Very cool idea Mary. Love the idea on the napkin one, if the other plys I pull off are useable I turn them into faux rice paper with beeswax and an iron but this is a great way to use them too. thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you. I don't have that many great napkins but they are so easy to use with gluestick and it makes them feel different. I like them for wax paper bags. I use the pull offs for all kinds of things too.
I saw another crafter crinkle and iron wax paper to make it look like vintage glass. It took away the sort of milky look and made it clear and crispy. I wonder if ironing these would make the image brighter. I'm intrigued by this craft!
Sounds like a good thing to try. I don't know what an iron would do to the glue but I usually use an iron to unstick labels and stickers so off the top of my head I would say it would melt the glue and the wax paper would lift right off but I'll try it and let you know.
The results seem to have a slightly “cloudy” effect that’s lovely. It’s hard to see on video. I will definitely try this. Thank you from a new subscriber. ❤
Yes they do. Of all of my gluesticks the most clear after drying was the Elmer's school glue that goes on purple. I will try my gel gluesticks to see how how well they work.
I really love these. I definitely want to try them. I just have to mention how young your hands and skin look for your age! Good for you. I thought you were much much younger.
Mary, I love this! Brilliant! I don’t have a laminating machine & I don’t love the typical shiny finish. This looks nicer. Does it make them as stiff as laminating?
Thank you so much. I think it looks nicer too. The stiffness depends on the backing. I wouldn't say the fragile book pages are stiff at all as compared to lamination.
Please tell me why we want to laminate like this… does it make the image look special? (Hard to tell on video). Also for the ones with the lamination on both sides, I am guessing that you can’t write on the back side, is that correct? Thank you for your demonstration! 😊
Because laminators are expensive or you might want some image/paper to be protected or just have a different look or feel. I think there are some pens that can write on wax paper. You are welcome.
@@mkaysartfuljourney1239 I'm fine thank you, wonderful, hope you have a lot of fun with it. I only discovered it because I love wax paper and I use my Sizzix for all kinds of different things and that was just one more.
I love this, and I'm doing this right along with you. Does it matter what kind of waxed paper you use? I'm using cheap $tree paper, and it looks more like parchment paper. Thanks for this fun video. New subbie here.❤
Thank you. The corner punch was Zetto brand on Amazon but no longer available in that brand, the same ones can be found under different brand names, Looneng is one of them that looks exactly the same. One of the most useful items in my craft room.
When you say run it through the press again ..do you mean A die cutting machine or another machine ? .. I wasn't to sure if you were using just a die cutting one or not ..Thanks
@@elizabethglenbentley7882 There isn't one unless someone wants to try a pasta/maker/press roller but I don't know if that would apply enough pressure.
Couldn't one sandwich the image between the was sides of the wax paper and then press with an iron with perhaps a thin piece of Teflon or a cloth over the entire thing between the sandwich and the iron? Just enough to melt the wax to the image, then let dry? I don't know if this would be possible. Just a thought but your process makes very beautiful papers. Love the look and sound of the paper!
Without glue no, there is not enough wax on wax paper to seal anything. I have never tried it with glue and an iron. If I do I'll let you know what happens. You would have to protect your iron with parchment or something in the event glue seeps out. Thank you, yes they are very smooth and silky feeling.
@@maryferrari-espressopressd7921 Oh Hi Mary! Thanks for the information. I'm going to try your technique because I really love the look. Rather a slight glassine appearance. Also loved your ink pen addition for edging! 🩷
Hi Mary, Just ran across this video today, and maybe (PROBABLY!!) I'm stupid, but what is the point? If I have fragile paper that I want to use, I use a different (modern) lined or unlined paper to back it. If it's 2 sided like a recipe, I would put it in an acid free vinyl/acrylic/plastic -- Archival quality -- holder that is removable (can you tell I worked repairing books?) Your glue and wax paper method doesn't seem to me to be reversible, therefore not safe for archival materials -- like Grandma's recipes. If it's for use in junk journaling, it isn't archival quality ephemera, therefore could just be glued to paper, card stock, cardboard, etc. to add support to the fragile paper. Do you do it for the special look and/or feel of the completed project?? Do you like the cloudy look with the waxed paper? I really don't mean to sound like a snarky smart-a$$ -- I'm TRULY curious. Thanks!! Sarah
It's just a simple DIY made from common items. It's up to everyone to find their own value in it I guess. I have a lot of snippets and news clippings that I wouldn't want falling apart or disintegrating further even if they aren't that precious. It feels nice. It looks a little different. I don't particularly like using plastic. It can also be used for preserving leaves if you go over the leaves first with acrylic medium. With any material learning what you can do with it is just part of the creative process, especially when it comes to junk journals. Thanks for watching!
Your camera is too far. Could not see the samles you showed at the beggining. 4 min. into the video still can't see the finished craft. Please next time brin the camera closer. We see a lot of your work desk, but the work itself is too small😊
Sorry about that but usually when the camera is closer it just keeps re-focusing on hand movements causing more blur so that is why it is where it is, I can't edit blur out. I will try to remember to stand up more often to show things close up.
What sandwich do you use on your Sizzix?
As if for die cutting, two clear, the thin opaque one and the base and the thin book page usually requires a shim or two.
Nice easy technique. Thanks for sharing.

OMG, you are a genius! I'm going to wait to see how the gluer stick ones turn out, but that simple glue/wax paper is definitely a winner.
Thank you, hope you'll have success with it, yes overall I seem to have the best results with simple purple school glue.
Thank you! What a fun project. I bet it's addictive and it is definitely going on my list.
Thank you, hope you'll find it fun and useful.
Thank you for your video. I have a few old loved recipes that became very fragile, and now I can save them!
Me too.
Enjoyed this tutorial, will be trying for sure! TFS!😊

Hi. I like your technique. I want to know what side of the wax paper you put over the image. Thanks
I didn't pay that close attention so I probably used both sides.

Thank you. Using the Sizzix as a press to apply pressure to ensure a strong bond.
@@maryferrari-espressopressd7921 great!
Thanks.
Have you tried heating them after you’re finished? I just wonder if it will make them glossy. Great idea you have there!

Thank you. I just used Cut-Rite Wax Paper, pretty standard.
What type of wax paper microwavable makes my craft cloudy?
Don't use Dollar Tree wax paper. It's milky. I didn't discover that until I tried it. I used Cut-Rite.
Thank you for this video, an interesting technique that I will certainly try. Question: What is the brand of your fancy corner punch?
Thank you. The corner punch was Zetto brand on Amazon but no longer available in that brand, the same ones can be found under different brand names, Looneng is one of them that looks exactly the same. One of the most useful items in my craft room.
@@maryferrari-espressopressd7921 Thank you.
Can you use these to decoupage?
No, they are too thick when finished.
Would using an iron work?
Without glue, no, not enough wax for adhesion.
Yes. For years before sizzix came along that's how we did this type of craft.
When you say run it through the press again ..do you mean A die cutting machine or another machine ? .. I wasn't to sure if you were using just a die cutting one or not ..Thanks
Through the same machine, the Sizzix. You are welcome.
Since many people don't have sizzix machines, what's the alternative?

A Sizzix embossing/die cutting machine.
