Sorry about the lack of game tape in this video y'all, with some of my YT friends like OhNyquist having copyright trouble recently I decided to play it safe for now lol Lemme down below, what are YOUR thoughts on Kakko's game with Seattle so far? And how good do YOU see him being with the Kraken in the future??
Really like your commentary, good stuff. But seriously you gotta upgrade the background. The "I'm in my childhood bedroom at mom's house" vibe doesn't quite support the hockey expert persona you're going for. Find a blank wall, point a couple colored LED lights at it, get a ring light, and your videos will look 1000x better.
Kakko's arrival is Seattle has really brought out the most in Berniers honestly. It seems like there were struggles to find him consistent linemates at times and Kakko seems to have unlocked more of Berniers offensive potential, so now Seattle is starting to see more of what Berniers is supposed to be rather than just the defensive 2-way center he has been thus far.
It’s also taken pressure off him as far as having to create everything the line generates, he’s not having to forecheck as much and he’s able to be in that slot and goal front much more. The puck is starting to find Matty.
Kakko played for my hometown team here in Finland and honestly I'm not surprised at all that Kakko is breaking out in Seattle. I watched him live multiple times and he was such a dominant player. Pretty much every time he got the puck, something positive would happen. Nyr ruined his development from the start. I just watched today's Kraken game and he looks like the player he was in TPS, just better tho. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a point per game player. He still has time.

Rangers development issues stem from stupidity by playing zibanejad and old guys on the top lines instead of putting their young players that deserve to be ahead of them on the top lines but they simply refuse to play them and try to develop them (laf and kaako are 2 players that could’ve been so much better on almost any other team)
It's because of the money they are paying those players. It would look horrible for management of they moved those players to the third line, and would not sit well with these veterans. This was a good trade for Kakko.
I'm a Rangers fan and I called this the second it happened. Rangers development is a joke. The kid never got more than 20 games in the top 6 at a time. Each time the line (Kreider - Zib - Kakko) had solid analytics just weren't getting puck luck. He also only really got PP1 time in his rookie year and if you watch the highlights from that year most of his chemistry was with Panarin yet he never got ice time with Bread. Instead they opted to give ice time to guys like Fast, Copp, Wheeler, etc. It just never made sense. I'm happy for him and his success in Seattle. Hope he keeps improving and becomes the player we all wanted to see.
Honestly, I think it's a mental thing. Getting out of NY is a breath of fresh air for Kakko, which probably motivated him to try out new things and give him that extra boost. And when things have worked out for him straight out of the gate, it's just a snowball of success reinforcing his motivation to work even harder.
Kakko was outstanding before his NHL career, and I could never quite understand why things weren’t working out for him. I’m really glad to see it’s all starting to click for him now
No lie, I cried when we lost Borgen. If I was going to lose my favorite player though, I'm happy it was for Kaapo. Not only has he leveled up his game, but the ability to impact everyone around him is the reason for the success we are seeing from him here in Seattle. There have been struggles finding Matty a true career linemate, and while it's still very early, Kaapo might be that guy. If the chemistry and pace can continue to develop with those two, we might finally have the makings of a true top NHL forward line.
As a rangers fan, I loved this guy When we drafted him and we did him dirty with coaching changes and chasing the typical washed up stars instead of allowing this guys to thrive until it was too late, soon as he showed signs of improving the locker room went south and they dealt him. I’ll have a reason to watch the kraken now to see how he succeeds
If you watched him play in NYR... he was never bad.. he played well but ont he 3rd not 1st line.. that is the biggest difference.. he was a good payer and a MISTAKE in trading him...
As a Rangers fan, Rangers organization is a joke. The future shouldve been kaako, fil, laf, cools and gabe.... but instead they cater to the fucking aging vets. What a joke.
It's higher up than the Rangers. Look at the combined success the Rangers AND Knicks have had over the last 50 years, which is 100 years combined between the two teams. One championship. It starts at the top of the MSG Corporation.
I hope So Kappo deserves a chance to play for a team that values him. Also why assume that his top play is unsustainable? He was expected to be a star player, maby the poor production was unsustainable.
Nobody is shocked. The rangers are terrible when it comes to developing forwards I’ve been saying this for years. They’re pretty good at developing defensemen though. They should trade lafrenierre because he’ll peak st a middling top 6 forward. The extension they gave him is a massive fail
What if the trade was a win-win-win? All sides gained something; Seattle got a player that obviously suits their roster; Rangers got rid of player who did not, for one or another reason, fullfil his potential there. And Kakko, he has got a new beginning, a chance to break into the league elite.
both. but we saw this in washington too, and now that hes gone washingtons young players like protas and mcmicheal are taking massive strides. Laviolette sucks at developing young players
Trade actually worked for both players and both teams. The defenseman the Rangers got has already been a key contributor. Kakko suffered from Day# 1 with comparisons to the first pick that year - Hughes. Rangers never had a shot at picking Hughes. Draft picks they also received from Seattle should be somewhat useful in this year's draft. Better for Kakko and Borgen to find a new start...and both teams are doing better.
Rangers forward developmetn shortcomings started brewing from Lias Andersson. I used to think he just had a bad attitude and just couldn't grow into a top 6 forward.
When you are a competing team who's in the hunt for the playoffs and the cup year in and year out your development is likely to suffer. You can't afford giving kids reps where they are likely to make mistakes. It's not really a surprise that most of the best young talent develops in systems that aren't very good. It's rare when you have a team who's good who's also developing talent effectively long term.
Kakko did great in NY. He got pucks behind the goal, retained possession and waited for his more skilled teammates to setup in the offensive zone. It didn't translate into points but his team was winning games. Rempe, Edstrom, and Cuylle do a better job in that role so he was an expendable player!!!!!! It's fake news he wasn't good in NY. He is a skilled player who deserves what he got.
I was so disappointed to see him go to seattle....especially with the price they paid and the clear link to Bobrov and Hughes who drafted him. Having him next to Dach and Laine would be so much better than Newhook.
Now that you've seen Kakko in a different team, imagine Lafreniere in a different team 🤔Imagine if a team that can develop young talent drafted both of them.
considering jeff Gorton drafted him pissed habs didn't go after him also considering they been going after high draft capital reclamation projects. nice move krakken
I was a bit surprised they didn't as well, but it also may have been that the Rangers would have preferred to trade Kakko out west rather than have him stick around out East.
Kako didnt get it done here sometimes players need a change. He had plenty of time and to blame the Rangers is dumb considering laf and chytil broke out Schneider and fox were damn good...shesty is the best goalie...it came down to kakko not being able to do anything outside of qhen he was with the kid line and when he hits the wall there it won't matter just like it didn't in new York. On the other hand the same could be said for many players that need a change. We have players like othman, and gabe perault in the next few seasons and kakko had 0 fight when challenged by the team and failed on the first line multiple seasons. Funny how since he's gone the morale of the team completely changed, seems like it wasn't meant to work. But with law and chytil being able to consistently grow with less chances than kakko got, I'm just waiting for othman to get his shot and perrault when ready. Also, the player the kings waived has been really good for the Rangers so far, is that on the kings for that, or did he need a fresh start?
I'm going to justify this trade by rangers getting borgen, 3rd & a 6th (to make me feel alittle better, i'll say a spot open for Kaliev because of KK) But lets see if Borgen sticks or gets a 2nd round pick for us. It's hard to see the full results a trade brings until we see how the assets are used and what they bring back.
I don’t think this is a surprise to most NYR fans. We know our team has a history of mismanaging guys we draft and not getting the most out of them…JT Miller, Kevin Hayes, Pavel Buchnevich, etc. I fully expected Kakko to be better once he left and he’s proving me right. The catch-22 here is that if Drury kept him, Kakko would not be playing at this level because he’d still be buried in the lineup in an organization that liked him enough to draft him #2 overall but for some reason refused to put any trust in him in terms of minutes. So in that sense the trade made sense in a weird, stupid way for my weird, stupid team.
Kakko will dominate the Kraken game more and more. He’s so hungry. In NYR they held him in a cage for years. Imagine yourselves when the gate opens and this greyhound finally gets to chase the rabbit! 🐇
I don't know. When I look at the score sheets, I still see that he scores goals when it's not critical. But if he does contribute via the other players around him, that's a win. I would say Seattle got better tho, with Kakko. The Rangers have one problem, and he is called Drury. They will be wrong, until he is in place, because he lost his team at the GM level. Which is way worst then the coach. Just read about Milbury years with NY Islanders.
I have been saying this for a long while the Ranger organization has been utilizing Kakko's talent the wrong way i also stated he will shine for another team which will haunt the N.Y. Rangers and their stupid ways of handling players.
Even look at fox. Is he what he could have been? Sure he got his Norris but this season and even the ones after the Norris. Not the same big name guy anymore.
I like your videos, but you’re clearly missing what’s completely obvious. You should re do the video and take everything out regarding the Rangers prospect development. Who was the only team that developed Kakko? Like you said, Kakko wasn’t talented enough to play on a line with Zibanejad & Kreider and he wasn’t anywhere close to being a good enough goal scorer to play with Panarin and Trocheck. It’s painful to think about how many perfect scoring chances Kakko blew off great passes from Panarin during the short period of time that Kakko clearly proved he had no business being on a line with Panarin. So obviously the Rangers put him on the 3rd line with Chytil and Cuylle. Chytil and Cuylle were clearly the driving force of the line because they have the ability to put the puck on the net. Kakko was clearly the passenger on the 3rd line. Kakko is also not a 4th line player and Berard, Othmann, & Edstrom (who are all on their ELC) passes Kakko on the depth chart. And next season, Gabe Perreault would have passes him as well. I think it’s great though that Kakko is racking up the assist playing on the first line on a bad team out in the Pacific Northwast. But if you (and The Kraken!) want to credit the passenger for being the driving force to the 1st line, enjoy overpaying Kakko’s next contract when he’s an RFA July 1st. In conclusion the players you listed contradict your claims regarding the Rangers are bad at player development. The Rangers received a 1st and a 4th round pick for Lundkvist, how is that bad development on the Rangers end? Lias Andersson, I suggest you go back and look at the scouting report you did on him. Quite the contrary of the spoiled brat baby that threw his silver medal into the stands. And the Rangers traded Andersson to LA for Cuylle during the draft when NYR saw hew was still on the draft board. Who should the Rangers have drafted instead of Kravtsov? You thought the Rangers should have drafted Oliver Wahlstrom. Not to mention Lafreniere was almost a 30 goal / 60 point player last year, clearly a number 1 line LW that the Rangers developed. And this year he’s still playing like a top line LW. Anyway, you’re completely wrong with everything you stayed in this video and when you use absolutes in a sentence like always, never, you’re either with me or against me, you sound like a scorned woman.
Krappo Krappo....had all the chances in the World in NY.... He's a real Joke... Seattle won 6-4 the other night not even registered a point and was a -2 So all the Krappo band wagon fans Smoke on that......
Fox and Kreider played multiple seasons in college while Shesterkin played multiple seasons in the KHL. One could argue all three were developed prior to playing with the Rangers.
oh no what happened to Kakko tonight, forgot to produce a point and was -2. Is it possible he started patting himself on the back and the hot streak is over?
the guy is way too slow to be a dominant , yes he got more minutes a seattle cauz less talents also , he was a second pick only cauz he was big and playing against men at 18 yo
You'd be surprise how much a system that plays to your strenghts can change how good a player can be. NYR was trying to always play a quick north-south game with a lot of rushes and a sturdy defense. But Kakko was always going to be better in a team with more pacing, more open offensive structure and style based around board battles and cycling. The reason the top players perform the way they do is because systems are built around them. MacKinnon, McDavid, Kaprizov are the corner pieces of teams that strive on the transition because they are the best in the league at it. Barkov, Kopitar, Matthews strive in teams that want to control the offensive zone because thats what they do best....put a player in a situation where they can use their strenghts, and look at how well they will perform
Kakko got his chances in NY but he wasn't good enough. It's not Rangers fault. Now let's see if Kakko keeps this up next year and year after that. But fact is. He's always going to be little bit of bust just because he was drafted so high. He isn't Jack Hughes level.

You might as well get yourself a Kaapo Kaako Kraken jersey
As a Capitals fan, I blame Laviolette.
I would blame Drury.
both. but we saw this in washington too, and now that hes gone washingtons young players like protas and mcmicheal are taking massive strides. Laviolette sucks at developing young players
Laviolette a bit too much full of himself eh?
No worries, in a few years the Rangers will pay a large bounty to get him back.
He won't go back... 😂
Maybe the NYR organization is the issue
Predictable, Rangers are terrible at development, this is why cups are rare for the Rangers
When you are a competing team who's in the hunt for the playoffs and the cup year in and year out your development is likely to suffer. You can't afford giving kids reps where they are likely to make mistakes. It's not really a surprise that most of the best young talent develops in systems that aren't very good. It's rare when you have a team who's good who's also developing talent effectively long term.
good on him
Kakko did great in NY.
How is Cuylle doing after Kakko left?
How were the Habs NOT in on this to pickup KK?
I was so disappointed to see him go to seattle....especially with the price they paid and the clear link to Bobrov and Hughes who drafted him. Having him next to Dach and Laine would be so much better than Newhook.
I got more offended by mtl not picking up tolvanen on waivers tbh
You can’t stop the krak attack
@@melleblanc971 because they don't want that bust
Now that you've seen Kakko in a different team, imagine Lafreniere in a different team 🤔Imagine if a team that can develop young talent drafted both of them.
considering jeff Gorton drafted him pissed habs didn't go after him also considering they been going after high draft capital reclamation projects. nice move krakken
I was a bit surprised they didn't as well, but it also may have been that the Rangers would have preferred to trade Kakko out west rather than have him stick around out East.
@@JoshuaRouleaustupid take, the rangers would’ve taken the best package.
@michaelbacon8698 the Rangers aren't really running an effective ship to suggest that lol.
I need a seattle jersey of his to compliment my new york one
Sounds like there is development issue all over the organization to start, and Lavi is coming in and setting it all on fire just to make sure.
We are certainly enjoying Kakko here in Seattle😊
As a finn I salute you 🐺🤟🇫🇮
345 games 144 point's!! Kappo Krappo! That's what I called this slouch when he played for the Rangers! Was also invisible in the playoffs!
I dont think this is going to continue as years go bye but hope is there
Yessir! Love to see it.
I really hope it costs them a playoff spot this year
Graviterh should replace Sam on MSG next season - think you'd make a great play by play announcer dude!
So many Ranger fan are now seeing it was an org level but were clamoring for him to be traded.
Kakko will dominate the Kraken game more and more. He’s so hungry. In NYR they held him in a cage for years. Imagine yourselves when the gate opens and this greyhound finally gets to chase the rabbit! 🐇
He scored a few more times since this video too by the way ,, he's great
I don't know.
Who would have thought, trading a #2 pick for a 3rd pairing defender was a bad idea ?? Fire the gm !
Way to go Drury.
And now I hear Laf in rumor mill for miller. This will be the end of it
Canucks should have gotten him to play with pettersson -_-
His name has a lot of “k”s and “a”s
They screwed up, hope my wild dont make the same mistake
Chytil and Cuylle have fallen off after Kakko left. Maybe he was the driver…
Rags lost that trade immediately.
Let a offensive player play offense and on the top line. What a surprise that he's getting points. LMAO.
Rangers couldn't develop mold on a corpse.
These videos make no sense. The Rangers cater to their top 4 forwards. They get all of the prime ice time.
Correction…he’s proving Chris Drury wrong……
His name is Kaaaapo, not Kappo. With an elongated a.
Big deal. Why would yanks get the finnish right when Finns can´t get the english ?
Krappo Krappo....had all the chances in the World in NY....
He's a real Joke...
Seattle won 6-4 the other night not even registered a point and was a -2
So all the Krappo band wagon fans
Smoke on that......
video could've been half as long - thumbs down
grav you know what else is massive?
Man can't just take puck away from Kaapo If Kaapo wants to keep it
Vince Dunn is the best player on the Kraken. Just to be clear…
Well... he was staring at the stats, that´s all...
Why is he saying that they haven't developed players? Fox?Shesterkin?Kreider?
Fox and Kreider played multiple seasons in college while Shesterkin played multiple seasons in the KHL. One could argue all three were developed prior to playing with the Rangers.
@@reverend_wintondupree That doesn't make sense to me.
oh no what happened to Kakko tonight, forgot to produce a point and was -2.
Rags just suck at developing players.. Same goes with Chytil for example..
@@Haboobz66 What more did you want rangers to do? he did have multiple chances playing with EVERYONE... Panarin, Laf, Mika, Kreider. he played everywhere and just never played as expected OFFENSIVELY. Defensively he is a stud.
@@ChristianKrillz What would you do when you´re asked to play offensively and when making slight mistakes you find yourself benched... while "the core" get away with everything... what would you do when you were predicted&drafted to be top 6 six and then being developed for a bottom 6 position...
@ he should’ve played at least first season in AHL to get used to different style of hockey with high minutes in first line/first pp..
@@ChristianKrillz I don't know about stud. He's okay at defensively.
When will drury get kicked out he's messed up this whole rangers organization trading kakko goodrow and sitting back and making bad choices while this team struggles to come back I wonder what would be the outcome in the end
Kap can stay where he is.
Uhhh hes proving us fans right we knew he never belonged here NY is made for no one
