For one, Heathers heavily inspired the musical in the sense of the three mean girls and the good but flawed main girl dynamic. Another fun fact is the director of Mean Girls, Mark Andrews, is brothers with Heathers writer Dan Andrews. There had to have been some sort of collaboration or inspiration behind the scenes there. So yeah, definitely some crossover there.

She needs them to validate her because she has a lot of self hatred going on in the inside and Regina is pretty much the root of a lot of her insecurties...It's not because she has feelings for Regina, it's because Regina occasionally gives her some positive attention.
