Plato defined democracy so because he was very much affected by the execution of his guru, the Socrates, who was force to have a poison drink by the ignorant masses for raising questions against Athenian democracy. He used to question each and every thing because he believed that he knew that he knew nothing. While others would think like they knew everything. They did not question but Socrates did. That may be the reason why Plato hated democracy and said it the rule of the ignorant people.
