    Im suprised. Mochy is playing backgammon very aggressively in the past. Now is diffrent.

    Hello Mochy i want to ask you a question: When top players play backgammon does the result still depending on their skill or there´s a point when the skill becomes irrelevant and only showed in very very long runs like a diference of 1 dollar for every 1000 games? If there´s such a point, where is it?

    • @bgmochy
      @bgmochy  7 лет назад +5

      There is a difference even between the top players. it will be from 1%-3% I believe (among top players). So it means the best player can still win 51% against any given opponent.

    Judging from his hand movements, Mochy seems upset/frustrated.

    This is the semi final and I don't how Mochy got that far to be honest. That 6-1 at 35:00 which ended up costing him the game was completely his fault as he played the double 2 the worst possible way.

      He played the 22 perfect and the 61 but thanks for your in depth thoughts.

      Atheist. No he didn't play the perfect 22. I couldn't give a damn what snowie, gnub, backgammon x and all the other bots show as the best play. He simply played it wrong. He should've simply played 7 to 5 and bear off 2 from 2. But I also pity Mochy who I am a big fan of because he was unbelievably unlucky to not get a roll to jump over Akiko's piece. Furthermore, after rolling the 6-1 and forced to leave a blot, did Mochy have to hit leaving her with a 6 to hit? Here I wouldn't have hit and simply left her with an ace to hit.

      JonBenait06. All champions and the greatest players in the world make blunders. Period. I believe playing the 22 the way Mochy did was wrong and a blunder.

      +Caner Ovali you don't care what XG says and we don't care what you say so we all got that going for us. Bots only play the game perfectly.

    17p match in a world championship semifinal. Are you kidding? That's not serious. World Championship Matches should last longer to eliminate a little bit the influence of luck.

      I agree with you!! He played it very wrong !
      He should've played it safely and could end up won da game!

    • @MrEdwardCollins
      @MrEdwardCollins 9 лет назад

      +Rami Ramitto What am I missing? The 6-1 at 35:00 could not be played safely. Any play exposes a blot. If you leave a blot on the 7-point, a 1 hits. If you hit the blot on the 6-point, and leave a blot on the 6-point, a 6 from the bar hits. Eleven numbers either way. Mochy's play looks okay since it wins slightly more gammons.

    • @MrEdwardCollins
      @MrEdwardCollins 8 лет назад +1

      +JonBenait06 If played properly? What do you believe was the best way for Mochy to play 2-2?
      It's certainly not 7/5(2), 2/off(2). According to a 4-ply analysis of GNU, that's actually the third best move, a -.006 error. (I don't have eXtreme Gammon on my laptop here, but I suspect the analysis would be the same.)
      Even if Mochy had play 6/4*/2, 3/1(2) that's setting yourself up for problems later, with that gap on your 4-point.
      Mochy's play of 6/3*(3) 3/1 was actually fine. At worst it's a .001 error (according to GNU). Because he later rolled a 6-1 and was forced to leave a blot because of it, is completely irrelevant.
      Playing 100% safe on each move is not always best. You have to look at what will happen a move or two later. ( "Pay now or pay later.") Sometimes it's best to "Pay now."

      Mochy makes fewer mistakes than almost any other player in the world - but no-one is free of blunders in this game, that is just not possible! You think he played badly? Then you don't understand the game very well!

  • @inyourgenes

    So slow......there is not that many permutations......it is not like chess.

    • @PeterOzanne
      @PeterOzanne 3 года назад

      Actually there's more permutations, because each roll you have several choices, and then the opponent has 36 possible rolls, so the "tree" of possibilities grows hugely each roll: plus you have cube decisions, race counting. There are many more decisions per minute than in chess - ask Bill Robertie, who plays both at high level.

    one of the matches that turned everything especially after Winning the tournament.A true Princess and ambassadeurof the community Like Mochy.the new generation,out with Gus hansen and Fallafel,dont see em perform well any more.and gus ha men isnt worth giving a free 5 point match for 10.000 dollars against another pro.just to show case.now Gus been far out of the ramplight.in fact was his only rated match that year.and in main he lost as fast as possible,taking big blunders.but he allready won more then the win er this year.after making two bets.the first Called up would win,and the number of names before next was announced it costed 1000dol the 3.only in for 100. and Gus was Called number 12 and the greek on 100 Called 53 and the icelandic player was number 105.so 93.000 plus 4100 dol before tourn even started.and they bet on everything.Once as a younger bg player I was out playing 2 division match well knowing meeting a 1 div team normally and he tried to psyke me with asking to play for what is around 200dol then 100 and Iturned down.and won 17 1.in my first game was at a tournament and i got hooked.and though became 2. cause many starts out loosing loads of rating untill you understand the game isnt about etting safe around but lure opponent to make mistakes.and i was 25 before i saw all the marts behindthe game and could understand it.and now i got UEFA cup win and much more.9 officiel big results plus all small café tournaments.looking forward to Gibraltar open this year in November.Hope its as good as nordic open.or las Vegas maybe Even monaco

    • @PeterOzanne
      @PeterOzanne 3 года назад

      Sure, the game is not "about getting safe around" - but HOW can it be about "lure opponent to make mistakes"? No. You just have to play better moves. If you play a worse move to get your opp. to make a mistake, you will mostly get punished by his dice or move! There is only one exception: when you are losing against a bad player, and you know you can make a risky move because you KNOW he will not hit you (for example, hit loose in home board)
