If Vakifbank is the best club team that money can buy, would any coach take Zhu Ting’s supporting cast on Vakifbank over her Chinese teammates? One would be hard pressed to take Serbia’s Milena Rasic (world’s no. 1 middle) and the Turkish middle Kubra Caliskan over Yan Ni (No. 3 in the world with Team USA’s Foluke Akinradewo at No. 2) and Yuan Xinyue (No. 4) or Lonneke Sloetjes (best opposite at Rio - now No. 3 behind Boskovic and Egonu of Italy) over LYY who is a better defender (In Set 3 of the Turkey Cup played last Xmas Eve, Kelsey Robinson, who switched clubs with Kim Hill, came in for Lonneke on defense). If the best team that money can buy doesn’t have an advantage over the Chinese team, imagine the task ahead for the coaches of the other national teams competing in the Nations League and the world Championship this year. Since only six players can be on the court at any one time, volleyball comes closest to the NBA. Stars matter. The Chinese team resembles the Warriors more than any other team. On paper at least, China justifies its No. 1 ranking. Now, let the games begin.

At her OH3 position, she is backing up the two best OHs in the world, Zhu Ting and Zhang Changning, who are entering the prime of their careers at 26 and 25, respectively. For whatever reason, political or otherwise, LYY hasn’t made the transition to opposite where her national team lacks depth and top 5, or even top 10, talent. Boskovic, on the other hand, was and remains a star at opposite for her Serbian national team ever since the Rio Olympics.

@@siberiantiger3917 she is strong and quite tall but her volleyball iq and her style of playing isn't that great at this point. I must agree with you. She only needs to lose some weight and work on her vertical jump because she is a great blocker at this point. I see her more of an opposite than an open because her passing isn't great(passing should be practiced at a very young age ~16 17). . She's young and has many rooms for improvement. I can see the nearing battle of opposite of a young Russian Star and LYY❤❤

I guess the 2014 Montreux Volleymasters was held some time before the WCH, thus the full-force of the Chinese squad was playing its important matches in the Montreux. Zhang Changning was not yet identified, so was the libero, Lin Li. History is exciting, even within the sport scope :-)
@@zackd2852 Yan Ni had been a prominent middle blocker in China since like 2005. She’s always the top 3 when it came to blocking. Yet traditionally blocking was not a skill Chinese national team focuse on and so Yan Ni never has a chance. It all changed in 2015 when Lang Ping took over and brought western philosophy to the Chinese team.

Interestingly, they went through the same at the Olympic Games in Rio. The chinese lost the first set and it could seem like it would be so easy to beat them after conluding it. Yet, they took the next two, lost the 4th, and it all came down to the 5th set, where they put serving pressure and were able to gain enough advantage over the brazilians, and eventually won the match by two points. Exactly the same as in this match: the brazilians won by two in the 5th set.
CORRECTION: Yuan Xinyue was born in December 1996 in Chongqing, she's just 24 years old coming this December. Why did your roster list say she's 27 years old at six years ago??? :-)
This match is 7 years old. It's better to watch some of China's 2019 World Cup matches. That championship squad will represent China in this year's Olympics.
