I saw Rosewall play in a seniors tournament when he was in his mid-fifties. Incredible balance and control. Just effortless. His backhand was basically flat with some backspin or topspin, and he could put it anywhere.
Even though everyone praises Ken Rosewall's slice backhand as one of the best ever, Newcomb here shows some beautiful form on his backhand, his shoulder turn and followthrough, and the way he digs those low bouncers to his backhand out of the ground. Another era, with heavy wood racquets and different technique, but beautiful to watch.
Great view of the Rosewall grip. Someone told me it is called the Australian Continental, which is an oxymoron if there ever was one, but it does make sense. Wish I could play with just one grip on both sides like these giants of yore.
This is Fantastic!! Tennis porn... for me... the balance, timing, grace, movement, technical perfection... I can watch this stuff all day.... please upload some more!

Love it. Always rooted for Kenny over the Rocket ...

Lendl had the best backhand as far as a passing shot. No one could thread the needle like him.
Edberg would have something to say about that, including on the passing shot. But yes, Lendl's backhand passing shot is a classic tennis shot.
Does anyone know the location of the courts their hitting at and the surface??
Greatest backhand... Bjorn Borg.
Borg's was an unnatural two-hander; Rosewall was natural & all grace.
I'll take Rosewall's and Wawrinka's....
laughingtiger123 Agassi for the 2hander and Federer for the 1handerer
Greatest Backhand - Stefan Edberg! End of story!
@@Summon256 Rosewall hit his one millionth perfect backhand while Edberg still ran around in his diapers.
