I did Pittsburg to the Confluence one time. The water was higher, but even so it was completely terrifying. In some places the bats were like swarms of mosquitoes.
Curious, how does the GoPro work if you turn off your lights? I know you wouldn’t be able to see (probably) but I’d bet the camera would have a better picture.
Given that LOTS of light produces pure blackness when the river is relatively wide and smooth, it's a safe bet it would also be pure black with lights off. Supposedly GoPro improved the night vision at version 7, and I saw some videos to show this was true. However, they were bicycles on city streets, and there were street lights and various reflective things like cars, painted lines, etc. Apparently these don't translate well to the river.
