I have a soft spot for Mods, even though I was a Rockabilly in the late 70s/early 80s. I do like a bit of Northern Soul and Motown music and Vespa scooters are stylish and cool machines.
I was a poor mod in the early 80's, so didn't have a scooter, did manage the stay press trousers, loafers, ben shirmans and fred perry t-shirts with a couple of pairs of levi's and an original WW2 parker. They were the days (my generation)
Bought my Vespa 50 special from Brian & Ray at Chelsea scooters and my PX125E in the early 80's ,Good times, I have a gt300 these days not really the same feel as the old 2 stroke scoots
1986 on my 16th birthday got my Vespa 50cc PK50s , freedom oh yes, not as a birthday present I bought it out my own hard saved cash £530 on the road brand new👍😉
I saw a documentary once about the origins of scooter design. Just after WW2 many factories in Italy were converting from munitions to manufacturing. Vespa or Lambreta ( not sure which) decided to make motorcycles. The engineer/ designer knew nothing of motorcycles so his design featured the rider sitting on a seat instead of astride the machine. The scooter was born and the rest is history.
Yes I gog my first vespa straight from school put some cool gadgets on it byvvtgd problem was when nt girlfriend got on the back we struggled to get up the hills lol.but great coming down and on the flat 😎.amazing times.
I used to live in Clacton in the eighties ,and we had lots of fun when the mods came to town.It kicked off every time they visited ,but it was the scooter skins that were the aggressive buggers .The local businesses liked it when they came to town ,however things got out of hand one year when a mini riot involving around 300 local lads (mainly casuals) and the Mods one Friday night .They were pissed that some casual lads decided to play dominoes with their scooters .Also one local nutter decided to drive his vehicle over the Mods tents they had camped out on a local council camp site .Tendering council decided it was no longer worth it and they banned the Mods from visiting the town in large numbers.
He annoys me throughout this video. Seems like he is trying to "take the piss" on the people he interviews...especially to get some cheap laughs. Note the lame laugh track...or possible lame studio audience laughter. I would have told him to go fuck himself...if he would have tried to interview me haha!
I didn't have a scooter, or any money to buy the fancy suits. I was always getting into trouble too.....I was a Sod. Once, me and my mates had a punch up in Brighton with a gang of large breasted girls, it was the Sods vs the Knockers.

Drove a vespa through a closed garage at full pelt once. As you do. Not recommended. Thank god for mattresses.
Great times at the rallies, clothes were really cool
"Has it ever let you down?" , "Yeah, it blew up." LOOOLLL!!!
Loved those days

I grew up in West London during the ‘79 revival - loved it. I’ve now got classic motorcycles - the Royal Alloy scene today has lost its roots.
Recognise Check it John and Dougie can't quite remember the lass though. Anybody?
The sound needs remastering
The only thing that is small ugly and making an unpleasant noise in the video is Danny Baker.
