Vocaloid basically sums up what happens when you make something more accessible to people. There's a reason why all these big jpop artists and producers have vocaloid roots. Vocaloid software opened so many doors to allow people to create music without the traditional pathway of affording equipment/instruments/teams/production/studio rentals/etc. Especially for younger folks. Fast forward almost 5-10 years and these same "rookies" are now industry professionals. Today's social media era has also really helped jumpstart online careers and success. The music industry is so competitive and hard to get a foot in, especially if you weren't backed by another company/studio. But things like youtube, vocaloid and social media have broken down a lot of these barriers and now we have artists with humble roots making it bigger than company-backed artists.
I see they started adding more "Ayase" into the branding, I also felt bad that Ikura was stealing the spotlight, for those that do not spend time to read about the group, many of my friends didn't even know about Ayase :(
yeah yoasobi and their rising is totally goated. huge respect to ayase and ikura. banger after banger after banger, and what's different about them is they somehow managed to take root in the western audience too, which is huge for their popularity
Honestly when I discovered Ayase (through Last Resort), my first thought was that it sounded kind of similar to nuyuri's songs lol I never imagined that he would become this successful, but I think that it's well deserved!!
also I don't think that Miku "saved" Ayase, it's simply that a lot of independent producers use Vocaloid to push forward their careers (among other things, and I'm not saying that it's necessarily the only reason or even the main one! but it's clearly a thing)
Vocaloid is truly amazing for musical artists with talents who lack the confidence to use their own voice. They can express themselves with a voice which has no limits as to how you can bend it aroung perfection.
And now Idol break the most of records for a japanese songs and still after three months in the 10th most popular videos of youtube and also the live perfomance stay like 5 days in the 79th most popular song (reaching first the 31 th position).
good video maybe little bit rushed at the end i would like to learn more about them joining together and their path together also some sort of citation of their opinion about their rise in popularity would be really interesting other than that good video wouldnt be surprised if it is going to hit 100k views
I'd love a second video on this if that's possible! I came from your Project Sekai video a while back. Love your content and keep it up! One of the most interesting videos I have seen in a long time by the way!
Hatsune Miku kickstarted a lot of people's careers. From pushing VR tech to how it is today and artists. She is truly us and she is our voice. Truly the best diva.

Hard work always pays you back, sooner or later. But you must also have a Sony in your country. The amount of help and boost that Sony gives to the youth is really huge, and admirable. I had no idea about how Yoasobi started, and that it's backed from Sony, but I had heard about Plusonica, and The First Take. To think that Plusonica takes in the youth that is trying to exist in that huge world of music, and tries to give them knowledge and experience, is just unbelievable. And The First Take which makes the artists take more popularity, being alraedy famous or not, and also giving a totally different experience compared to a normal recording with all the mixing, effects, mastering etc.

I see they started adding more "Ayase" into the branding, I also felt bad that Ikura was stealing the spotlight, for those that do not spend time to read about the group, many of my friends didn't even know about Ayase :(
Wdym into branding? I don't understand that.
Afaik, most of the people think Ayase is the vocalist of YOASOBI and they don't even know about ikura.
Interesting vid ! Nice storytelling, humor and timing :) Glad i learned so much
So thats why Idol was so good because they put what they been thou in the song. Idol is so good.
Thank you yoasobi and hatsune miku makes my life colourful again 😊😊
Fun fact: the "crappy macbook" is still to this day his main machine (he only uses it to make the music tho since it could fail while performing)
can I have a link to the song at 0:28
1 year anniversary and no answer. It’s IDOL btw
i love how the randomly inserted Aris for dramatic effect goes on to be a recurring place marker
Gonna be real with you, that idol cover at the introduction is straight up fire
Thanks for sharing about this!
yeah yoasobi and their rising is totally goated. huge respect to ayase and ikura. banger after banger after banger, and what's different about them is they somehow managed to take root in the western audience too, which is huge for their popularity
Appreciate this video man :) beautiful values in this keep up the good work!
Honestly when I discovered Ayase (through Last Resort), my first thought was that it sounded kind of similar to nuyuri's songs lol
I never imagined that he would become this successful, but I think that it's well deserved!!
also I don't think that Miku "saved" Ayase, it's simply that a lot of independent producers use Vocaloid to push forward their careers (among other things, and I'm not saying that it's necessarily the only reason or even the main one! but it's clearly a thing)
you deserve a million subs!
Vocaloid is truly amazing for musical artists with talents who lack the confidence to use their own voice. They can express themselves with a voice which has no limits as to how you can bend it aroung perfection.
Why do Japanese schools websites always look like they were made before the internet?
Great explanation! Thank you !
Definitely deserves more views
Woah that's a crazy story! It's nice to see how far yoasobi has come :D this video is underrated for sure!
i never thought i'd see twoset used as a meme in a yoasobi video!!
And now Idol break the most of records for a japanese songs and still after three months in the 10th most popular videos of youtube and also the live perfomance stay like 5 days in the 79th most popular song (reaching first the 31 th position).
I had no idea that gunjou was for blue period. Great vid keep it up
Don't forget that Ayase was commisioned to create a song for Project Sekai as well which resulted in Cinema
‘Racing through the night’ is on Project Sekai, I genuinely wonder why
0:03 Raleigh is pronounce as raw-lee.
good video maybe little bit rushed at the end i would like to learn more about them joining together and their path together also some sort of citation of their opinion about their rise in popularity would be really interesting other than that good video wouldnt be surprised if it is going to hit 100k views
Amazing video! How do you go about your research if I might ask? It feels like a nice little deep-dive.
I'd love a second video on this if that's possible! I came from your Project Sekai video a while back. Love your content and keep it up!
One of the most interesting videos I have seen in a long time by the way!
Just came back from Japan. Every shop is now playing IDOL by Yoasobi.
Hatsune Miku kickstarted a lot of people's careers. From pushing VR tech to how it is today and artists. She is truly us and she is our voice. Truly the best diva.
To this day, I still enjoy what she was doing on Plusonica.
does anybody have a link to the performance at 8:00 ?
6:47 does anyone know where I can find the source of ikura singing that doraemon song? Her voice sounds so nice paired with that song but I can’t find it anywhere!
This is one of those videos that just hunt me in my homepage until I finally watch them lol
Amazing journey of them❤
Patience, hardwork, and a bit of luck. Remember, every artist has a story.
Thx to yt recommendations I got to see this. Great work

This video deserve a million views
I didn't know that they were so new! They sound so professional!
Genio! No sabía nada sobre la historia de ellos, muy buen video informativo! Saludos de argentina 🇦🇷
Great video!
whats the Name of the song in the Ending ?
amazing video, but from lets work on yoasobi to no 1 billboard part was a bit fast wtf happened in between, did they just release it and overnight it blew up?
Global Lockdown effect. 2020 really are the peak usage of social media.
Happy miku day !
Fyi ayase made new song for miku its called - "HERO"
Officially release on YOASOBI official channel
I’ve always wondered who yoasobi were. This answered my question.
I discovered YOASOBI because of BEASTARS S2 opening clip, and it was a BANGER. Then racing into the night
you're so underrated!!
As an old fan of Gundam and a fan of yoasobi. I never thought I would listen to a Gundam op with them and boy it’s so refreshing.
Have to thank hatsune miku for that
Amazing video now I have more appreciation for their music
