What should the penalty be for intentionally causing a caution in NASCAR?
1 lap? 5 laps? Let me know!
I'd say maybe 1-3 laps. Just depends. I feel like 5 laps would be harsh, but 1-3 laps seems fair to me

Tbh I'd say a stop and go penalty for the race that the driver obviously caused a caution intentionally and the next race he'll start at the tail end of the field or fine him 50k dollars and 100 points idk that's my opinion

The worst part about the Lepage incident is that 13 years later, he STILL won't own up to it! He still blames everyone else except himself for his stupidity, as if he expected all 40 or so cars to pull over for him without any problems. Stevie Wonder could've seen that coming!

Intentionally causing a caution = 3 laps.
Intentionally wrecking a competitor = 10 laps, starting at when the other competitor gets back on track. (If that is the next race, so be it)

Briscoe wasn’t informed of the penalty before he dumped Hamlin. Also, there was no rule about where to merge before Lepage’s incident, they just assumed no one was that stupid.

penalty for intentionally causing a caution should be whatever amount of laps it can be estimated you lose by pitting or undergoing repairs in pitlane during a green flag run. take the leader's average lap time over the current run, have an official estimate the time needed to pit or be in the box for repairs and go from there as to the penalization
I'd like to see that, and add +1 lap to it to make it even more punitive.

Josh Williams had the same penalty as Hocevar at the 2021 Martinsville #1 Xfinity race. He had issues and spun the car out and NASCAR thought it was intentional.

@@RawGator Can you do NASCAR moments involving like a father, like a son that were unforgettable (example of that was when the late Dale Earnhardt came to victory lane to congratulate his son for winning his first NASCAR cup race at Texas in 2000).
I kind of understand the other situations, but Lepage had no excuse. That was just pure stupidity.

Why is everyone getting mad at denny for? Briscoe cut the grass and got the lead because of it. Granted, denny did shove him off the racetrack but instead of trying to get back onto the racetrack, Briscoe cut the corner. He shouldn't have wrecked denny Hamlin.

Intentionality causing a caution should be penalized on a situational basis. But there should always be some kind of penalty if it’s deliberate.
Kyle Bush does not get enough credit for his skill. People are too blinded by their own hate.
Depends on the situation and the circumstances. Loose wheel or other correctable issue and no other cars involved? 1 lap penalty is fine. Same situation but you wipe out another car in the process? 5 lap penalty. Do what Bowyer did at Richmond? Should be parked for the rest of the season for race fixing. Do what KyBu did to Ron Hornaday? Banned from that series or all of them for one calendar year from date of incident. Lepage the field? One race ban and YOU have to pay for all damages to other cars
They probably was telling harvick that the 9 was behind him and didn't want to get spun out

3 lap penalty would definitely make anyone reconsider.
Minimum of two laps just to make it guaranteed not worth it if they get caught but higher penalties if say for instance they cause a wreck whilst being found to be guilty of trying to intentionally force a caution.
Chase Briscoe didn't intentionally cause Denny Hamlin to wreck his spotter/crew chief was late to inform him that he had a penalty
I got to see Hocevar get beat at Toledo. Hocevar led most of a 100 lap CRA Super Series race and another guys comes all the way from the back and challenge him, rattled his cage/roughed him up and got passed. Hocevar stopped his car on the track and caused a yellow. Kid seems like a punk.

Judgement call is the answer because for one thing anyone can come back from a 1 lap penalty for sure but for something like that yeah I say Judgement call instead of 1 lap penalty.
