Everything about Mr. Freeze is intense. Joker is an amazing viliant but my favorite in the show is Mr. Freeze. I hope they bring him back on batman: caped crusader.
@@rhysioeren3203 we need more variety in Batman shows and movies. Joker has had more than enough time to shine. Mr. Freeze in both Batman: The Animated Series and The Batman were a handful of episodes each and he deserves more. We need a new movie where Mr. Freeze is taken seriously. My favorite villain is Ra's Al Ghul. He's as skilled as Batman in martial arts, his organization is international, he's complex. If Thomas Wayne watched Bruce d!3 in Crime Alley, I would imagine he'd be Gotham City's Ra's, not a violent Batman. Batman the Animated Series is one of the best animated series of all times. The shocking moments are one of the reasons why it's so beloved. And I love it.
The death of Annie will always be my #1, especially her last words just before Clay face absorbed her. It hard to believe that she was voiced by the same actress who voice Helga from Hey Arnold.
@@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982 Wait! you didn't know that? Francesa Smith voiced Annie. I guess because she known for her angry tone voice rather than that soft tone one.
The animated series definitely had some dark moments over its 3 (or 4) season run, and those moments made this show an absolute icon in the animation industry
I still remember the first time watching barbara falling and crashing into the police car. I was like WTF!@# I literally panicked. When I realized at the end of the episode it was a dream, I thought afterwards that bruce timm and company probably went a bit too far with that one for many different reasons. But the show is about that and it is what makes it very intense.
Same here. I was like what just happened and then to see the events play out over the episode is still shocking to me. This show always got away with some shocking scenes and storylines but to see this episode play out? Yikes and it proves how good of a storytelling aura this had.
The Gray Ghost episode was also a commentary and coming to peace moment for Adam West who played Batman in the 1960s show and voiced the Gray Ghost. He faced a lot of typecasting after playing Batman and struggled to come to terms with it and how it affected his career. Luckily for all of us fans, he made peace with it and decided to embrace his Bat-identity. I hope he and Kevin Conroy know how much they meant to all of us Bat-fans and that they are missed dearly.

I'd say a moment I found deep was in the episode, "Read My Lips," when batman realized the ventriloquist had two personalities and Scarface wasn't just an act. I feel like the ventriloquist is an underrated villain and deserves more appearances than he's given.
The first time I discovered the chalk outlines of the Waynes behind the theater in Arkham City I immediately flashed back to the Appointment in Crime Alley episode. Rocksteady nailed the emotion of that simple yet powerful event.
Even though I was in my 30's, I always made time for this show because it was so well written. Over The Edge, for me, is the pinnacle animated episode of all time (2nd place being when Speed Racer finding out what really happened to his older brother).
I got the full series for Christmas last year, and it's one of the best gifts I have gotten in years. I am planning to get the Lego batman animated series sets as well because I love the series so much.
These are all great choices. I'd also include episode "Judgment Day" as least as an honorable mention where Two-face develops another personality, "The Judge"
It's from the JL universe but Amanda Waller explaining why Batman is above every hero when he sat down with dying Ace was top notch. She was his enemy for so long and after all this time, she realized that the world needs a Batman and created Terry. Underrated episode/ending.
Never thought much of the emotional stories when I was a kid watching, but I now feel that the some of the raw, dark undertones of BTAS helped ease a generation of kids to cope and accept real world tragedies.
The episode that introduced the viewers to The Clock King. On what was ultimately bad advice, a man takes a moment to relax which lead to a sense of bad events that ultimately made him late for his court appearance which equaled a ‘no-show’ and finally as a result, a summary judgment for millions of dollars against him, breaking his psyche thereby creating The Clock King…AND THIS IS STILL A KID’S CARTOON!!!!!! That shocking moment was NOT in this Top Ten shows just how insanely spectacular this series was back in the day.
The one where it’s revealed that Barbara Gordon had been injected with the fear toxin I always felt was the most confusing in a lot of ways. Not because it was you know a shock or anything like that. But I remember that it actually starts with both Batman and Robin basically already on the run. We don’t actually understand what’s happening or anything like that. The episode literally starts with Batman and Robin running down the stairs into the cave while being followed by Gordon and other members of the Gotham Police Department shooting at them. And this is probably one of the most brilliant things that the Team did. I mean, imagine how confused you would be if you would never seen that episode before. Just out of nowhere suddenly you see an individual who once considered Batman to be a real ally and probably one of the few people in the police department that actually were willing to work with him suddenly chasing him while firing a gun at him , at least when I was a kid confused the living hell out of me. For me, the thing that I always thought was kind of sad was how Harley Quinn kept going back to the Joker. Even though on multiple occasions in multiple versions of the show, he basically had little to no real respect for her. And such like that. But for some reason she kept going back. And I’ve always found that to be rather tragic. Thankfully, in some of the leader versions, she does actually for the lack of a better term break free of him. Which seems to have done very well for her, and actually caused him to have a little bit of an existential crisis.
The Mr Freeze episode has always haunted me and should be number one on this list, especially considering the Death of Batgirl was an "it was all a dream" episode. Fans of BTAS will undoubtedly recall how we often see Batman looking from afar over the newly re-incarcerated villain du jour in Arkham. However, the only time he over looked back again over his shoulder before leaving was with Mr Freeze. It was as if to show how unhappy he was with how unfairly things turned out for Victor. Subtle, but poignant.
Annie's death is shocking... though there's the slimmest chance she might be alive in some form or another. In an episode of Batman Beyond where a little girl with psychic abilities is essentially kidnapped to be brought into a cult preparing for a new world order, among the case files of missing kids in related circumstances, one of the pictures looks literally identical to Annie. Now, it COULD have just been a coincidence or DC just reusing an asset to save some time... but tiny details like those almost always have yielded some extra lore the shows could never fully explore due to restrictions. So, who's to say that little girl wasn't Annie, maybe with amnesia again... which would probably be for the best, since Tim is old AND married now, so her Remembering him would be kinda awkward for everyone involved
I would of added Joker backhanding Harley Quinn in 'Mad Love'. Yes, the actual strike happened off camera and we only hear Harley getting hit, but I was shocked that it actually happened (and that Kids WB allowed it). This wasn't like other times when the Joker shoved or tossed Harley aside. It was pure intimate-partner abuse. It's arguably as bad as when the Joker shoved Harley out the window moments later.
I swear, you do this yearly... top 10 most Batman the animated series moments.... last year it was Darkest, this year its Shocking... whats next years adjective...
Crazy ting is. They don’t tell you who made it in the anime but bruce did. In the comics batman made a robot in his likeness so that should he ever fall it would take his place. Now in this variation batman has split personalities and wheneverhe gets pushed the the EXTREME EDGE. His split personality take ovwr and almost murders before bruce can reel him back in. Now somehow i forgot how, but somehow his split personality leaves his body and enters said suit so that he can kill criminals unabated but during the fight with bruces he thought he killed him but the failsafe of the robot is to be LIKE BATMAN so NO KILLING so it started malfunctioning and blew up. (P.S it wasnt bruce the split persona thought he killed it was actually jason todd dressed like him.)
Thankfully, Harley gets a happy ending thanks to what we're shown in both Batman & Harley Quinn and Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, her getting together with Dick Grayson and then getting to school her granddaughters when they got caught after following in her footsteps, almost literally, by becoming part of a Jokers gang that ended up working for a genetically reanimated through Tim Drake's body Joker. And if any of what I just said sounds too crazy to be real... go watch both movies and you'll see I'm shockingly right

#1 you’re only scratching the surface with yhat description
OVer the Edge almost looked to be the final Batman adventure ever and the bad guys win...
RIP Kevin Conroy 😢
Still the best interpretation of Batman
Also no blaming Harleys actions on a man, that’s the issue today, lmao
I was gonna say the moment with Ace, but that was with Justice league. Technically
Michelle Williams acting performances please. I'm talking about the actress from Dawson's Creek not Destiny's Child.
If they included batman beyond tim drakes time with joker would have been top of the list
I feel like what Joker did to Tim Drake should be on here as Batman Beyond is a continuation of BTAS
Numb 1 is a cop out
We were so close to a WatchMojo BAS video where Mad Love is not listed or mentioned on their list.
They are recycling the same concept for these videos. I wish they would do the top 10 episodes of the Batman 1966 show.
