Yup. Grey goo and Lindy Hop were promptly looked up after my 1st listen.
I just pulled this up out of the blue as I haven't listened to it in awhile, and I was thinking, "this has got to be the most lyrically and musically complex song that I can think of, or at least that I'm a fan of". I scroll down and this is the first comment I see.
Start with nanotechnology.
Most of the references are either direct scientific terms or common slang in the field.
I honestly believe that this is the greatest fan made video, ever. Lyric, or not. This is a talent my friend. What a choice... X

I'm addicted to this video and the Goodbye Sober Day video. Awesome work! Makes me appreciate the music even more. I'm sure this took a ton of work, but I'm not gonna lie I wish there was one of these for every Bungle/Fantomas song. Sorry, but I'm hooked. I watch this video atleast 15 times a week.

Shout out to Mark Zuckerberg for making this apocalyptic song (that’s laden with symbolism from the Book of Revelation) a reality with the Metaverse.
Awesome work on the video! I'm here to double check the lyrics in my head, because it just occurred to me that this track predates Bostrom's Simulation Argument and Simulation Hypothesis by several years, and yet the song presents some eerily similar themes in the lyrics. Bostrom writes specifically of billions of "ancestor simulations". Makes me wonder if he was a Mr Bungle fan, or he maybe spoke about his simulation ideas with a Mr Bungle fan while working on it. Just a thought. Maybe they both borrow from the Matrix? But that only predates the album by a few weeks so I doubt it .
It's an interesting time capsule of millenial Extropian/Singularitarian thought. Although the song is more relavant now in 2024 than it was back in '99.
