Hey man, i love your videos. I go to NY in may for vacation. I find tons of videos like "cheap here, cheap there"...but we are not looking for cheap deals, we would like to stay, eat, shop and move around in style. the hotel is already booked. For the rest i would love to see a video how to enjoy NY with a large budget
I got you covered :) I'm planning on some videos of most expensive this/that.. you'll see . I did the most expensive Grilled Cheese Video It's $100, and AMAZING.
I am visiting NYC in March to see Billy Joel. I booked an AB&B studio for 3 nights a block from MSG for $250 less than Holiday Inn Express. Deals are out there. Thanks for your video's.
Helloo community! We travel a couple years ago to nyc and we stayed in queens (quality inn hotel) 140$ per night with not so good breaksfast included. 15 mins to the middle of Manhattan was no problem. We travel in early Oct. So, yes! So recommended. We are planning to travel again next year, in different months and expecying to find a deal in kiddle Manhattan. Good luck travelers!
In New Zealand too.Great tip to stay in Hostel Hotel lots of great room choices excellence central locations casual walk in vicinity Lake Taupo i love it ❤️
Definitely very good tips. Thank you. Another way to find a hotel in NYC is to ask a friend that already lives there. Because there're so many accommodations in the city, sometimes people live close to those small, intimate hotels and the residents speak to the guests (at a cafe or diner) and know all the good and bad stuff about the hotels close to them. So, don't under utilize your friends knowledge about the city if you know someone there.
Would you please make a video about Staten and Long Island? Hotels to stay in, things to do, getting around there and getting into Manhattan from there, etc.
Great video as always! I'm planning to go to the US in March and stay in New York for the Weekend. I feel like I already know the whole city by just watching your channel!
I'd like to recommend The Jane hotel in Greenwich Village for solo or duo travellers. Rooms are small but only around the $100 mark per night and feels like a proper hotel.
Last year, must've been March or April, we got a place for ~$100/night all told on East 57th and Lex when my father was at Sloan Kettering on E72th and York. So the prices do dip down. EDIT: It was the Renaissance Hotel. Pretty nice place too. And come to think of it, there were a couple more places nearby Sloan in the same price range.
I like your style to explain what (y). i come back to NY in June (now airbnb in New Jersey) and my first step is, the restaurant with the best pastrami what you show *g* last time i was just by Katzs (what toooo mutch experiance in NY) Greeting from germany (again *g* )
Can you maybe do a video or just give some tips how to meet some really nice locals. Maybe some Students? Me and my friend, both from Austria, are visiting New York in February and staying in Brooklyn. Of course we want to get in touch with some nice local guys to show us some unique places like you do ;) Any recommendations?
I was there from Sunday March 8 threw Thursday the 12 and stayed 5 blocks from time square at the Hotel St. James I think it was only like $105 a night.
I don't even think you can get a park bench for $100 a night New Year's Eve! That's how sad it is. Please read close on reviews! Any low marks are a large red flag. And look for things like bed bugs problems with noise all the things he pointed out also. There are good hotels but I've learned in traveling in other cities that you have to be very careful. I went to another town very large that I shall not name that I figured out that all hotel rooms had the same key. Make sure you take your valuables with you even if you leave for 1 minute. Love your reviews you do a great job and provide a great service
Great video and tips. Im planning my first NYC trip from the uk and im looking at getting an airbnb in new jersey then using the bus/subway to travel in, is this something thats definitely worth looking into? I feel that 1. it will be cheaper doing it this way by staying outside the touristy bubble and 2. ill get to see other things and places i maybe wouldn't if i stayed more central.
Planning a trip to NY in August. Really want to do a hotel but I want a cheap nice one. I don't really want to do an AirBnB but I don't want spend an arm and a leg on a hotel. So doing a lot of research and booking like 5 months in advance
My problem is we found cheaper hotels out in New Jersey for example but am finding that the cost to transport into midtown and back to the hotel each day is expensive! For round trip it is $23.50/day per person, we have 5 people to buy these tickets for each day for 6 days which becomes $705! So then we looked at a twice as expensive hotel within 12 minutes (and one quick subway ride) to midtown and it requires $45/day for parking with only 7 (yes, SEVEN) spots available for the entire hotel which is on a first come, first serve basis to fight for these spots each night (theyre not even guaranteed when paid for) OR another hotel in a similar distance from midtown is $60/day for valet parking (even if your car just sits there). Thats $270-$360 for the 6 days just for our car to sit there on top of the double charge for the closer hotel. I think it's important to factor in EVERYTHING (rate of hotel, proximity to midtown or desired location, cost of transit from hotel to location, cost of parking within hotel, etc). Because where it looks like you save in one area, you're screwed over again in another area. Is there ANY way to combat this!?
These are horrible suggestions, use hotels tonight app or the hoochblack app. They millennium hilton is normally $120 but the best deal is the beekman when it is on offer for $250. Fidi has every possible subway one could ask for. Do not stay out side of Manhattan when it is this cheap on the above mentioned apps
*My tip for anyone looking for a cheap place to stay in NYC is this: Don't bother. Simply save more money, do a few extra shifts, a bit more overtime, and stay somewhere nice and pleasant where you can remember your visit for all the right reasons*
The world center hotel/club quarters downtown has one of the most amazing views in the city. If you can find that relatively cheap, I suggest it to anyone. Of course like any other hotel it has very high peak prices...but the times it's low priced? You'd be hard to find a better place in the city. It's also very quiet downtown at night, so if midtown is too much for you, this is also a great place to stay because all the subway lines are within a 3 block radius that'll get you anywhere in the city. Best of all, before a walk around the city, you can fill up on free water bottles from the hotel. Stay hydrated mofo's.
A - Staying during the week is MORE expensive. Monday-Friday NIGHTS are expensive due to BUSINESS travel. B - Try an arrival on a Sunday night. In addition, if you're in a loyalty program, move around and use points in NYC C - Those ChinaTown hotels should be AVOIDED at all cost. D - Try looking at hotels in lower Manhattan, Harlem, Downtown or Williamsburg in Brooklyn, Long Island City in Queens or Jersey City NJ. Staying in NJ may increase cost if you're looking to be uber thirfty. Also be aware of public transportation cab issues. E - Best time to visit NYC, between MLK and St. Patricks day. The month of August. October thru Thanksgiving.
Just discovered your channel, binge watching all your videos haha! I'm planning on going to NY in December/January, so your videos are very helpful. Thank you & keep up the good work :)
What if you're driving into NYC? Do these hotels have parking? I'm sure the cheaper ones don't. What would be the best way to find parking if you're driving into NY without paying super high parking prices? I'm sure trying to find street parking would be a shot in the dark!
Street Parking in a spot where you have to move it twice a week.. if your trip is less than a week you may only need to sit in your car for 2 hours once, while they come and do street cleaning then move the car back. Many locals rely on this for years.
Im going for nye and it will be my first time, flight is booked from LAX to JFK, hostel has not been booked, what do you recommend that is cheap and good around that time of the year
Hey John, I'm going to NY in March and just head about a law that forbidden Airbnb apartment booking for less then a month. I checked that there are lot of people offering and booking on this conditions, regardless of the law. I plan to do so, but I fear on getting my reservation canceled or get kicked out of the Airbnb during my stay. Do you know anything about this, if this kind of thing happens?
I know for sure, it's legal to rent a room if the person who owns the apartment is present. Actual full apartments are a grey area, and i can't give you a direct answer sadly..
Thanks man. I'm planning a 4-day weekend. I am looking to be as cheap as possible. Taking a Greyhound from Dayton Ohio to downtown Manhattan for $160 round trip. Honestly want to move to New York City later down the road. But this four-day weekend is just me scoping it out. Can't wait.
@@Ninjabdul I ended up flying to NYC for a 3 day weekend in February of 2020. Right before Covid… I stayed at the World Trade Center hotel. It was $100 a night but prices have went up since. It was super expensive but one of the best times of my life. I still fantasizing about moving there one day.
I'm going there in November and the resort fees for hotels are insane! 😱 I don't know if I want to pay a huge number of amount for deposit/accommodation/refrigeration/and etc. for each night I'm staying. 😅
I went to NYC for the first time a few months ago and I didn't plan well. But after a few months later, I came upon your videos and I enjoyed every single one of them. Please do continue to do more. I still yet to learn many things. I have to say it was worth the experience and I'd love to go again.
Hello, It was really helpful video like always... we would definitely follow your tips for the next trip. Thank you so much for sharing the most knowledgeable and simple videos with us 🙏🏻
Great video. I am checking the other you suggested. I stayed in NYC in 1980. Can't remember the hotel. Opposite Penn Station I think. Great hotel but no parking. Hotel parking was two blocks away. I was driving from Canada to Florida. So, for further reviews, maybe you could mention if the hotel has parking, how much, or if parking is off site? Enjoy the great job you do on your videos. Thanks for making this one. Very useful.
Hi!! I'll be visiting NYC next year with my wife. We'll fly from San José, Costa Rica to JFK airport. I found a good place to stay (I hope so) in Flushing Queens. I'd like to know what you think of this place. Is it a good spot to start our one week trip, is it a safe place etc?
Not John, but wanted to give my 2 cents. It takes about an hour (sometimes more, if you're unlucky with the 7 train) each way to get from Flushing to Manhattan, where I presume you will spend most of your day exploring. Although it's a very long commute, it's pretty straightforward-the stops in Manhattan include Times Square and Grand Central. I can't comment on safety as I don't live there, but you can check out maps.nyc.gov/crime to get a general idea of how the neighborhood is.
I am 57 and my brother is 67. We are coming to NYC for the first time in Sept.2020. We are going to be there on vacation for 2 weeks (the 1st-15th). I have found some great tips watching your numerous videos. Do you have any specific thoughts on a specific Hotel that is close to the subway/bus as it will be our primary choice for transportation. You have mentioned the "Manhattan bubble", we plan on going to Museums, Central Park, Broadway show,Opera, your Chinatown eats suggestions, 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty/ Ellis Island, Staten Island Ferry just to name a few touristy sites. But cannot seem to decide on a hotel. We would prefer a great view of NYC, free breakfast, 2 beds, non-smoking, and of course free wifi. We can afford up to about $3,500 for the hotel... but less is good. We wanted to ask you if you had a specific one in mind? And also, we can't decide where exactly in NYC to stay? We have been assuming the "Manhattan Bubble" since we have never been to NYC before and we are older. My email is kimyzimmerman@yahoo.com if you choose to reply. Thank you so very much, and we both enjoy your videos...Thanks again, Kim
My tip how to use airbnb. When I visit a new city e.g. London, Rom...and I plan to be there more then a few days or better a week I'm changing the rooms in that time. For the example if I would go to nyc and want to get to know a few neighborhoods I book the airbnb apartments/rooms in that neighborhood (or close as possible) maybe for 2-3 nights. In that time I will spend my day (+night) in that area etc...(except if I want to go to something special outside or a attraction...). With that I can even save a few dollars sometimes because the next apartment is maybe a bit cheaper as the first one or I don't need to use the subway less often etc...(its no guarantee that it works always)...
I used hotwire couple of times for booking a hotel in nyc. You only know the area and how many stars the hotel has. After booking they tell you what hotel you got
I love your Videos!!! im planning to go this december 3 for my bday just i saw a great hotel deal at eurocheapo just wanted to know if its legit coz the prices are so cheap can’t believe it 😖😖
Lol just booked it and i found out its under booking.com and its reliable! Thank you so muchh you save me a lot of money and goodthing in eurocheapo you can trace how far is it from your hotel to the destination that you want i litterally spend hours just to find a perfect hotel and glad i found it there’s a lot of deals 🥰🥰🥰 will binge watch your nyc vlog!!
Can u do a parking on the streets guide? One of the hotels i mentioned in my just previous comment (please read it too!) said they had lots of street parking (its in the Bronx) but we might need to move the car at certain times (move it WHEN and to WHERE) etc... This was the hotel with a limit of 7 parking spaces (that i mentioned below). Us tourists with these kind of options REALLY need to understand when and where can you park, is it safe to leave your car overnight on the streets and if so what neighborhoods are and are def not safe? Please help :)
Yeah but we are driving there from pennsylvania only 4 hours away...how else would we come? Flying is too expensive for a family of 5 for such a short distance.
You can park on the street and find “alternate side parking “ which means you have to move your car twice a week . Look up that term online to see what it is .

Helpful. Thanks

Reading the reviews is the best tip anywhere in the world. AirBnb is the way to go!
Thanks my friend

Can u do a parking on the streets guide? One of the hotels i mentioned in my just previous comment (please read it too!) said they had lots of street parking (its in the Bronx) but we might need to move the car at certain times (move it WHEN and to WHERE) etc... This was the hotel with a limit of 7 parking spaces (that i mentioned below). Us tourists with these kind of options REALLY need to understand when and where can you park, is it safe to leave your car overnight on the streets and if so what neighborhoods are and are def not safe? Please help :)
Honestly my best advice is don’t bring a car. To much stress .
Yeah but we are driving there from pennsylvania only 4 hours away...how else would we come? Flying is too expensive for a family of 5 for such a short distance.
And a train or bus takes much longer to get there...
So if we had to bring a car...do you have any advice for us? :)
You can park on the street and find “alternate side parking “ which means you have to move your car twice a week . Look up that term online to see what it is .
usa is the my favourite country in the all time bro
Be careful with them cheap hotels in China town..can catch bed bugs
