Its great and all, but as an actor who has to play this part I prefer the theater collection version. This type of act will make my family disown me lol
I am literally in love with this show I came here to know how man in chair was like bc I am going to play this character in a musical but I literally watched this 3 times in one day! It is so good thank you for posting this ❤
The same thing happened to our production of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. But we decided to do a virtual play. If you look for TLTWATW a full length virtual play, you should be able to find it, but only if you want to. I am also quite sorry to hear your musical was canceled. Hang in there.
I was in a production of this once as the superintendent (a really fun role, but I really wanted to be the one in the chair. In.the end, we had a girl do the part she did a wonderful job. We became good friends during the show). Our production cut "Message from a Nightinggale" and the rest of that sequence (for obvious reasons) and some other stuff that was a bit insensitive, but it was really fun. Probably the best part was that our Aldolpho broke his leg during rehearsals and ended up doing the show with his leg in a cast and riding on a medical scooter. Yeah, we didn't recast Aldolpho. Instead, we actually had our cheography reworked so the scooter was built into it. So, just imagine Aldolpho on the side doing the dancing with Drowsy for "I Do, I Do in the Sky" and Drowsy seems like she's in love with the scooter just as much as she's in love with him! It was probably the best show I've ever been a part of!
Hey, fun fact: Drowsy Chaperone opened in Broadway FOUR DAYS after Elton John's I-wrote-the-score-in-eleven-days! "Lestat" opened to devastating reviews. Oh please, Elton John. Can't we just end this charade?
i had to search up this play cause my school is going to go see it tomorrow for a feild trip! (& turns out : at the end of the day, this musical seems cool & its in my top 10 favorites for the character designs and songs :D) EDIT: I just seen it today, IT WAS AWSOME! I also got to take a photo with the person who acted as the man in the chair! (He was very nice and liked my outfit:D)
@@Sunshines_Play_House-i7p you should see it live sometime cause its actually sick and you get a free audience interaction with the man in the chair ^^
We are doing this performance for high school soon. Our director thought Nightengale was a little racist so instead we are doing under the sea. We also have a black guy playing Robert, so we had to replace Monkey with Puppy for obvious reasons. I actually like it because it makes brides lament sound less stupid. She also removed the line about pornography! What kind of world do we live in if we can’t discuss the similarities between pornography and musical theatre?
our robert is white and we still changed the lined to “funny bunny”. monkey isn’t only racist to black people though, it’s just insensitive and it was just not to upset anyone watching the performance. we kept in the porn line though
There was a version of this show that was recently made private on youtube and i'm dying to find it! If anyone knows any information please let me know! It was my favorite version to watch.
They didn’t pick the right lights and costumes colors for Janet Van de Graff. She needed a warmer light and more dramatic colors on her. Pink and white made her look so faded. Her performance was great. That’s the only thing I would have changed. She s supposed to be the star there.
There was only one move in the entire performance of show off that wasn't lifted straight out of Sutton Foster. I mean, I get that it's a college production, but we had a pretty small school and could still manage a little original choreography.
This man in chair is probably my favorite on all of RUclips, he just talks a mile a minute.
I love him. He's so funny, and you also really see the insecurity and anxiety that define his character.
Its great and all, but as an actor who has to play this part I prefer the theater collection version. This type of act will make my family disown me lol
I get to play him in the fall, lets hope I live up to the expectations
i am obsessed with everything abt this interpretation
the casting, the costumes, the choreo, and dont even get me started on the set
This is my favorite musical of all time. Aldolpho is one of my dream roles.

My school did this play but it got canceled because of the coronavirus. I’m pretty sad I didn’t get to perform in this amazing show
I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you do get the opportunity to perform this show once everything with the corona virus calms down
same here :( all of us in the cast keep asking our director if we can somehow continue lol

We just did this musical at my school theatre. I ran spotlight.
Played Man in Chair in a Summer Stock production. Still one of my favorite roles.
Also one of the best Adolphos

i’m playing trix, as i’m the only black person in the cast, i think she’s the only character that must be black, so i’m glad i was chosen 🙏
I could see Lauren Lopez from Starkid playing The Chaperone
Cold feets was SO. GOOD.
Butler stole the show!

1:13:11 that NOTE!!!
As an actor for Man in chair, the act feels really weird. But it does show to make people laugh

Currently doing this at my school as our musical, due to covid its going to be more of a recorded movie tho.

oh these costumes .... baby no
Personally, I think the actors lacked expression and energy, but that is just my opinion...
haha dancing like a fool. the song was dancin fool XD
That trix is awful. Oh my god.
Why's that?
What about the horrible Chaperone or Kitty?
Jesse_ Mills you are crazy I thought she did amazing
Khatchmeifucan ! I thought they did phenomenal
It's because she's not black right. That was my problem too. They had to cut such a great line.
