XD Also, there will be some alliteration to some spoiler territory here if you're only watching the show. :) Just a mini cautionary warning rather than actually disclaiming any spoilers since I do my best not to declare anything story-related. ... But basically for me, Abyss presents that they are losing control or spiraling out of distress, that they don't want to be left alone (if you had to choose would you let me go?), and ultimately being stuck in the abyss alone. Which perfectly represents Kafka's role as the story progresses (I read the manga up to a certain point, so I wont elaborate further). In relation to my own personal stress spiraling and existential crises due to major losses last year, this was the interpretation I had come to comprehend. Which if you think about is rather dark despite the presentation. Essentially acknowledging that there's a quicksand of a problem that is seemingly terminal and reaching out for help or at least an inner voice of their want to be saved before they are consumed by the distress. Then Nobody comes around at the end and emphasizes that there's someone there for you in a supportive but not suffocating way. In terms of the story, this would be Ichikawa and Shinomiya in the beginning. OR if you wanna go deeper into existence, then the Kaiju Kafka was force-fed could later be proposed to be an ally, if it becomes conscious as a sort of other voice ("kind of" like Parasyte or Naruto with Kurama). This song is equally important for me since while I'm in the coping process, people seem to give traditional advice of "just snap out of it", "be patient things will look up", etc. Where in reality, most people with underlying functional depression prefer to be silently supported rather than nagged. Like just come over, bring ice cream, and chill with me without having to get me to explain what I'm going through (practically bc if I knew I'd be talking about it, looking for a solution and wouldn't be going out on a spiral). XD Hope that makes sense! Feel free to discuss if ever. Always fun to go deep into existence talks. :D I love the choices for the songs in relation to their theme and message. Kaiju8go is super relatable for me being similar to Kafka of being and older dude with a dream that seemed so far out of reach in my teens and 20s.
