      @@jstdun I tried to identify states, but I could not. They only provide regions which is not helpful for what I wanted to study. Please let me know if you found a way to link the data set to states or counties.

      @@MURADBOW same here I've had no luck. There are hospital codes so I think it would require going through and matching all the hospital codes to the specific state. Sounds like a tedious procedure. Thanks for your help. I appreciate you replying

    Your video was extremely helpful.
    I have a doubt. How to use the cost to charge file.
    They gave me the file as an excel document.
    I have already calculated the charge for a given condition. But I don't know how to convert it to the cost.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated sir.

    • @americanbee
      @americanbee 4 года назад +1

      Multiply to cost-to-charge ratio, then charges are canceled out.. That’s the only way i think

    @Murad Moqbel I am trying to load my 2012 NIS into SPSS but I keep getting the following error when I run the code: SPSS statistics cannot access a file with the given file specification. I am unsure why this is as it is a standard ASC file. Do you have any recommendations?

    Thank you for your very informative presentation. I have a question, I keep receiving: "Error. Command name: get data (2256)," and "Error #100. Command name: VARIABLE LABLES" "RECODE" etc. I have been using a .csv file instead of a .ASC file - could this be the reason? I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

      I am not sure if this will help, but it might be that you need to make sure to highlight the content first, as shown in the video.

      @@MURADBOW Thank you! I figured it out - my syntax was off as I am using a macintosh. One more question, for some reason I only have a portion of the cases in the database in my .CSV file and .SAV file despite using the correct downloaded .zip Core file (N=1 million in my data instead of the N=14 million I should have as shown in the summary statistics reports on the HCUP site). Do you have any recommendations for troubleshooting this?

    Any tutorial on how to merge core, dx, severity, and hospital files together? Then how to merge different years together?

    • @MURADBOW
      @MURADBOW  3 года назад

      You can use any relational database management system and then merge them using SQL. I retrieved a sample into ms Access and I was able to merge them using query by example as well as SQL select statements.
