I agree. I saw part 2 when I lived in Wyoming. However the best comedy sequel I ever saw was "A Very Brady Sequel" The first one was not that funny, but the second one was great.
Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the best Tom Selleck movies next to Mr Baseball. @Mary Cherry if you haven't seen either Quigley Down Under or Mr Baseball, you have to see both. Both are really good movies.
I know these films are a bit stereotypical of Australians and over the top but as an American kid when these came out, I fell in love with Australia and Australians. Thanks for reacting to these. It was great to see an Australian reaction and a fun trip down memory lane!
A "bull roarer". That's the device Mick was using to summon his mates in the outback. And I learned about it from the Australian band, Midnight Oil, which has a song Bull Roarer from the album "Diesel And Dust". And a suggestion for another Paul Hogan film, that you would enjoy, is "Almost An Angel". A movie which stars Linda Kozlowski as well. Keep up the great reactions Mary, and I'll be looking forward to your next flick! 😉🎥🍿
There's a Reddit post about an Australian guy walking home from a bar in Vancouver and drunkenly brushed off a guy trying to mug him. Reminded me of the "That's not a knife; *that's* a knife" scene
For context on Leroy, look up an old song called "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". That's the vibe he was trying to keep up. And I agree. This one was actually better!
Mary, a VERY old movie featured Australia called The Sundowners. It starred Robert Mitchum, and Peter Ustinov among others. It also stars the guy who played Wally from Crocodile Dundee when he was young.
"I'm an Australian and I haven't seen these movies" .... It's a good thing I wasn't driving when I heard that because I can't afford to buy another car right now. Anyway, another great reaction. "Nah, mate, we just hold 'em" has to be the best exchange in the film. The film itself is a bit of art that would ultimately imitate reality as Paul Hogan and Linda Koslowski were married for almost 25 years.
19:30 They're really simple to make, a small thin board or stick cut flat about the length of your palm with a hole in it in one end, thread a length of thin rope into the hole and twist the two ends around each other the entire length and then tie the ends with a knot to keep them twisted, the twist will rotate the board as you swing it, and that will create the sound. Heavier wood is preferable but you could just take a few pieces of cardboard and glue them together.
Hi Mary, great reaction! I've got to agree with you there, I always found this one a lot more engaging than the original film. Moments like the gang den scene and the majority of the outback based third act were absolutely brilliant! Great work, thanks for posting 👍
Rabbit-Proof Fence is a great Australian watch, as are The Dish, Dead Calm, The Man Who Sued God, Manny Lewis, Little Monsters (2019), Lantana, Japanese Story, Boys in the Trees and Boar.
I think you would really love Two Hands. It's one of Heath Ledgers 1st, the debut of Rose Byrne and has the legendary Bryan Brown. More importantly, I've been waiting an enternity for someone to make this a trend I can't find any reactions and it's an absolute classic!
It's not an Australian film, but you might like F/X (from 1986, the same year as Crocodile Dundee), which stars an Aussie, Bryan Brown. It's an action thriller about a special effects expert who is hired by the US government for a special job. He's kind of like a higher-tech MacGyver. It's a fun and clever movie, especially if you like technology.
Have you seen Quigley Down Under or the Mad Max movies? That's all I got for Aussie films. Linda and Paul are 19 years apart in age. 1939 v 1958. They were married in real life from 1990 to 2014.
This movie was poorly received compared to the first film, but I thought it was really entertaining. As a kid, I loved the scenes where Mick terrorized the cartels with the Australian wildlife.
People have dropped some good Australian movie suggestions in the comments, but I'd like to add: "Chopper" -- It's not always an easy film to watch, but Eric Bana gives one of the best performances I've ever seen. And "Noise" (2007), a really good drama about a cop trying to recover from PTSD from being the first responder to a massacre.
This movie is a classic. In the third one there is a scene where they order fast food in the drive thru that had me laughing so hard i was almost in tears.
My late mother (American as baseball & apple pie) loved the Dundee movies and Paul Hogan. Glad you're enjoying them as well, particularly providing your frame of reference as an Australian!
PAUL HOGAN did a movie in 1990 , called "Almost an Angel" It's a supernatural themed movie about Paul as a guardian angel. His wife from the Dundee movies is in it too !
The first film introduces the characters and this different style of humorous story telling. The second movie allows us to enjoy these characters a little while more. They made a few more I think, and although I can barely remember them, the sense that remained is that they feel more like money was the main inspiration not story telling. Another little masterpiece that few people saw in the movies at the time, but I did, is The Gods Must Be Crazy. Australian comedy of the late seventies very early eighties. Definetly check it out. This film deserves more exposure.
I love parts 1&2 but i like part 2 more because it has more drama and fun action mixed with the comedy and romance. Watching Mick cleverly capture and tie up the bad guys in the second half in Australia is a whole lot of fun. " He wants to know if we're allowed to eat these men? " lmao
What's funnier regarding the jumper is that as a day job, the actor Paul Hogan (Mick Dundee) used to work "as a rigger" on bridges, so he was used to heights.
Rather than the sequels, you could watch Almost An Angel, a movie the two movie actors did together a couple of years later. Haven't seen it since childhood, but I remember thinking it fun.
10:50 No, Bob's dead. During the last scene in Colombia when Miguel was listening in on Bob's call to New York, his accomplice José walked through a door. Bob hung up & continued to pack. The next shot, you only saw Miguel's face, but you heard a door get kicked down, 2 suppressed gunshots, & the sound of a body hitting the floor. That's enough evidence to confirm. It was actually a very chilling scene, remarkably effective despite showing little.
What's cool between these two movies is how we circle back to Australia. It could've easily ended in NY. The charm of these movies is the whole "fish out of water" story.
I prefer the second one as well. The first one is ok and it's an iconic movie, but it really doesn't have much going for it storywise other than it being a fish-out-of-water story. This second one is just way more interesting and fun to watch, with Mick outwitting the bad guys at every turn. It never gets too dramatic to disturb the lighthearted feeling and it's just dramatic enough for a fun adventure for the whole family.
This is my favorite movie ever. I can watch this anytime all the time. I don't understand how it's rated so low. I grew up on this and watched it well over 200 times and know it by heart.
Two of three of my favorite scenes in the Crocodile Dundee franchise were in this movie. "What's your chance of getting out of here with that jacket on? Better than average" and "Bella da Bella, He wants to know if we can eat these men"
Mary if you want to see more Australian movies, you HAVE to watch Sirens (1994). Possibly my favorite Australian movie. It stars Hugh Grant, Tara Fitzgerald, Sam Neil, and Elle MacPherson.
Check out another Paul Hogan film called Almost an Angel (1990). Some other decent Aussie films: Walkabout (1971), Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), Razorback (1984), The Proposition (2005), Australia (2008)
Peter Weir has made so many good films but Master and Commander is an all time classic, just after Trueman Show!!! 2 for 2!Have you seen "Hounds of Love" or "The Loved Ones" really good! There is an old Kiwi film called "Sleeping Dogs" ahead of its time.
Very much enjoyed the video! I will say, it was so strange to hear you say you were nervous during the first half of the movie (the part in New York). Modern movies (and especially TV shows) have so traumatized audiences with their tendency to turn suddenly horrific and violent. Back when this movie came out, everyone knew Mick would rescue Sue - there wasn't tension in that, just adventure.
Hi, Mary. I didn't even know there are/were other movies after this one. Loved both the first and second movies though. And being able to watch this one with you was a treat I never even dreamed of!!!!!
I'm glad to hear this is an Australian classic. I'm from the states and these movies made me fall in love with Australia but was always worried it was cheesey to real Australians. Thanks!
You can see Mick as a (very good) dad in Crocodile Dundee 3! Watch it DEFINITELY if you've been to any city in the USA! You are right to like the 2nd one more, I think you would like the 3rd one just fine!!
As a native New Yorker who lived in the city at the time this movie was made -- actually knew a couple of the scene painters who worked on it -- there's not one New Yorker who would ever eat fish from the East River, where that was shot. People in NYC watching that movie when it was first shown all went "Eww, no way!" The river water was way too polluted. IRL, the police would probably have told Mick that. Sue for sure would've thrown it right out.
Hey Mary, if you're looking for '90s Aussie movies you might like to check out "The Sum of Us" (1994) with Russell Crowe or "The Big Steal" (1990) with Ben Mendelsohn.
I agree with you. I loved the second one. I think I still like the first one better. But, the second is a very good movie and I've watched again and again.
11:01 Oh, he killed Bob. They didn’t show it, but there were audible gunshots, right after the phone call to Sue. It’s implied that he did, in fact, kill Bob.
The first movie introduced the characters and established who they were and was a good romantic comedy. The second one was a good action adventure with less romance but was still great with more stunts and action but we already knew the characters so we didn't have that initial thrill. If they were shown out of order the second movie might be more popular than the first. The third movie was smaller with less risk and less at stake but still had the same great characters so you will enjoy it. "I've Got A Donk".... great line.
I agree with you. This movie has a great sense of fun and adventure. The campy elements are fine, they add to the light hearted nature of the story. It isn't perfect, but it is a fantastic movie to sit down to and just enjoy. Nice choice. People had recommended Quigley Down Under (a fantastic movie too), I would recommend a lesser known comedy called The Shrimp On The Barbie (starring Cheech Marin).
Awesome reactions to the classic Dundee movies. If you are looking for another Australian film to react to you should watch Muriel's Wedding sometime if you already haven't.
One of the sequels ( CD: Los Angelous ) has Dundee beat up and kill a bunch of egotistical big time art thieves. As an art lover, I greatly enjoyed that sequel. As for Australian movies recommendations, try these animated ones: Fern Gully and The Rescuers Down Under. The first has a few Australian animals and the crew actually visited and made their art based on what they saw, but it’s pretty low key otherwise. Rescuers takes place almost entirely in the outback and has s very Dundee kangaroo rat as a character!
the woman actor (we used to say "actress"), Linda Kozlowski had a breakout film The Gods Must Be Crazy - droll, stupid, very funny , set in the South African bush

Hi Mary if you want to see another good movie with these two watch "Almost an Angle" just an idea .. : )
Maybe you could watch " Quigley Down Under " a 1990 film set in Australia and it has Tom Selleck and Allen Rickman.
Wondering how in the world have you not watched Sing!!!!! You have to watch SING
RAZORBACK 1984 was a great Australian cult horror film and a must see for all Australians
When I think of Australian movies crocodile Dundee is Aussie for Americans. The true Aussie classic will always be The castle 🙂
One of the very few sequels in movie history that managed to keep the charm and spark of the original and build upon it
I just saw you on "Magic Magy" video.
Agreed.
The third film is best forgotten though.
True
I agree. I saw part 2 when I lived in Wyoming. However the best comedy sequel I ever saw was "A Very Brady Sequel" The first one was not that funny, but the second one was great.
You're not alone, this has always been my favourite of the two.
There's 3.
@@30noir Yeah, but I've not seen the third. ;)
@@keithlangmead4098 Probably don't bother lol
oooh big call, i gotta love one more, but this one is tops.
I agree. Number 3 had its moments but its hard to recommend as the overall story wasn't strong.
If you haven't already you should watch Quigley Down Under. It's a western based in Australia starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman!
She replied on somebody else’s comment that she had never even heard of it, which just blows my mind :-) are we sure she’s actually Australian? :-)
Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the best Tom Selleck movies next to Mr Baseball. @Mary Cherry if you haven't seen either Quigley Down Under or Mr Baseball, you have to see both. Both are really good movies.
Excellent suggestion. Was just about to suggest it myself. Hope she gets around to that one. Fantastic film.
Quigley is one of the good ones
Tom Selleck's most underrated movie and Alan Rickman's most underrated performance.
I know these films are a bit stereotypical of Australians and over the top but as an American kid when these came out, I fell in love with Australia and Australians. Thanks for reacting to these. It was great to see an Australian reaction and a fun trip down memory lane!
A favorite of mine, I watched it several times when I was younger. And I agree, I think this one is much more fun than the first one.
So glad you watched part 2. 3 wasn't terrible & at least closed out the story you could say.
I liked 3 but probably just nostalgia
I liked the 3rd one as well. Not as good as the first 2 but still good.
A "bull roarer". That's the device Mick was using to summon his mates in the outback. And I learned about it from the Australian band, Midnight Oil, which has a song Bull Roarer from the album "Diesel And Dust". Keep up the great reactions Mary, and I'll be looking forward to your next flick! 😉🎥🍿
I actually enjoy this one more. It’s got more of a story.
There's a Reddit post about an Australian guy walking home from a bar in Vancouver and drunkenly brushed off a guy trying to mug him. Reminded me of the "That's not a knife; *that's* a knife" scene
The Man From Snowy River and it's sequel Return to Snowy. Based on your reactions, I think you'd enjoy these, and the scenery is incredible.
It also stars the guy who played Wally from Crocodile Dundee when he was young.

he's bad, bad Leroy Brown! The baddest man in the whole damn town! Badder than old King Kong and meaner than a junkyard dog!
Rabbit-Proof Fence is a great Australian watch, as are The Dish, Dead Calm, The Man Who Sued God, Manny Lewis, Little Monsters (2019), Lantana, Japanese Story, Boys in the Trees and Boar.
I love all the crocodile Dundee movies. You should do all of them!!
I think you would really love Two Hands. It's one of Heath Ledgers 1st, the debut of Rose Byrne and has the legendary Bryan Brown. More importantly, I've been waiting an enternity for someone to make this a trend I can't find any reactions and it's an absolute classic!
Totally agree. Two Hands is an absolute classic
one of my fondest memories is watching guiding light with my grandma her favorite soap opera
I'm with you Mary, I loved the first and second movies. I had the second movie recorded, and used to watch it over and over.
All 3 are equal in my mind, they're all very different, I absolutely love the 3rd one. Crocodile Dundee is easily one of my favourite film series.
It's not an Australian film, but you might like F/X (from 1986, the same year as Crocodile Dundee), which stars an Aussie, Bryan Brown. Linda and Paul are 19 years apart in age. 1939 v 1958. They were married in real life from 1990 to 2014.
In the horror genre.... The Wolf Creek movies are a must to discover Australia. 😅
yeah def criminally underrated both movies! classics for sure! :)
Another good movie set in Australia is the Tom Selleck western Quigley Down Under.
"The man from snowy River " absolutely love this movie , about a boy becoming a man ,in the mountains of Australia, in the cattle country,
This movie was poorly received compared to the first film, but I thought it was really entertaining. As a kid, I loved the scenes where Mick terrorized the cartels with the Australian wildlife.
Wally being a terrible guide for the villains is so funny! I'm glad he got a bigger role this time.
The Man from Snowy River has always been a favorite of mine.
This movie is a classic. In the third one there is a scene where they order fast food in the drive thru that had me laughing so hard i was almost in tears.
First Aussie classics that come to mind: Walkabout & Romper Stomper.
My late mother (American as baseball & apple pie) loved the Dundee movies and Paul Hogan. Glad you're enjoying them as well, particularly providing your frame of reference as an Australian!
PAUL HOGAN did a movie in 1990 , called
"Almost an Angel"
It's a supernatural themed movie about Paul as a guardian angel.
His wife from the Dundee movies is in it too !
The Man from Snowy River and The Return to Snowy River.
Gotta watch.
Such a GREAT example of a good sequel!!!
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, is an absolute classic, and if as an Australian you haven't seen that, then shame on you 😉
My dad absolutely loves the Crocodile Dundee movies, I don't know which one I prefer, both of these are just such good movies.
I didn't expect that LEEROOOY...JENKINS! You truly caught me with my defense low.
You should 100% watch the 3rd movie, think you'll find it about as good as others and it really wraps up the movies nicely.
i agree with you mary i think the second movie better too :)
I think so too, but I watched the second one first as a kid, loved it. It took quite a while until I watchted the first one the first time.
This is easily my favourite Crocodile Dundee movie from the franchise 👌
Rather than the sequels, you could watch Almost An Angel, a movie the two movie actors did together a couple of years later. Haven't seen it since childhood, but I remember thinking it fun.

“ The Castle” is my favorite Australian movie
BMX Bandits was one of my favorite movies as a kid. It was one of Nicole Kidman’s first movies. I’d love to see to react to it
"Tomorrow, When The War Began" (2010) is a great Aussie movie.
Paul Hogan also made an American western-comedy flick called Lightning Jack with Cuba Gooding Jr and Beverly D'Angelo.
This is my favorite movie ever. I can watch this anytime all the time. I don't understand how it's rated so low. I grew up on this and watched it well over 200 times and know it by heart.
I'm right there with you, #2 was my favorite of the series
stephen root was in crocodile dundee?!!! wow!
Hey Aussie girl. That thing he twirled was that famous Aussie instrument called a Bullroarer. ;)
As another Aussie.. I can whole heartedly RECOMMEND:
Man from Snowy River 1&2
Quigley Down Under
If you want more Paul Hogan you should check out "Almost an Angel" (1990) and "Lightning Jack" (1994). Both are fun.
Funny that through the many years, both movies had their chance to shine.
Not an Australian movie, but "The Gods Must Be Crazy," is another light comedy that's similar, from around the same time.
Yes absolutely! Quigley down under!
He's so charming and charismatic I could watch him read the paper!
Very much enjoyed the video!
I will say, it was so strange to hear you say you were nervous during the first half of the movie (the part in New York). Modern movies (and especially TV shows) have so traumatized audiences with their tendency to turn suddenly horrific and violent. Love how the subs say imitates a bird call, and they're howling. :P
Hi, Mary. I didn't even know there are/were other movies after this one. Loved both the first and second movies though. And being able to watch this one with you was a treat I never even dreamed of!!!!!
I love this film and glad you do too!
Haha 😀 i grew up with Days of our lives and watching it for 30 years now.
I love it 😀😀😀
Great review as always, another movie you need to watch is “Almost An Angel", I know you will love it, cheers
"Pump your breaks kid, that man is a national treasure"
I'm glad to hear this is an Australian classic. I'm from the states and these movies made me fall in love with Australia but was always worried it was cheesey to real Australians. Thanks!
You can see Mick as a (very good) dad in Crocodile Dundee 3! Watch it DEFINITELY if you've been to any city in the USA! You are right to like the 2nd one more, I think you would like the 3rd one just fine!!
When I was a teenager, this movie and the one before it were 90% of what I knew about Australia.
My Australian brother in law has me watch a movie called Castle, I think. Apparently it’s one all Aussies have seen.
Absolutely LOVE your reactions, young lady‼️😎👍❤️
CD2 was great, glad you liked it too!
Watch "The Rescuers Down Under" and "Ten Canoes".

I love Crocodile Dundee, 2 is a good movie to wtach, for me the 3rd was super, good jokes, characters, i loved that setting even more.
"Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" was a song from the '70s by Jim Croce. It was a hit.
Razorback - Australia's version of Jaws.
Red Hill - a new age western thriller
The "Tank Girl" movie is set in Australia. That would be an awesome reaction if you haven't seen it before! ❤
I agree with you. I loved the second one. I think I still like the first one better. But, the second is a very good movie and I've watched again and again.
I loved both these films but probably like the second one more also both films are massively under rated
11:01 Oh, he killed Bob. They didn’t show it, but there were audible gunshots, right after the phone call to Sue. It’s implied that he did, in fact, kill Bob.

If you see this, Mary, the Australian movies you must see- Gallipoli, and Picnic at Hanging Rock. (I'm a Yank!). Both heartbreaking, but good.
The Lighthorseman is great to
Awesome reactions to the classic Dundee movies. If you are looking for another Australian film to react to you should watch Muriel's Wedding sometime if you already haven't.
