Kaixo! Muchas gracias por vuestro trabajo!! Una pregunta, no encuentro en ningún lado malla metálica de 8mm de luz, podríais indicar donde se podría conseguir? Moltes gràcies!

Does the 4mm mesh let bees through well enough in the trap part? And shouldnt 5mm mesh do the job well enough and let bees through a bit smoother?

Do you mean for the top part? The one with the brownish colour? Yes, it is important the the mesh is 4mm, so the V. velutina does not escape. If you make it with 5mm, the asian wasp manages to scape eventually, maybe the bigger ones get trapped, but the smaller workers will scape. Do not worry about the honeybees trapped in there. Only a few of them got to the final part of the trap, and they can escape through the 4mm mesh without problems.

The diameter of the big tubes looks like about 30cm - is that right? Do the two side upward tubes need to be as big as well or could they be narrower?

The diameter of the big tubes is 32cm approx, yes, you are right. It is this diameter also because the normal way of commercializing this mesh is in rolls og 1m height. So this tube has 100cm in perimeter, as it is the result of folding it without cutting more than the length of the tube. I would recommend that the vertical tubes are of the same diameter. You will save so much time, and the horizontal tube will fit better.
