I think I can speak for everyone when I say. We've all had to kill a pet when it goes rogue and tried to get to our rear to shoot us. and it's never easy, but you have to live just one day at a time.
Reliability was less an issue then the crews. The problem was the few KV's (compared to other tanks the Soviets were sending out) was that crews had horrible training with the KV in particular. Drivers often only had a few hours training on the T-27 which was nothing like what it was like to use and drive a KV. Officers were often just as bad. They also got little training on how to command a tank (usually 2-3 weeks, a moth at best). Many were unable to even read and follow a map (as many were just rushed up the ranks to command these KV's). This often lead to them driving into swamps and bogging down, tipping over into a ditch, driving over a bridge that was not able to support it, or sometimes figure out where they even were. They had the parts to easily fix them, but many crews simply had no idea how to fix a KV as they had little training on it and often simply had to ditch it as a result. Reliability was still quite poor thanks to the weight, but crew training was often the bigger issue for the KV's.
I mean this was one of the heaviest tanks of the time hell even the tiger (P) had a tranny that would burst in to flames. No one had the tech back then to support these massive mechines

1:16 historically the KVs had serious trouble with their transmission hence why so many were abandoned in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa
