Definitely it does. My mechanic was a guy. But he was short. Less than 5 feet tall. But one hell of a mechanic in his late 50's. We still to this day call each other after 20+ years.
Great job Faye! Glad to see you are working hard and finding a better way to make a repair. Whenever I found a better way I told my boss I was going to report it to Mitchell and Identifix my boss told me that if I did so he would make less money.
Wha-hoo!!! You’re a Rockstar! I generally avoid any repairs that says you have to first remove the engine… but then there’s Faye with tiny arms. Love it.
Oh interesting. I've been trying to diagnose my 1GR-FE issues for over a year. I have been thinking I might have a blown gasket but now I know about this I am thinking I should check that out
I love the way you put your whole self into your work. It warms my heart. Additionally, I'm with you on pulling the motor, but I would probably have to. I'm 5'11" and 165 lbs.
@@oscard.lisboa6105 yeah I remember a tow guy who always said he used to/ still works on corvettes. I first thought was how many nuts and bolts would be missing. This guy had the roundest arms ever. Like 70% of hardware would be inaccessible due to the size of his arms. 🤪
That is amazing that you got it done without pulling the engine! I couldn't get the lower two nuts no matter what I tried....although I wasn't quite as petite as you are. Well done!
I wish you were auto shop teacher back in high school Faye. Even though I always Aced the class. I know I would’ve learned a hell of a lot more with you being the teacher and this is going back to the eighties. Viva La France!!!
This is beyond ridiculous. Pulling an engine to replace two small gaskets?! These companies need to be held accountable for this. I’m so tired of it. Way to problem solve Faye!! You’re a badass!
I pressurized the cooling system and watched for where the drips were coming from! I have the first part on my Instagram and my TikTok but it's a little too long to post here. I will see if I can make a shorter version for you!
Hell yes Faye! I take it as a deep seated personal challenge to ignore step 1 if step 1 is "Remove engine" haha Granted if it were me making the video the audio would have been one continuous beep from all the swearing though haha Nicely done as always!
Ma'am, I've been there and I'm a total believer in scars. I always did it the hard way. Actually it was the easy way. Kudos for adapting and overcoming.
The new Jeep Wagoneer has one of those that you have to maintain at 100k. To do it you have to take the body off the frame. Or you just have Faye do it!!!
OK smart ee. You just showed your intuition. Now you know the secret of experienced great mechanics. You looked at the manual to familiarize yourself then sized up the reality of it, formed a plan and executed it. You might get a tough pad to keep sharp items on the top of the engine from poking you and fragile things from bending or breaking. You are a winner! POP QUIZ: Why did it leak? Need to assess for future determinations. Love you young lady. ben/ michigan
So, after blowing both head gaskets and warping both heads, of course I repaced both of those miserably placed gaskets. Well, come to find out, the actual coolant leak was in the heater hose hard pipe at the elbow JUST UNDER the water manifold. It was a 1/8 inch hole. Made a "spreader" formed to the shape of the smaller leaking pipe, then managed to liberally spread JB WWELD over the leaking hole. Curing over night as we speak. (Did this task with the intake manifold removed for better access). Keep y'all posted tomorrow....
Small Hands, Easy Work - this is me, I have that as a custom shirt too. From one tiny mechanic to another, CONGRATS! NOW GET THOSE LEGS PUMPING IN FRANCE!
Besides another Chanel I subscribe to and watch frequently I love watching your videos, super informative. P.S. will you marry me? lol. Keep up with the great content
I would have removed the plastic airbox and the intake tube on the back/side for way more access but other than that it was a good one to find. Us mechanics with slim arms/hands have out special skills lol.
Wait so it still leaks on the 1GR-FE 4.0 v6 metal version? The 2GR-FKS 3.5 v6 has something similar but it’s plastic. I read a couple threads people mentioning that it’s a common leaking point. I’m not surprised because it’s plastic. Good to know it’s not that hard to replace one or at least remove a bunch parts to get to it lol. I know I’ll have to do one if I keep my 3rd gen long enough. Nice informative video
At least you confirmed it can be done for the rest of us Faye, I'm thinking about switching to a Tacoma If I sell my 1st Gen Ridgeline so I'd like to thank you individually for documenting your efforts. Love from New Jersey
I had an MR2 turbo ten years ago. I only had it for a year, but the engine was leaking oil onto the alternator 😢 the dealership wanted like $3k to drop the engine and basically rebuild it. I still miss that car so much that I remember the VIN. I'm probably at least slightly autistic to be fair. I have my motorcycle and Miata VINs memorized too, but they're all Japanese to be fair, so they all start with J.
I am doing some work to fix my coolant leak on my Prado (Im in Australia). the coolant bypass pipe is corroded through out the front where the Oring sits. Looking to replace the pipe. I understand I will have to take the intake stuff off the top. Do you think I will have to take any of the cylinder heads of too to replace the pipe. Would you think RTV could plug it while I wait for parts (about a month here in AUS)? Great content,!
While Frustrating at first when the problem is discovered, accepting the challenge greatly reduces the anxiety when working through the repair. I think EVERY car I have ever touched had a ' what where they thinking' ...
I have a 2005 Tacoma with the 2.7 and did the Coolant bypass pipe because the crappy plastic one failed with the new metal one that's no gem either because you have to remove the intake manifold to access the bypass pipe
Small hands are great. Nimble tactile fingers help too. Most of the time i only get from alldata the worst way to do it and where a bolt i cant see is. I love cheating the instructions with a lil forethought
Being small has its perks
Definitely it does. My mechanic was a guy. But he was short. Less than 5 feet tall. But one hell of a mechanic in his late 50's. We still to this day call each other after 20+ years.
The smile on your face when you get it apart successfully is priceless 😁
Great job Faye! Glad to see you are working hard and finding a better way to make a repair. Whenever I found a better way I told my boss I was going to report it to Mitchell and Identifix my boss told me that if I did so he would make less money.
You’re absolutely awesome Fay!
Most mechanics aren’t as slim as fay, very admirable 😊.
Wha-hoo!!! You’re a Rockstar! I generally avoid any repairs that says you have to first remove the engine… but then there’s Faye with tiny arms. Love it.
Engineers aren’t always smarter. Nice find.
Faye= adapt, improvise and overcome! Good on ya!
Oh interesting. I've been trying to diagnose my 1GR-FE issues for over a year. I have been thinking I might have a blown gasket but now I know about this I am thinking I should check that out
When there is a will, there is a way 💪

Damn! Impressive. I think the real moral of the story is the incredible ingenuity you possess.
You did amazing job! No cuts it looks like. my hands usually get shredded for no reason.
Wow! You are a mechanic boss.
“Mechanics with tiny arms” is a nice way of saying don’t be 300+ pounds of gelatinous mush.
I mean, u can not have tiny hands while also not being gelatenous mush, all that twinsting, holding and screwing makes most ppls forearms get big
@@oscard.lisboa6105 yeah I remember a tow guy who always said he used to/ still works on corvettes. I first thought was how many nuts and bolts would be missing. This guy had the roundest arms ever. Like 70% of hardware would be inaccessible due to the size of his arms. 🤪
I'm not 300 lbs and I have a hard time getting into some places.
Our shop may be a little on the tubby side but none of us gelatinous mush.... nor could one of us pull this off. 😅

Great Job Faye!
How did you identify leak, I have a coolant leak and nobody has been able to locate it
I pressurized the cooling system and watched for where the drips were coming from! I have the first part on my Instagram and my TikTok but it's a little too long to post here. I will see if I can make a shorter version for you!
So glad you got this. I've been waiting for this update forever

Fay, love your content, and your sleeves.
Good to see there was an update video.
Got to lov your tenacity
And having small hands and wrists help 🤙
It's hard to find leaks. You're a great catch Faye! Errr, I mean, great catch Faye.
😁😁
Tiny arms, hands and every tool in the toolbox! Great job Faye!

You are Awesome Faye...
Once again I say you are a superstar.
Small hands and arms is practically being a lottery winner for a mechanic. (I'm a backyard one)

If there is a will, there is a way! Mad props to you Faye! ✌️🙌👏 I can't imagine how long that took you😬😅
Now I know something that my son does know. I think 🤔. Thanks for sharing
That's incredible your more courageous than me!
Small Hands, Easy Work - this is me, I have that as a custom shirt too. From one tiny mechanic to another, CONGRATS! NOW GET THOSE LEGS PUMPING IN FRANCE!
She's a badass I can't imagine the labor cost for that!
Glad my 09 Taco V6 4x4 LBDC doesn't have those problems,
Besides another Chanel I subscribe to and watch frequently I love watching your videos, super informative. P.S. will you marry me? lol. Keep up with the great content
Our FJ Cruiser has a 1GR FE/4.0/V6. I hope that I don't have to perform this repair.
Nice work Faye 👏
Darn you make me a better mechanic
how many hours did it pay vs how many did it take u?
Every mechanic has had share horror stories working very tight spots you get it done you're like I won the lottery lol . Best wishes to you
Excellent short video Faye :) also.well done ✔ and keep up excellent work to!
Itty bitty ontop of that engine...huh😅😅😂
My Saab has a valve back there the goes about every 3 years. I’m an expert at replacing now.
Racoon hands ftw. Much less need for one-off tools when you can reach and feel well enough on your own.
Looking better than ever ❤❤ great job😂
Hell yeah...you did it! Good job🤘👏
I would have removed the plastic airbox and the intake tube on the back/side for way more access but other than that it was a good one to find. Us mechanics with slim arms/hands have out special skills lol.
Can you work on my Toyota?
Dam!!! Girl!!! Your all up in their 😮
Nice back bumper 👍
Knew ya could do it. Great job.

Jobs like that give me anxiety 😂
Same 😅

You rock!
Ok normal folks pull the manifold?

Those type of mechanics are otherwise known as magicians
Love your style good job
You remind me of that song call by AL Wilson " SHOW AND TELL" you go Mrs. Faye. Take care young lady.😮😅😊😂
Lifting the body up a few inches would help. I'd look into that before i attempted an engine removal
Well done!
Small hands are great for spots like that, but where do they sell them.
I’ve had good success
re-torquing fasteners to factory specifications to fix leaks. Give it a try what do you have to loose.
Way to go girl!
My gorilla arms.....no way
Yeah, there is no way I could have done this. Being small has advantages at times.
Great Faye!!!
You would have a place in my shop any day
Go on girl, good job
Finally! A job that T-rexs can do!
There is absolutely no way for any woman in the world to look as hot as faye laying on an engine.
that photo of her on top of the engine needs to be in her photo calendar!😅
@@joecia7 I would buy that.
I have a 2005 Tacoma with the 2.7 and did the Coolant bypass pipe because the crappy plastic one failed with the new metal one that's no gem either because you have to remove the intake manifold to access the bypass pipe
Tiny arms and hands are a bonus!
Faye, your awesome
I'm happy to say that my hands aren't gargantua hands. I mean, they are not tiny, but they are small enough to be able to do work such as this. :)
Impressive can you replace my torque converter seal in my Colorado without removing the transmission.
You're awesome!
You’re Awesome❣️
Small hands are great. Nimble tactile fingers help too. Most of the time i only get from alldata the worst way to do it and where a bolt i cant see is. I love cheating the instructions with a lil forethought
Why didn’t they give you another inch so you could get your whole hand in there😮
Your perfect!
Good girl. Well done.
Glad to see your content back in my feed. Some how became unsubbed. Problem resolved though 😎🤙
my hero!
FLAT RATE PAY, YOU JUST MADE BANK!!!
Well done
I've been asked to help on many jobs because of my small arms and hands. Lol
Your awesome.😎
Love your hair
You are so cool.
Determination goes a long way.
