an occupying army back into his country; a country Maric died for to free. Loghain sacrificed Cailan to protect Fereldan. Veilguard: nuh uh hes just evil because some magical sky voice made him do it
So glad you mentioned Palia. Whenever someone mentions toxic positivity, I think about Palia's disaster launch and how horrific the Discord is handled. Sims, FF14, and Palia have the biggest toxic positivity offenders.
I haven't played the game myself but a friend of mine and I watched her playing several hours plus I did my research on it. The Disney dreamlight valley community is delusional as well when it comes to the mediocre gameplay, the cash grab, the boring storyline/ storytelling. They die to defend this game which is made to sell you stuff with ingame coins. Why are they okay with that? I just heard that palia should be free to play. What's the problem with them?
I agree, I played Palia from closed Beta to launch and found it so utterly boring in how shallow the gameplay was. while it's pretty, it's dull. And the constant need for things to be cosy was annoying. everyone's definition of cosy is different. Players were having names censored cos they'd be reported on for not having cosy usernames (happened to my mate actually). Like it's sheer madness. This is why I prefer single player games myself. And avoid any gaming community. life is simpler and more sane that way.
@@amscraybaldwyn i mean thankfully for palia you dont have to interact with people. i dont look at the chat and if i need flow trees i just come at midnight and vanish into my bubble again xD im glad they dont put a big emphasis on the mmo part, cuz I do love palia for the most part (though I wish they'd spend more time on actual content and not skins lmao, though the skins are beautiful)
This is how I feel about Infinity Nikki, too. So many people are saying "THIS AMAZING GAME IS FREE" meanwhile they've spent over $100 on gacha pulls. And if anyone points it out they just say, "Well, I didn't HAVE to spend money." Clearly, you did have to spend money or you wouldn't have spent any money... but hey that's just me. I'm starting to think the cozy community as a whole has a toxic positivity problem.
I was really into Infinity Nikki, but the gacha gave anxiety to my FOMO. And honestly... it turned really boring after a while. I dont think I even reached the half of the main story.
@@luvithdrevis I felt the same with Project Sekai. Yeah, I can get every song for free, but I kept grinding for in-game currency to pull more cards on banners because every single card comes with a little story that is locked without them. It made me addicted and fed my FOMO. So glad I uninstalled it.
I love you and how you take sim-society so seriously and make high quality almost video essays on them! I love these but it feels like such a niche interest
this is the nicest comment haha i appreciate it. i really enjoy the process of making videos and trying to do something different each time, it’s a fun hobby. thank you for watching!!!
I think people like Not Malcolm and Satch are actually the real fans of the Sims - they point out the problems and demand improvement. They want the game to succeed and provide quality experience for the players.
8:14 This is embarrassing. LGBT+ people don't want to stand out or be shoved in your face, they just want to exist in a universe. Have gay and trans characters, sure! But this is just unnecessary. I always point to Tell Me Why as absolutely brilliant trans representation in a game, and that's because it presents the struggles in a really human way without shoving it down your throat.
i agree! there is a way to write characters in a way that’s complex and adds to the story without being so obvious or patronizing to the player. I think Dorian (the gay dude) in Dragon Age Inquisition was written extremely well.
They also give it away for free every June, which is how I played it. Really thoughtfully done game. I accidentally turned down the cute guy on the fishing trip, don't make my mistake.
The TS4 fanbase is like a cult with them ignoring the flaws of the poorly done game. They had no chill, insisting on their toxic positivity and being happy about the bare minimum while getting mad if someone points out whatever is wrong with the game.
I once saw a comment on Facebook that I never expected to see in the 21st Century and it was also misplaced. People complained about the price, how the sale made it unfair for those who bought the game at full price and a black woman said "You can't buy shoes in the beginning of a season and then complain that they become cheaper at the end of the season!". She got the answer that she screenshoted: "If you don't have enough money - go to the cotton plantations!". Really did not expect to see this sentence ever, and in the game all about diverse humans especially
the argument that everything should be full price all the time and never go on sale because it's unfair to those who bought it not on sale is such a hot take. that's the point of a sale...is that it isn't full price....and everyone knows games go on sale eventually so it's on them for not waiting like there is no way you can logic that out and not look like a complete dumbass
@@intri8116Fully agree. I guess a more questionable situation and practice in when a game that was fully priced goes free indefinitely in the middle of its run time or development course from one day to another (so not after it stopped to be supported anymore, which would make more sense imo). But until we only talk about sales or maybe even being free for only a very limited time period then I think it's ok.
(Kind of off-topic, sorry in advance) But Ive never even known or seen IGN as a toxic positivity kind of channel. But now that I’m getting older and maturing enough to read between the lines (aka rewatch some past videos), the majority of their reviews and content are highly positive with barely any noteworthy critique of low ratings. And now I see why this can be an issue to gaming communities because… y’all are just defending mediocrity.
honestly i never noticed it before either, but looking back they really tend to lean positive. Giving Dragon Age Veilguard a better review than Inquisition was a choice! For whatever reason they seem to give higher scores for games that are more hyped… even when those games aren’t necessarily deserving 🤷♂️
Great video! I’ve been playing The Sims since Sims 1. & I must say for a game that existed as a parody to capitalism, it’s interesting to see how much greed has ruined the franchise.. They don’t care anymore & the newer fans keep enabling them. So they figure why change?
It made me sad because it was hard to have constructive discussions about DAV because it would get mixed up with transphobic rhetoric as well as toxic positivity
completely understand. i was worried about even mentioning it in this video because i figured people were going to call me transphobic, but imo it’s not about the character being non-binary - it’s about the bad writing and poor character development
The Sims 4 is beyond saving, rotten by EA's greed, and enough players and creators alike engaging in toxic positivity. I'm done with The Sims 4. The gallery doesn't work, the traits on CAS disappear, the game crashes after 30 minutes or an hour of building, etc. I pirated all the DLCs thinking all I needed was just another pack to make my experience better, but unsurprisingly, all it did was add a load The Sims 4's rocky foundation can't take, and maybe some pretty stuff on CAS and build mode. I'm thinking of switching over to The Sims 3, but I also refuse to give EA a dime so... any help with that would be nice 🙏
Aight so, I play both The Sims 4 and FC 25 & I can confidently say that every TS4 criticism can be applied to the FC/FIFA franchise. Hyper-focus on mini features without addressing major flaws, certain exploits are fixed and cause more issues, the idea of playing the game is better than the actual game, you spend more time doing everything BUT playing actual matches, the game looks pretty but doesn't have the gameplay to make it worthwhile etc. I could go on forever, but one thing to be said is that FC fans are extremely vocal about their negative experiences and there isn't much toxic positivity within the community, yet EA still fail to address these concerns & instead focus on bringing "new and exciting features", which usually are either cool for about a week, or end up making the game worse (or are just overhyped and add absolutely nothing). Match scripting is also a major issue, it always has been but it's become so blatant in recent years & it's just not fun conceding goals when you know there was nothing you could have done to prevent them from happening 🤷♂️
awesome comment, thank you! i always wondered how FC/FIFA could go on for so many years with just minor tweaks here and there yet somehow still be successful. But after FC25 it seems like players are demanding more and I’m glad to see that!
@NotMalcolm thank you! Yeah again, it's a game that taps into a niche within the market and has little to no competition, similar to Sims & so once again, EA have been getting away with doing the bare minimum for so long & players are finally just straight up not playing it like they used to.
It’s obvious DA was in development hell (probably thanks to EA) and that was to its detriment and while many still enjoyed veilguard a lot, they also mourn what could have been I don’t think anyone was afraid to say anything, I think they were simply fired Yesterday, EA layed off the last original writers on the game, the era of DA is over I’m afraid 💔
i don’t understand the argument of ppl not wanting sims 5 because of their save files in sims 4…? we had Into the Future less than a year before sims 4 released. toxic sims 4 players are the worst 🤦🏽♀️
I am tired of the toxity postivity and tired of EA game changers double standards. Stop playing the game. Have you watched the Legenary Drops 'EA is falling before our very eye' ?
Thanks for mentioning Palia. It started off so good, but it's now almost what, 2 years in beta with just 2 locations and spitting out ridiculously priced cosmetics with no actual content. I was their whale because I love cosmetics but I swam away XD because there's literally nothing to do there.
My life motto is, piracy is allways the answer if EA is behind the game. I do have some exceptions like Alice Madness Returns but EA technically didn't make that game, js bought the rights to it
James Turner once said in a video "If you are not gonna laugh, then all that we can do is cry" when he had trouble playing the game during a video because of bugs and lag. It feels like there is almost a sense of defeatism regarding the sims along with this toxic positivity. I agree with what you said that it's important to point things out and don't be afraid to voice your opinion. The thing is that it's mostly just a community thing, EA doesn't care, in fact generally companies WANT people to be a bit critical and voice their opinion because that creates engagement. The worst thing that a company wants is for people to be silently disappointed because that's when they take their words into action and stop using their product. So yeah, toxic positivity is destroying the sims, if people are nothing but positive then people are going to take their words into action and leave.
The thing that really ticks me off is that blindly loyal and toxic Sims 4 fans will neverendingly defend this clunky, buggy, boring, overpriced game with their lives and gladly accept and normalize how bad it is...but let a creator NOT update their mods immediately after EA breaks something for the 3,547th time and they attack like a pack of rabid dogs. No, no, no, Sweetheart, you need to direct that smoke towards the devs and executives who continue to push out buggy, expensive packs and lazy, game breaking updates, not the people who voluntarily make mods to fix and improve the hot mess that is TS4. The disconnect is REAL.
One thing that straight up bothers the hell out of me, because it NEVER got fixed after they made a deal of it, is how absolutely TERRIBLE the masculine/feminine frames look on the opposite sex sims - and that was the entire POINT OF THE FEATURE. I swear no one talks about it but it was literally a complete mess from day 1 and looks awful, but did they ever try to fix it? If they did, they clearly didn't try like AT ALL. It felt like it was added just so they'd look "progressive" but that was it. Same with the binders literally doing f**k all. I do play the game on occasion, but god if I'm not fed up it feeling so soulless.
Constructive critism is healthy and people should do that. I don't know why the sims community and the cozy game community almost never do that and they just gaslight themselves over half-baked DLC's and get excited over the bare minimum. Take a game like No Man Sky, this game under delivered on release and the player base critised the game a lot! this forced the devs to improve the game and they're updating it for free to this day. Same thing happened with Cyberounk 2077 and look at how the game is now. I remember I wrote something on the sims subreddit saying that people shouldn't buy the upcoming sims game to show EA that we're not going to enable their behavior, the moderators removed my comment 💀. I think this sort of reaction is why the franchise sadly won't ever improve.
If you thought your old content was repetitive this is another level.. the community deserves criticism, sure, but it’s all critique videos on your channel now. Would love to see some other stuff again.
And the killing part is that if any other community went through something similar, the publisher and the studio would've stopped the bullshit once the community stood up for themselves. These current simmers forget and forgive with every single DLC they drop. That's literally why there's almost 100 separate DLCs for this game; it shuts people up and no matter how much they complain EA knows you're gonna give them money either way 😭
Conversations with people online have generally become very toxic. I‘m from the 90‘s and back in the day, when the Internet was still in it‘s early stage, you‘d go somewhere (on a forum etc) to meet like minded people to talk about your favourite hobby whatever and never ever have I encountered the toxic behaviour that‘s so common these days. I‘m not saying it was all better back in the day, we had issues as well, but all of this just generally drives me away from engageing with people online. Seriously, I actually met a ton of people that became real life friends - is that even a thing anymore or are people just insulting each other while they become more and more lonely? It‘s a complex situation, I know, but as being part of the LGBTQ+ community, I make sure to stay away from that community as well because there‘s a lot of people that have gone from peaceful to the absolute same extreme as the people they complain about not accepting them. There‘s nothing wrong with being loud and proud, but if you can‘t do it without hurting or insulting, just don‘t do it all. And it‘s pretty much the same with the Sims - I grew up playing Sims 1 and Sims 2 and that Community surrounding the games was truly lovely, open minded and awesome. Sims 4? well, let‘s say it‘s community these days kinda represents the faulty, buggy mess that the whole game is. Seriously, if the center point of your life is to insult people on the internet for disliking the game that you claim to love, PLEASE seek help. I don‘t mean that to hurt anyone, but it‘s rather worrying. Also fuck EA for acting like they care about diversity. News Flash: they don‘t.
I agree with everything here...I was hoping for sims 5 but....instead they decided to milk people for money for who knows how many years...this is why I stick with sims 3
As consumers, we expect a product to work and have the right to pursue a solution when it doesn’t work as expected. It’s not “hater” behavior to want our money’s worth from a product. A really amazing gaming community would have to be medieval dynasty’s community. The devs listened, and crafted an amazing game from how it started. They Listened to their players. It’s such a peaceful, creative, and supportive community. I’ve been attacked by the sims 4 girlies in the comments sections, too. It’s wild.
We seem to live in a social media climate now where you can either HATE or LOVE and there is no in between. You can't have an opinion, and it won't be respected, because you are WRONG and HATEFUL! Regardless of how respectful and amiable you are. The sims 4 community is massively toxic and displays the above mentality all the time. Ive loved playing the Sims for around 20 years, but the sims 4 isn't this 5⭐ masterpiece all the players on the LOVE side shout it out as being. If you express dissatisfaction with the game or something you get "that sounds like a you problem" and how HATEFUL you are... Again, regardless of how politely you expressed your opinion. The mob comes running torches and pitchforks in hand to get you.
"Oh, this is what we got so we need to accept it", is the single thing that got us here in the first place. This "toxic positivity" is what allows the gaming industry to drop all the standarts and do shit stuff and get rich. But if you say it, these people will turn to YOU and accuse you. Defending the real villains. I... I can't... And about Veilguard, some scenes are sooo forced. Is like they were trying to fill up some kind of to do list. They wrote these "progressive" scenes so badly it borders cringe, is so out of place. The message they want to deliver is valid, but so badly executed it just feeds the bad steryotype around these themes. Really, fire all the staff behind the script.
Seems like a form of toxic positivity that has these people being so nasty to you. They have so thoroughly convinced themselves in their own minds that they are good and on the 'right' side, that they feel entitled and well within their rights to be so horrible to others when anyone disagrees with them. Because, they say/do all the right things and support all the right things, how could they POSSIBLY be wrong about anything? Anyone that opposes their stance HAS to be scum, right? It's disgusting, and every time I see the comments people leave about you I feel so irritated, because these people are the same ones that would preach about spreading "love" and "acceptance" and "kindness". SMH. Also, imagine telling a stranger online to off themselves in defense of a multi million dollar corporation that sees you as nothing but profit. COULDN'T BE ME.
What the most disappointing thing is I used to like lilsimise until she became sell out to her young impressionable audience and became extremely hypocritical. I will never trust anyone who is apart of the EA Creator Network expect for one person. When I first saw the drama related to you I even sides with the people on Twitter, until I started watching all your videos then I realize how unhinged this community is.
Something having the potential to improve doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad, it just means it’s not as good as it could be. Apparently people think critiquing something is inherently attacking it… And people wonder why gaming as a whole is going down the toilet.
they could never make me hate you i swearr lilsimsie stans are more toxic than anyone else and are willing to defend someone who would value their ea partnership over a fan
Buys game, Buys the 91 DLC's, Base game becomes free anyway, money wasted, game bugged and uninspired. You're better off playing a mobile game at this point.😂 These are basically micro transactions.
Now we getting rereleased versions of first 2 games probably not for free and people are overjoyed lol They should be remastered at least and if not given for free
Seeing how they break the sims 4 with every update I don’t trust them with those rereleases, I bet lots of people will have problems launching the game or smth else, just get some popcorn and watch 🪑 🍿
I agree with this video because now, when I think about it, toxic positivity really destroys the game. It quite disappointing me sometimes, I'm glad I didn't join the Sims community I just sense sometimes off. Didn't critical the game performance and the bug fixes, it's odd to me. I just want ea to fix all the bugs instead bring out new packs. Thank you for letting us know.
I’m not sure if Toxic Positivity really makes people feel safe, it makes the people whose world view and opinion is being validated feel safe. But the nature of toxic positivity makes negative or neutral opinions unsafe to hold and most ordinary people have plenty of negative or neutral opinions. Unless you’re the kind of person who sees nothing wrong with being surrounded by insincerity you’ll probably be deeply troubled by a toxically positive work environment. It’ll make you fear your co-workers and feel disconnected from the world around you.
I've thought for years that The Sims team at EA have taken advantage of the fact that their core audience is mostly women and children to prey on their emotions and learned behaviour to be accepting and quiet, in order to protect themselves from deserved backlash. So nice to see it called out. I see the use of Sims Gurus as a manipulation tactic honestly. When EA messed up with Mass Effect 3 they were voted the worst company ever for like three years. When they mess up with the Sims, as far back as Sims 2, then you better not make a Sim Guru sad or you'll be getting death threats from those who say not to hate.
I've said this before. It's not a coincidence that the people who openly criticize the game are mostly male (at least the ones I watch) - Malcom, Satch, Pixelade, James Turner.
Honestly the way the community treats simfluencers based on how the sims team props them up on pedestals and this whole thing with toxic positivity, it reminds me of the horror stories of those who’ve left MLM’s. And take it from them, if you’re in a community that says the hustle is failing because you’re not hustling enough, you’re not supporting the leaders/influencers enough, you’re not being positive, it’s a cult
4:00 this reminds me of those people who are dating an asshole, and kind of know it, but choose to ignore it and attack anyone who points out a red flag because they rather beeing in a unfulfilling relationship over beeing alone 🤔
Talking about Dragon Age THE Veilguard, when the first vids of the game were coming out and about, I criticized a lot of the game and tried to point out actual problems on the subredrit. I have been met with such toxicity there, words can't describe, and now looking at all the recent EA news, I'm so happy.

What’s so messed up about the toxic positivity is that these people are so complacent with the flaws. Like?? Shouldn’t we all want to game to be the best it can without draining our bank accounts or without copious mods to fix professional developers’ mistakes?
absolutely! the way the game’s problems are accepted & normalized in the sims 4 community is bizarre … same with the game’s monetization
@@sweethistorteaLilsimsie, I have that too. It’s weird that we need a mod for such a basic feature.
@@BrianZatzke A lot of mini mods I had were QOL ones. It seemed so basic to include.
Why hidden?
Putting a positive spin on everything has killed The Sims. And I'm grateful that you and Satch don't mind pointing that out.
I'm pretty sure it is what is killing our planet too.....

Don't forget the diving board. :)

This is the standard. We all contributed to this lol
Is exactly because of people like her that the industry got to where it is.
They are abusive and lazy, and the consumers are "oh well... here take my money". But when others try to rise and demand change these people turn to us? They defend the freaking abusive and lazy system.

None of the packs work together, Live mode is TRASH and glitchy, the gallery is a hot mess full of 10 years' worth of unorganized content, and every expansion pack feels like it is still in beta mode. Then the kits are just micro transactions in disguise.

lol that’s what I thought when people were commenting that they were excited about the new hobbies pack. Like how are you gonna be excited about something that can be free?
exactly haha they really want to pay for a Get To Work refresh ong
The sims has never had free dlc
People are so annoying and delusional thinking sims 4 is the best game when it’s definitely sims 2
as someone who had only played the sims 4, i tried the sims 2 this year and its so much more fun! in sims 4 you have to make your sims do fun things while sims 2 sims just decide what direction they want to go in
@ Exactly without mods sims 4 is boring
also sims 3 is really good game and underated imo
@@HyperQuills03 I like it too but the lags is annoying
About the pronoums feature on The Sims. I was excited about it. They made such a buzz about it. Turns out years later it still only available in english. I can't use it.
The gender customization pannel doesn't allow full customization and it is VERY LIMITED.
Not just these things but also the "cultural" infused packs. They barely put effort into the cultural aspects of it. Yet they make it clear while promoting the pack.
They just want to earn points, they don't care about the people they are representing. If they really cared, they would've fixed that already or even better, made it right from the begining.
I’ve always wanted a world based on Prague since my mom is Czech. I know they’d mess up the aspects of Czech culture.
I understand, that changing the pronouns, could have taken longer for other languages. Czech has much more complicated gendering, where even the fricking verbs are gendered. However it's been like forever and if they actually TRIED. It would have been in the game already. They don't care.
@@sweethistorteaThey would fumble that one so hard. Imagine the stalls where you could buy trdelníky with ice cream 💀.
Wait, do people outside of English not even get the fill in the blank type of pronouns?
The one thing that made me laugh about the Veilguard situation is that they always recall every bit of the story as if you have memory loss. Really nails down the bad writing there.
And it's not even that it's a hard story to follow in the first place, even taking in consideration all the non linear bits and passages 😭
No one wants to listen to an opposing view, so many people believe they are right, and they will die on that hill, no matter what.
i love how dramatic you are with your story telling really makes me feel like im IN IT
dramatic ISNT BAD
thank u this is actually the biggest compliment i’m trying to get an Emmy ❤️
The toxic positivity is so weird. I get annoyed when ts4 fans say “the game is fun you just need to be creative.” There’s no difficulty, and the multitudes of different pack systems were not built with the others in mind so a lot of gameplay features clash and it comes across like nobody at ea asks themselves, “is this fun to play with? does this gameplay mix well with the previous packs? will this constant popup be annoying in gameplay?”
Hot take i know, but you shouldn’t have to imagine to make the fun scenarios you like in a life sim. like before lovestruck came out, you just had to pretend your sims were actually affected by being cheated on or mod in cheating reactions yourself.
I became a Sims player in 2018 with TS4. I played all the previous games, but I couldn't find a place for them in my heart
"so.. im non binary" 💀
As a non-binary person, I fucking hated that scene and many other ones, hence why I am never touching that game 😃
@tomx0078 I'm non binary too. It's so bad 🤣
Hello fellow nonbinary people 💜 just wanted to say hi 😅😂

That's disappointing, but I'm unfortunately not surprised these days. So many companies claim to be inclusive but only do the least they can for clout. Smh.

There is mod for functional binder by pigeonhome, but I don't know if it still works
It’s insane how anytime I comment on how EA takes advantage of their player base and they’re basically scamming I get absolutely shit on… like these people are the reason this company can keep getting away with this
People who spend the money are. Free will is great
It’s not even toxic positivity. It’s just toxic.
Honestly, when people already praising EA for a new leak expansion (businesses and hobbies) which should be included as a feature in get to work or at least a pack refresh (remember those anyone?) it's already over
the amount of simmers ive seen actively shut down people who rag on EAs stupid business moves is bizarre, saying its 'toxic' or 'not important'
why are we defending a garbage company so badly instead of wanting a better game 💀
all this ^^ the standards are in the gutter
If we are complaining it is just because we know the potential and want it to be better. Sims 4 players mostly don't know what sims game can be and it is hard to get used to older graphics, cas, build mode.
I didn't see someone criticized sims 4 complaining about CAS, building or graphic style. Cause they are good we all know that, now show the same effort for the rest of the game.
exactly! 💯
my biggest mistake in life will forever be preordering the sims 4 for PC at full price…
I still don't understand why i need Mods for Basic shit that should be in the Base Game to begin with.
- Pool Tables/Other Bar Activities that were removed from TS2, TS3 (Do they think that nobody Plays Pool anymore??)
- Pull-up Bars and other Fitness related Equipment
- Home Invasions and Robberies (Because of course, Burglars don't exist in real life Silly!)
- Poker/Gambling (A Touchy one for some, But i personally like being allowed to have my Sim Bet and Gamble)
- Cars and Transportation (The excuse of "It's not Open world" Doesn't apply when TS2 Had Cars, Stop defending EA's Laziness)
The List could go on and on...
I have so many amazing memories associated with this franchise
I completely agree it’s sad to see this franchise turn into another cash grab by EA 😢
You really must have no personality at all if someone say a valid critic about your fav game and you take is a personal attack...
As a long time Dragon Age lover, I personally believed Veilguard was going to be a flop when they changed the title from Dreadwolf.
But its more than a flop-
SPOILERS FOR THE TRUE ENDING OF DRAGON AGE VEILGUARD
If you do absolutely everything right, you unlock a post credits scene that explains away every 'evil' action, notably Loghain betraying Cailan in Origins, and Varric's brother taking the idol and abandoning Varric, Hawke and co in the Deep Roads in DA2, and all of these actions are some strange 'other beings' manipulating the world, more powerful than the elven gods.
I don't view it as canon 😅
sometimes i wonder if the person in charge of DAV hated Dragon Age
@farebones Same. The core, ultimate core theme from Origins, that the rest of the series was supposed to be built on, is personal sacrifice for the greater good.
And that included the morality of oneself.
Loghain was the perfect example of this because *he, the entire time*, believed he was doing the right thing; that the Blight was a lie, and Cailan was just trying to bring an occupying army back into his country; a country Maric died for to free.
Loghain sacrificed Cailan to protect Fereldan.

So glad you mentioned Palia. Whenever someone mentions toxic positivity, I think about Palia's disaster launch and how horrific the Discord is handled.
Sims, FF14, and Palia have the biggest toxic positivity offenders.
Ahh you’re the second person to mention toxic positivity with Final Fantasy, didn’t realize things were that bad over there 😳
I haven't played the game myself but a friend of mine and I watched her playing several hours plus I did my research on it.

I was really into Infinity Nikki, but the gacha gave anxiety to my FOMO. And honestly... it turned really boring after a while. I dont think I even reached the half of the main story.
@@luvithdrevis I felt the same with Project Sekai. I think people like Not Malcolm and Satch are actually the real fans of the Sims - they point out the problems and demand improvement. They want the game to succeed and provide quality experience for the players.
i think i can speak for Satch too when I say we’re both fans of the sims and want the franchise to succeed and innovate
@ keep up the great work!
I think Dorian (the gay dude) in Dragon Age Inquisition was written extremely well.
thank you!
I stopped taking them seriously after they gave some Pokemon games a 7/10 rating because the map had too much water.
@@sweethistortea haha ohhh I’ve heard about that. the Alien Isolation review was wild too
@@NotMalcolm The region the Pokemon games took place in had a lot of water because that was apart of the story, so I have no idea what they were on.
@@sweethistortea It was Anakin SkyWater reviewing.
Great video! I’ve been playing The Sims since Sims 1. & I must say for a game that existed as a parody to capitalism, it’s interesting to see how much greed has ruined the franchise.. They don’t care anymore & the newer fans keep enabling them. So they figure why change?
thats so true, i think a lot of the newer fans don't even realize how much of a downgrade the new game is!
@ yeah Taash was… hard to like. They wrote them like a caricature instead of a person. I didn’t hate the game but it definitely had a lot of issues
Thank you
awesome comment, thank you! i always wondered how FC/FIFA could go on for so many years with just minor tweaks here and there yet somehow still be successful.
It’s obvious DA was in development hell (probably thanks to EA) and that was to its detriment
and while many still enjoyed veilguard a lot, they also mourn what could have been
I don’t think anyone was afraid to say anything, I think they were simply fired
Yesterday, EA layed off the last original writers on the game, the era of DA is over I’m afraid 💔
you’re right, it’s actually really sad that Veilguard (likely) was the nail in the coffin for the entire franchise 😢
i don’t understand the argument of ppl not wanting sims 5 because of their save files in sims 4…? we had Into the Future less than a year before sims 4 released. toxic sims 4 players are the worst 🤦🏽♀️
I agree that argument never made sense to me; they could keep playing the sims 4 even if a sims 5 was released 🤷♂️
Nothing gets solved, if nothing gets addressed. This is exactly why people rightfully complain, to make a problem well known.
I love you, you’re doing god’s work.
love you more!
me watching EA lose money 🤠🍿
One thing that straight up bothers the hell out of me, because it NEVER got fixed after they made a deal of it, is how absolutely TERRIBLE the masculine/feminine frames look on the opposite sex sims - and that was the entire POINT OF THE FEATURE. I swear no one talks about it but it was literally a complete mess from day 1 and looks awful, but did they ever try to fix it? If they did, they clearly didn't try like AT ALL. It felt like it was added just so they'd look "progressive" but that was it. Same with the binders literally doing f**k all. I do play the game on occasion, but god if I'm not fed up it feeling so soulless.
thank you malcolm you and satch are my favorite gays
thats a weird thing to say. why not simply say "guys" or whatever..
Would love to see some other stuff again.
literally every video i’ve made is a different topic… if it all seems the same to you then maybe it’s a cognitive issue?
Combat toxic positivity with toxic negativity. Works for me.
hahaha that’s certainly one approach, i try to walk the line but i get accused of being a hater anyway lol
And the killing part is that if any other community went through something similar, the publisher and the studio would've stopped the bullshit once the community stood up for themselves. These current simmers forget and forgive with every single DLC they drop. That's literally why there's almost 100 separate DLCs for this game; it shuts people up and no matter how much they complain EA knows you're gonna give them money either way 😭
Clearly don’t play Diablo
Okayyy consistent schedule
hahaha 😅 tbh it’s lunar new year here so i had some free time
I agree with everything here...I was hoping for sims 5 but....instead they decided to milk people for money for who knows how many years...this is why I stick with sims 3
They're the same type that told covid vaccine skeptics that they should die.
0:48 You're a witch? Hell yeah, get your broom! We ride, witches!
😂 let’s add a third and we got a full on hocus pocus
@@NotMalcolm I got dibs on the vacuum, to be obnoxious af!
Do you hug the chef when he messes up your dinner 92 times? 😂
I just do Sims 1 content. I just shut up and play the game, and I let the gameplay speak on my behalf.
Yes I always love your videos! Thank you for keeping retro Simming alive!
Toxic simmers attacked me and mass reported me last week on Twitter JUST because I said I use the Extreme Violence mod😭
honestly how dare you 😂
What the most disappointing thing is I used to like lilsimise until she became sell out to her young impressionable audience and became extremely hypocritical.
Apparently people think critiquing something is inherently attacking it…
And people wonder why gaming as a whole is going down the toilet.
they could never make me hate you i swearr lilsimsie stans are more toxic than anyone else and are willing to defend someone who would value their ea partnership over a fan
Dude, you are gonna have a field day with the next expansion pack coming to TS4. It’s “hobbies”. 🤣🤣🤣
that’s very meta cuz EA’s hobby is creating useless DLC
Buys game, Buys the 91 DLC's,
Base game becomes free anyway, money wasted, game bugged and uninspired.
You're better off playing a mobile game at this point.😂
These are basically micro transactions.
Now we getting rereleased versions of first 2 games probably not for free and people are overjoyed lol They should be remastered at least and if not given for free
they should definitely be released for free like sims 2 was in 2013/2014 - or at least at an extreme discount
$1000 for arguably the worst sims iteration.
We really need to boycott this game
Toxic positivity isn't killing The Sims, gamers willing to pay for EA's bs is what cemented the death of legendary games like The Sims.
thank you for covering DA, that one made me feel like i was losing it
As a trans person I have to ask, for science. Have you been called transphobic for making fun of the dragon game yet?
not yet! 😅
I have so many games I like, that i can say have shit aspects of it and I feel like that's the healthiest way to deal with it.
Talking about Dragon Age THE Veilguard, when the first vids of the game were coming out and about, I criticized a lot of the game and tried to point out actual problems on the subredrit. I have been met with such toxicity there, words can't describe, and now looking at all the recent EA news, I'm so happy.
Another Sims-exposing video after just 3 days is this what heaven feels like?
“it is easier for a sims 4 hater to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a sims 4 stan to enter heaven” - Matthew 19:24
Wow, that dragon game is ridiculous.
interesting
I love playing the sims, but omg the one group I was in had no sense of humour whatsoever. It was painful talking with them
