Mostly it's vice versa, but I'm here because of the original dancehallversion by Toyan. 1984 on Volcanosound. Nice how modern artists pay respect to old veterans in the musicworld, lovely.
Imagine what it'd be like if you could go in a time machine back to London in the early 80s and show the sound system culture this, they'd probably think it was some kind of cursed dub
medis last good year was in 2015, most headz recognize it lol...after that they releasing medicore at best...look at couple of last releases for example...it speaks for itself, even the new style of random artwork is awful...at least we got system, innamind and couple of other labels bringing the constant quality + loads on newer labels popping up...scene is really healthy atm but medi just a shadow of what it used to be.
well, just to make a point, even though everything is based upon previous influence, there is a difference between pushing a sound out of familiar tropes and characteristics and something being a variation of something from before and just building the impact on familiarity of something we've heard and liked before, right?
+Yohan Benard Dubstep. For oldschool UKG look up artists like MJ Cole or Artful Dodger, for some of the newer moodier stuff you can check out Kahn's older work, or Burial (but I'm quite sure you've heard his stuff already).
I think this is the tune that gets ALOT of people more familiar with Kahn. Incredibly versatile producer.
